Putin envoy gives timeframe for next Russia-US contact
Russian-American contacts will resume in the coming days, Kirill Dmitriev has said
A new round of contacts with the UScan be expected next week, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s investment envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, has said. In an interview with Russia’s Channel One on Sunday, he summarized the results of his recent visit to Washington.
Dmitriev characterized current relations asdefined by “cautious optimism.” However, he said that theAmerican ‘deep state’ and several third countries are trying to sabotagethe dialogue between Moscow and Washington.
He also stated thatdisinformation dominatesin the US regarding the Ukraine conflict.“I was surprised that not only is American society being led to believe that it is Russia that is violating the ceasefireregarding energy infrastructure, buteven several key people in the administration are unawarethat it is actually Ukraine that is striking Russian energy infrastructure,” Dmitriev said. (I’ve heard Trump admin repeating the MSM news, don’t they have access to military data?)
During a March 18 phone call, Putin agreed to his US counterpart Donald Trump’s suggestion that Ukraine and Russia implement a 30-day halt to attacks on energy facilities. Since then, Moscow has repeatedly accused Kiev of violating the terms of the agreement. The Russian Ministry of Defense said on Saturday that beginning on the previous morning, April 4, “the Kiev regime, contrary to all statements and commitments made by Zelensky to the American side” increased the number of attacks on Russian energy infrastructure.
Dmitriev linked the level of disinformation to attempts by many countries to misinform and pressure the administration of the US president.
He also claimed thatrecent massive protests against Donald Trump were widely covered by the Ukrainian media, which according to Dmitriev, isnot possible without “direct orders”from Kiev.
He also branded the protests a “color revolution attempt” organized by the American ‘deep state’.
The ‘Hands Off!’ march, organized by over 150 activist groups, occurred on Saturday across all 50 states in more than 1,200 locations, with additional rallies held outside the United States.
While he mentioned that both Russia and the US are defending their national interests, Dmitrievsaid both parties are willing to find common ground. “Yes, the benefits are certainly for them [the US] first and foremost. However, previously, the Biden administration simplyignored the points where our national interests aligned,” Dmitriev concluded.
