FWIW, I have read some of the Nag Hammadi, and I do find it basically legit. But characterizing Jesus as "a gnostic", is not quite accurate. But I get it - food for thought. I tend to gloss over all the minutia from early Christendom and focus on the main points. Gnosticism presents a harrowing perspective. I prefer to keep things as simple as I can. Life is harrowing enough.
