Russia is serious about non GMO food, and they are proving that it is possible to do. You do not need to be enslaved by big pharma companies like Bayer/Monsanto to grow top quality crops in quantity.

Another reason to learn Russian is so that you can go there, live and work with them for a while and learn the secrets that they have learned. Even under Soviet repression they never had their agricultural system as comped as in the USA. They have a harsher climate than the USA yet they can feed everyone and most years are the world's largest exporter of major crops like wheat. There are many generations of know-how there. We could tap it if we could only talk to the people with the knowledge.

And for that, we need many people to learn Russian.

Also, when doing business deals and negotiating, you can bet that the Russians are studying how Americans do business, and learning how to win at doing deals. If Americans learn Russian, and learn Russian culture, the Americans can negotiate in styles that the Russians do not expect. By doing the unexpected, and being unpredictable, you can make better deals.

So, learning Russian is not just flipping off the Dems, there are serious business reasons to do so. I recommend that in your first 6 months of learning, you should watch Russian TV news every day, even if you only understand the occasional word. EVERY DAY!!

No exceptions. And after 6 months, find an older Russian TV series that you like, one that has 10 or more seasons, and watch an episode or two every day. This not only improves your Russian, once you fully understand the shows, but you learn a whole lot about Russian culture.

Once you understand enough to follow TV shows, then make sure to watch several seasons of a show set in WWII, maybe the Razvedchiki series, also a couple of different comedy series, and some kind of police detective series. This gives you insight into a range of different parts of society, good guys, bad guys, slang, high faluting language.

In 3 to 4 years you will be traveling Russia entirely on your own without even bothering with reservations. You will be able to be a translator for a group of American businessmen. You will in fact, become a Russia expert and could do consulting gigs in the USA.
