We all know George Orwell’s famous saying, “Who controls the past controls the future,” and we should remind ourselves on the hour of yet another, “To see what is in front of one’s nose requires a constant struggle.”
Who or what forces might control our perception of the past and why? What natural and unexpected forces have the will or capacity to manage our collective memories well enough we pay taxes to criminals and fight wars on command? What “invisible laws and powers” have brought us to such confusion that we have, “almost without a thought,” build a worldwide technological prison and surveillance system? Why having done so, in the name of national security, do we hand the jail house keys to our enemies and patiently enjoying our security and wellness as we await extermination in the death camp we built.
