Health alert issued for soups that may be contaminated with wood

A health alert has been issued for various soups and bowls that may be contaminated with wood pieces.

 

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued the public health alert for the products that may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically wood, in the ingredient cilantro.

 

The items were shipped to locations in four states — Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. However, FSIS said it anticipates that other products may be added, which could result in nationwide impacts.

Campbell’s Baja Chicken Enchilada Soup

Campbell’s Spicy Chicken Nacho Soup

Campbell’s Wicked Thai Style Soup with Chicken

Craft Market Coconut Chicken Thai Soup

Healthy Request Mexican Style Chicken Tortilla Soup

Life Cuisine Vital Pursuit Southwest Style Beef Taco Bowl

Molly’s Kitchen White Bean Chicken Chili

Molly’s Kitchen Cheesy Chicken Enchilada Soup

Molly’s Kitchen Baja Cheesy Chicken Enchilada Soup

Molly’s Kitchen Chicken Tortilla Soup

Verve Wicked Thai Style Soup

The products under recall were sold in restaurants and other institutions, and weren’t sold in retail stores.

 

The Food Safety and Inspection Service stated it is concerned that some products may be in consumer and institutional refrigerators or freezers. These products should not be consumed or served, and should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

 

Consumers should check the FSIS website frequently as additional products may be added.
