President Trump’s Border Czar Tom Homan on Tuesday hinted that sanctuary city leaders who defy ICE and harbor or conceal illegal aliens from ICE detection will be arrested if they continue to obstruct the federal government.

Federal law 8 U.S. Code § 1324 carries penalties of prison time for anybody who “brings to or attempts to bring to,” “moves or attempts to transport or move,” “conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection.” Charges may be enhanced if the alien causes injury or death to another person.

This author asked Homan if he thinks officials should be prosecuted under this law. He smiled and told us, "Absolutely."

20,000 IRS Employees Accept President Trump’s Offer to Resign

President Donald Trump’s administration has successfully implemented a significant reduction in the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) workforce.

Last week, the IRS began the process of cutting its workforce by at least 25%.

In addition to the layoffs, the agency will also eliminate its Office of Civil Rights and Compliance.

In an email sent to employees on Friday, the agency noted that the reductions will “be implemented in phases” and employees will be offered early retirement incentives beginning next week.

Now, approximately 22,000 IRS employees, accounting for about 20% of the agency’s staff, have accepted the administration’s second deferred resignation offer, marking one of the largest workforce reductions in the agency’s history.

The deferred resignation program, offered to federal employees, provides a voluntary pathway for those unwilling to align with the administration’s vision.

Participants receive paid administrative leave through September 30, 2025, while relinquishing their duties, allowing for a respectful and orderly transition.

The agency, which grew to more than 102,000 workers in 2024, would shrink by roughly 20% if all of those staffers ultimately take the buyout offer.

The Federal News Network, citing an internal document, on Tuesday reported that the IRS plans to cut up to 40% of its workforce by the time its reduction-in-force efforts are complete.

Roughly 12,000 IRS staffers and probationary employees have resigned or been laid off since January, according to The New York Times, which reported on the resignation offer earlier Tuesday.

UK Supreme Court rules that equalities law defines a woman as someone born biologically female

LONDON (AP) — The Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that the U.K. equalities law defines a woman as someone born biologically female, rejecting the Scottish government’s argument that it includes transgender women.

Justice Patrick Hodge said five judges at the court had ruled unanimously that “the terms ‘woman’ and ‘sex’ in the Equality Act refer to a biological woman and biological sex.”

The ruling means that a transgender person with a certificate that recognizes them as female should not be considered a woman for equality purposes.

But the court added that its ruling “does not remove protection from trans people,” who are “protected from discrimination on the ground of gender reassignment.”

The case stems from a 2018 law passed by the Scottish Parliament stating that there should be a 50% female representation on the boards of Scottish public bodies. Transgender women were to be included in meeting the quota.

Feminist groups that had challenged the Scottish government hailed Wednesday’s ruling as a major victory.

“The court has given us the right answer: the protected characteristic of sex — male and female — refers to reality, not to paperwork,” said Maya Forstater of the group Sex Matters.

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) accused Letitia James of falsifying records, citing a 5-unit property in New York she claimed was only four units in order to get a more favorable loan.

FHFA Director William Pulte said in a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi that James appears to have falsified records to meet certain lending requirements and receive favorable loan terms.

Letitia James, New York’s Attorney General, has built her career on exposing deception. But a quiet real estate transaction in Norfolk, Virginia—carried out just weeks before the Trump fraud trial she championed—now raises serious questions about her own compliance with New York law.

A declaration buried in legal filings states her intent to make a Virginia house her principal residence:

“I HEREBY DECLARE that I intend to occupy this property as my principal residence.”

Those words appear in black and white in a Specific Power of Attorney, signed by James and filed in Norfolk on August 17, 2023, authorizing her relative Shamice Thompson-Hairston to act on her behalf in a transaction that included the declaration. They were not written by a lawyer acting on James’ behalf. They were her words. Her intent. Her signature.

This signed power of attorney is a smoking gun on its own, completely separate from how the mortgage might be interpreted. It stands as a clear declaration of intent from a sitting New York Attorney General to establish principal residency in another state.
