There is a difference between us doing research and an authority figure TELLing us this or that. We're pointed to answer and ask questions, and brain storm.
I think it was said we have to find it ourselves; otherwise? It's either illegal to be told (secrets law) yet by finding it ourselves, it makes the product legal open source, which can be used as a predicate for official investigations, by people who have better tools, money authorization and time than we do?
We've also had "helpers" and informants come here, with some critical tip.
Also, if you find something yourself it means more to you. Someone just tells you something flat out, the info doesn't always penetrate. There are details and other paths which emerge by doing it yourself.
