Fucked up criminals, sure, but how many people understand the power of incentives and blackmail at that level. These people will assassinate you on live TV, torture and rape your children, and destroy your entire life. Lots of good people can be made to do bad things. I don't give a fuck how patriotic or courageous you think you are. That there is no breaking point is bullshit only seen in the movies. There are worse criminals behind these people who have allowed themselves to be compromised. That's why barely anyone has been arrested for the decade this has been going on, among other reasons.
That said, still hard to know who is good/bad. I see a lot of grey, and many are likely to act good in the right context or bad if in a leverageable context.
For all the assumptions you make and dismissal of Q, Q also said that many were born in and many want a way out. Does that mean they are white hats this whole time? Fuck no. The most embedded infiltrators had to get their hands dirty to earn the trust of the enemy.
