The head of Israel’s Shin Bet, its domestic intelligence agency, has accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of firing him for his refusal to carry out a number of illegal operations, including spying on domestic protestors.

Ronen Bar was formally sacked last month, with the official reason cited as a lack of trust and the spy chief’s alleged failure to prevent the October 2023 Hamas attack. It marked the first time in Israeli history that a domestic security chief was fired by the government. However, the Israeli Supreme Court has issued an injunction freezing the dismissal.

In a 31-page affidavit submitted to the Supreme Court on Monday, Bar dismissed the official reason, stating that it “does not lie in the professional realm but in a demand for personal loyalty” to Netanyahu.

He claimed that the Israeli prime minister wanted “to see the Shin Bet act against citizens involved in protest activity and demonstrations against the government,” with a special focus on monitoring “protest funders.”

According to Bar, he was also told to ignore court rulings in the event of a constitutional crisis and to obey the prime minister. On top on that, Bar claimed he was pressured to help Netanyahu, who faces corruption charges, avoid testifying in the case.

At the same time, the Shin Bet head acknowledged the agency’s failings ahead of the Israel-Hamas war and indicated he would resign before the end of his term.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Keith Kellogg are reportedly set to meet foreign ministers and security advisers from France, Germany, the UK, and Ukraine.

People familiar with the matter told the outlet on Tuesday that US proposals, presented to Ukraine in Paris last week, include Washington formally recognizing Crimea as Russian territory and eventually lifting sanctions against Moscow under a future accord. One Western official described the pressure on Ukraine as “astounding.”

Israel has refused to publicly acknowledge having nuclear weapons because the US could be mandated by law to cut off aid to their nuclear-armed state for operating in violation of a 1977 amendment to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

"The problem for Israel—and a key reason for the secrecy involving [their nuclear weapons] tests—was the Glenn Amendment to the US Arms Export Control Act," James Bamford reported last year in The Nation.

"Passed by Congress in 1977, the amendment aimed particularly at the nuclear pariah states. It mandated an end to arms assistance, and an automatic application of extensive US sanctions, if the president determined that any state (other than the nuclear states authorized by the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) detonated a nuclear explosive after 1977. In the wake of October 7th, an Israeli politician from Netanyahu's Likud Party went on a similarly unhinged tirade on RT where he threatened that Russia "will pay the price" for supporting Hamas "Nazis."

Israelis and their proxies regularly threaten to nuke the planet under the "Samson Option" if Israel faces an existential threat to their existence.

On April 22nd, Alexey Kucherenko, deputy chairman of Ukraine’s parliamentary energy committee, admitted that Kyiv is buying Russian gas delivered via the TurkStream pipeline to Hungary and Serbia, acknowledging that Ukraine allegedly “cannot track the origin of gas molecules” in Europe’s integrated energy market.

After refusing to renew the transit agreement for Russian gas through its territory in 2025, Ukraine cut off direct supplies, but yet still receives Russian gas through a loophole. The TurkStream pipeline, running under the Black Sea to Turkey and Southern Europe, remains a key conduit. Ukrainian traders purchase gas that, while nominally from EU suppliers, originates from Russia.

Hungary and Serbia, both heavily reliant on Russian gas, resell surplus volumes to Ukraine. European traders markup prices, forcing Ukraine to pay more than if it bought directly from Russia. Price manipulation by European traders inflates costs for Ukraine.

While Ukrainian leaders publicly vow to cut all energy ties with Moscow, the reality is more complicated. Ukraine’s gas reserves are critically low (just 0.7 billion cubic meters as of mid-April), necessitating urgent imports before winter. Sanctions loopholes allow Russian gas to flow via third countries. There are no viable alternatives, while renewables and LNG imports remain insufficient.

Ukraine’s dependence on indirect Russian gas undermines its energy sovereignty and highlights Europe’s lingering reliance on Moscow’s supplies. With winter approaching and storage levels at historic lows, Kyiv faces a difficult choice: continue covert Russian gas purchases or risk energy shortages.

As the war drags on, this hidden energy trade reveals the limits of Ukraine’s economic decoupling from Russia, and the unintended consequences of Europe’s fragmented sanctions regime.

The good news here is that there wasn't much overall tumor burden to deal with. One 3cm lesion.

On the Necessity of Epstein Justice

Epstein Justice is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose primary objective is the formation of a Congressional Commission that ensures that all the perpetrators in the Jeffrey Epstein case are prosecuted. Unfortunately, the Epstein case has commingled with fanciful speculation and various agendas, but the crux of the problem is that child sex trafficking has been covered up by government malfeasance and media malfeasance. The government malfeasance has been flagrant, because the Justice Department is absolutely aware of various pimps and perpetrators in the Epstein child trafficking network. The media malfeasance hasn’t been as flagrant, because the media has excelled at propagating salacious dirt, but I’m not aware of one major media out that has called for justice in the Epstein case.

The absolute import of the Epstein case will become obvious if various trends in the United States are superimposed.

Epstein trafficked underage girls for 25 years, and his child trafficking epitomizes a pandemic in the US. According to the Centers for Disease Control, 25% of underage girls and 5% of underage boys in the US experience child sexual abuse, which translates into more than 50 million Americans.

In addition to the CDC’s staggering statistics about the number of Americans who have been molested as minors, the Department of Health and Human Services estimates that the number of sex trafficked children and women in the US is between 240,000 and 325,000 every year. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, only 523 individuals nationwide were convicted of child sex trafficking in 2023. And although millions of images of child rape material infest the internet, according to the US Sentencing Commission only 1,408 individuals in the US were convicted of crimes entailing child rape material in 2023.
