Can someone explain to me why NO TARIFFS is a good thing?

Doesn't that mean that anything can come and go at our ports

without being inspected and evaluated?

This just isn't making sense.

There surely should be stop-gaps and controls

to prevent dumping on our markets.

How did we go from "deficit markets" to "no controls"?

The reason we have farm subsidies is –

there were no controls

and farmers over-planted their fields

about the same time as there was a huge drought

Seems to me, the best way to go about things

Is

Not to make anything that doesn't already have a market

Not to grow anything that no one wants to eat

Such as GMO foods

which is the real problem with exports to EU now

GMOs are banned
