For having ptsd that you think can’t be as bad as a combat vets so you live with it
For doing the job with the highest suicide rate
For loving us all enough to stand between us and harm
For loving the country enough to try to make it make sense.
For willing to be mocked and vilified and attacked and misunderstood because you love the law
For dropping out of law school to get your boots on the ground
For letting your mom pin your new badge on you
For holding the dying hand, the child’s body, the victims heart.
