Pakistan did ‘dirty work’ for the West in supporting terrorists – defense minister

Khawaja Asif has admitted that Islamabad backed terrorist groups on behalf of the US and UK

Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has called out the West – and the US in particular – for its role in security tensions in the region. Asked about his country’s support for terrorism in an interview with Sky News released on Friday, Asif admitted that Islamabad did “the dirty work” for the Western powers for decades.

“We have been doing this dirty work for the United States for about three decades, you know and the West, including Britain,” Asif told the British broadcaster on Thursday, effectively confirming that his country has been supporting, training, and funding terrorist organizations. He addedthat this “was a mistake” and Pakistan has “suffered for that.”

“If we had not joined the war against the Soviet Union and the war after 9/11, Pakistan’s track record would have been unimpeachable,” Asif said. He was referring to the Soviet-Afghan war, during which the US covertly supported anti-communist insurgents, and the US-led ‘War on Terror’ that was launched by then-PresidentGeorge W. Bush following the September 11, 2001 attacksand which targeted the Taliban and Al-Qaeda.

Asif claimed the West has long used terrorist groups as proxies, noting that many now labeled as terrorists were once welcomed in Washington.

“When we were fighting the war on their side, way back in the ‘80s against the Soviet Union, allthese terrorists of today, they were wining and dining in Washington… They were treated like VIPs in those days,” he said.

The minister suggested that groups considered terrorists in the region are not distinct entities butpart of a single organization with a shared religious ideology. “They’re all mixed up. They’re not multiple organizations. They’re just one single organization, religiously organized, and with different faces, different leadership. At times they work together, at times they fight with each other.”==

Asif went on to saythat “no country in the world has suffered so much from terrorism as Pakistan,” and accused India of following “a pattern” of blaming Pakistan for terrorist attacks on its soil.

The minister’s remarks came amid an escalation between Islamabad and New Delhi, which followed a deadly attack in Indian-administered Kashmir that left 26 people dead earlier this week.

The Resistance Front, a militant group believed to be linked to the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, has reportedly claimed responsibility, prompting New Delhi – which has long accused Pakistan of aiding militant infiltrations in the region – to signal that it holds Islamabad indirectly responsible.

Asif, however, claimed that Islamabad has “never heard of” the organization, while the Lashkar-e-Taiba “no longer exists.” He said it was simply “very convenient” for the “big powers to blame Pakistan for whatever is happening in this region.”

Asif also suggested the Kashmir incident was a “false flag” operation. When asked what would happen if the current standoff with India escalated to the point of airstrikes, he warned Islamabad would “retaliate in kind.”

Biometrics Active – A Weird Thing Happened Returning Through Airport

April 24, 2025 | Sundance |

As most of you know I have been traveling extensively. However, a strange thing happened today upon return through the airport.

Apparently, all of the test pilots for biometrics, real ID etc. are now linked and active. As I approached the passport control kiosk with my passport in hand, the gentleman said “welcome back, enjoy the rest of your day,” and that was it.

I stood there for a second, asked if he needed my passport and he said, “no, you’re good. Go on through.” It seems the facial recognition software is live. You no longer need to show your U.S. passport or any ID when arriving through U.S. international passport control.

Now, I should say I have never signed up for TSA pre-check, Fast Track, or any other kind of Global Travel authentication. I have always opted to just be a grey traveler with as little a footprint as possible. I reentered the U.S. the same way in February and needed to show the traditional passport, etc. However, this time in April it was totally different. There is no longer any paperwork or documentation needed. It actually, seemed a little weird.

I should also note the U.S. “opt-out” for facial scans is a little bit of a ruse; the reason is when you depart from a foreign country, destined to the USA, the facial recognition is mandatory. The U.S. Dept of Homeland Security, TSA and Border Control, require all countries to authenticate the U.S. destined traveler at the point of exit. It’s not optional in other countries, you either comply or you don’t get to come home to the USA.

Because it’s not optional in other countries, and because the database is connected to the U.S. border entry system, the fact you can opt-out of having your picture taken inside the USA is moot; your facial impression is already captured at your point of departure from the foreign country and shared with U.S. homeland security.

This appears to be how the interconnected systems are now recording travel. By the time you reach the U.S. entry point, they already have a database of your biometrics to match your entry. Cameras located facing toward the traveler as they approach the kiosk, cross reference the data and the passport control officer knows exactly what authorities for entry you carry as you approach. Showing documentation such as your passport is no longer needed.

As I mentioned this on my X-account, several people affirmed to have recently experienced the same entry process. Physical passports are no longer required regardless of whether you have opted-in to some pre-registration fast track travel system. You simply walk through the passport checkpoints now and collect your luggage.

I have seen this in several countries with varying degrees of technological advancement. However, it was usually when you are connecting from one flight to another within a singular international airport. This is different. This is the TSA/DHS database fully active with biometric, facial recognition scanning that you cannot avoid.

This process is obviously unavoidable now and given how much research CTH has done on the AI aspect to facial recognition (Palantir software), real id and enhanced biometrics that were being tested in various transportation hubs, it looks like the system is now fully active. April 5th was the universal deadline for “Real ID” rollout, and I’m guessing sometime around then was the trigger date for the live activation of the system I just experienced.

All of that said, this notification by me is not to raise any alarms, it is simply to raise awareness. The system is active, and you will likely experience it if you travel outside the USA and then reenter.

Everything seems cool, until you start to think about your biometric identity being attached to some form of travel approval. Owe the govt money, you don’t get to travel until the issue is resolved etc. You can see how this ‘slippery slope’ will likely play out. Additionally, it does not take a deep weeds thinker to expand the consideration when this DHS/TSA system is in the hands of a certain type of political ideology in charge of it (weaponizing it).

Trump names Russia’s ‘big concession’ on Ukraine

Moscow has compromised by not seizing the whole of the neighboring country, the US president has said

Russia has made a major concession in Ukraine peace talks by refraining from taking over the entire country, US President Donald Trump has said.

Speaking during a press conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store on Thursday, Trump expressed optimism about achieving major progress in the settlement within two weeks.

Askedwhat concessions Russia was making in peace negotiationsover Ukraine, the US president replied:“Stopping the war… Stop taking the whole country, pretty big concession.”

Moscow has long insisted that the Ukraine conflict could end quickly if Kiev commits to bloc neutrality and demilitarization, and recognizes the territorial realities on the ground, namely the decision by Crimea and four other former Ukrainian regions to overwhelmingly vote to join Russia.

When pressed onwhether Ukraine would have to cede territory to secure peace, Trump would not rule out the possibility, saying:“It depends [on] what territory. We’ll do the best we can, but they lost a lot of territory.”

However, the US leader also insisted that his administration was “putting a lot of pressure on Russia.”

His comments came after Trump signaled he was “not happy” with the recent Russian missile and drone strikes across Ukraine, calling them “not necessary, and very bad timing.” “Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Let’s get the Peace Deal DONE!” he wrote on Truth Social.

Ukrainian officials have claimed that 12 people were killed and more than 100 injured in the strikes, with Kiev taking the brunt of the damage. Russia’s Defense Ministry said the strikes targeted military-related industries, including rocket fuel and gunpowder production facilities. Moscow also maintains that its attacks never target civilians.

When asked whether he would consider additional sanctions against Russia if the attacks continue, Trump declined to give a definitive answer. “I want to see if we can have a deal. No reason to answer it now, but I won’t be happy.”he said. “Let me put it that way – things, things will happen.”

Commenting on the Ukraine conflict settlement process, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov suggested on Thursday thatMoscow and Washington are “moving in the right direction.” “We are ready to reach a deal. But there are still some specific points, elements of this deal which need to be fine-tuned, and we are busy with this exact process,”he said.

Ukraine preparing for loss of US support – Bild

Officials in Kiev fear a “worst-case scenario” in which Washington cuts off all aid, according to the German tabloid

(That’s the reason they will not sign the peace agreement, it’s about the money, not about territory. The Oligarchs want more.)

Kiev is bracing for a “worst-case scenario” in which US President Donald Trump cuts off all American support, German tabloid Bild has reported, citing anonymous sources within the Ukrainian government.

Trump has reportedly increased pressure on Ukraine to quickly accept Washington’s “final offer” to resolve the conflict. He has also warned that if negotiations between Moscow and Kiev stall, the US may “take a pass” and withdraw from its role as a mediator.

“We are preparing for the worst-case scenario… and that means an end to US support,” an unnamed government insider told the paper.

Another Ukrainian diplomat reportedly said“What is on paper and what is being signaled to us in the negotiations is unacceptable.”

The US president has been pushing for a resolution to the conflict, while also seeking a minerals extraction agreement with Ukraine to help offset the billions of dollars Washington has spent on military and financial aid. Trump temporarily halted military supplies and intelligence sharing with Kiev following a public dispute with Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky at the White House in February.

On Wednesday,Trump reiterated that Zelensky – who he once described as a “dictator without elections” – has been “more difficult to deal with”than Russian President Vladimir Putin. The remark came after Zelensky publicly rejected a reported provision of the US peace framework, insisting earlier this week that Kiev will not even discuss formally recognizing Crimea as Russian territory.

According to Bild, some officials in Kiev hope that Trump’s personal jabs at Zelensky were merely his way to apply pressure. “Our hope was that it was Trump’s negotiating tactic,” the outlet cited a Ukrainian government insider as saying. The report added that Kiev is now trying to renegotiate with Washington while simultaneously seeking support from its European sponsors.

Kiev is still receiving weapons pledged by the previous US administration, but no new aid packages have been authorized since Trump took office, Zelensky said on Monday. His recent pleas for additional Patriot batteries and missiles have also gone unanswered.(Trump answered a question of a reporter, are you going to send the bombs Kiev needs, Trump’s response was “Zelensky is always asking for bombs”)

Moscow has maintained that it is open to peace talks, provided its core security demands are addressed. It opposes any NATO presence on Ukrainian soil and has demanded that Kiev recognize Russia’s new borders and abandon its plans to join the US-led military bloc. Moscow has condemned the continued flow of Western weapons as detrimental to any lasting peace.

The Russian government has also said it will not accept a temporary freeze of the conflict, which would only lead to renewed hostilities later on, citing Ukraine’s multiple violations of an Easter ceasefire and an earlier US-mediated moratorium on strikes against energy infrastructure as proof of Kiev’s untrustworthiness.

Bomb kills Russian general

Yaroslav Moskalik, general staff deputy chief of operations, has been assassinated in a car bomb plot outside Moscow

A Russian two-star general serving as deputy operations chief of the general staff has been killed by a car bomb, officials have confirmed.

The incident that claimed the life of Lt.Gen. Yaroslav Moskalik occurred on Friday morning in the suburban Moscow town of Balashikha.

Russia’s Investigative Committee has said the improvised explosive device planted inside the car was packed with metal fragments for additional lethality.

The news agency TASS has reported that investigators estimated the yield of the device as the equivalent of 300 grams of TNT.

The aftermath of the attack was filmed by witnesses. The footage suggests that the vehicle used in the attack, which was parked next to other cars inside a residential area next to a high-rise apartment block, was burned out following the explosion.

Last December, a bombing attack that Russian investigators blamed on Ukrainian special services killed Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov, who served as the commander of the Russian Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Defense Forces (RChBZ). He was assassinated alongside an aide as they were coming out of a building in Moscow.

The operation reportedly involved an explosive device hidden inside an electric scooter, which was placed next to the entrance and monitored through a camera set up in a parked car, which allowed the perpetrators to time the remote detonation.

Ukraine recruiting terrorists for attacks in Russia – security chief

The Crocus City massacre, in which 145 died, is a model for attacks envisaged by Kiev, Sergey Shoigu has said

Ukrainian military intelligence is enlisting migrants and others in Russia and equipping them to carry out high-profile attacks, Sergey Shoigu, secretary of Russia’s National Security Council has said.

The former defense minister cited atrocities such as the deadly assault at the March 2023 Crocus City Hall concert venue near Moscow, in which gunmen opened fire and set fire to to the concert venue, killing 145 and injuring over 550.

The Islamic State-Khorasan (ISIS-K) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack, which was one of the deadliest in recent Russian history. The suspects, all Tajik nationals, were captured while fleeing towards the Ukrainian border.

Russian secret services have arrested 45 people connected to the attack, Shoigu told TASS on Friday.Ukrainian military intelligence “is actively recruiting members of international terrorist organizations,” including among migrants, he claimed.

“They are provided with comprehensive support in terms of equipment and training to carry out high-profile attacks, such as the assault on Crocus City Hall,” he said.

According to Shoigu, the threat from international terrorist organizations persists, as they“continue efforts to establish covert cells and underground networks within Russia, particularly in the North Caucasus.”

He also warned of a significant threat from the West, which he claimed is using terrorist groups in an attempt to contain Russia in key geopolitical regions, including Central and South Asia, the South Caucasus, Transnistria, the Middle East, and Africa.

Last month Russia’s Investigative Committee stated that the assault on Crocus City Hall wasmasterminded by the intelligence services of an “unfriendly country” in order to destabilize Russia.

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) Chief Aleksandr Bortnikov has also spoken about Kiev’s involvement in the Crocus City Hall atrocity. He warned that “Ukrainian and Western intelligence services are expanding the circle of possible perpetrators, recruited to commit high-profile crimes inside Russia.”

US arrests suspect linked to 2024 Moscow terrorist attack

Mohammad Sharifullah, a member of ISIS-K, has been linked to the deadly assault on the Crocus City Hall concert venue in Russia

The US authorities have arrested asuspect linked to several high-profile terrorist attacks, including the deadly assault onMoscow’s Crocus City Hall concert venuein March 2024, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has said.

Identified as Mohammad Sharifullah, the Afghan national is a member of an offshoot of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) known as ISIS-K, the DOJ stated. The organization is primarily active in Afghanistan. According to CNN, the man was transported to the US from Pakistan earlier this week.

The US authorities have charged Sharifullah with “providing and conspiring to provide material support and resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization resulting in death,”according to the DOJ statement. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.

Sharifullah admitted during FBI questioning that he provided the Crocus City Hall attackers with instructions on how to use their weapons, the US authorities said. He also specifically named two gunmen as people he had previously instructed.

The March 2024 attack, which involved four gunmen, was one of the biggest terrorist attacks in recent Russian history. The assailants killed 145 people and injured over 500 others.

All of the gunmen were arrested by Russian law enforcement as they sought to flee the country through the border with Ukraine. Around three dozen suspects were arrested in connection to the case.

According to the DOJ, Sharifullah was also allegedly instrumental in the terrorist attack against US forces guarding the Kabul airportduring America’s hasty withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021.

The suicide bombing attack claimed the lives of 13 American servicemen and around 160 civilians. Sharifullah admitted to the FBI to scouting the route for the suicide bomber, ensuring that he would not be detected. He is also suspected of providing surveillance for another terrorist suicide bomber who detonated himself outside of the Canadian Embassy in Kabul in 2016, killing over ten guards.

Russia ‘ready for a deal’ with US on Ukraine – Lavrov

Moscow says negotiations are progressing, but details of Washington’s proposal remain confidential

Moscow and Washington are “moving in the right direction” toward finalizing an agreement to end the Ukraine conflict, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with CBS News on Thursday.

US President Donald Trump has reportedly increased pressure on Kiev in recent weeks to accept Washington’s “final offer” for resolving the conflict, though the exact details of the proposal remain undisclosed. Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, is expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin again on Friday.

“Well, the president of the United States believes, and I think rightly so, that we are moving in the right direction,”Lavrov told Face the Nation. “The statement by the president mentions a deal, and we are ready to reach a deal. But there are still some specific points, elements of this deal which need to be fine-tuned, and we are busy with this exact process.”

While Lavrov reaffirmed Moscow’s openness to an agreement, he declined to elaborate on the contents of the proposed deal, citing confidentiality.

“The president of the United States did not spell out the elements of the deal, so it is not appropriate for me to do this,”he added.

Trump has openly accused Vladimir Zelensky of “harming” the negotiations – and warned that he could lose the entirety of his country – after the Ukrainian leader stated that Kiev would never even discuss formally recognizing Crimea as Russian territory. The White House also accused Zelensky of engaging in megaphone diplomacy, after he publicly rejected what is believed to be one of the key points in the proposed US peace framework.

Moscow has long maintained its willingness to negotiate, although Russian officials have stressed that any viable peace agreement must include formal recognition of territorial realities on the ground and address core security concerns – including Ukrainian neutrality and a prohibition on NATO forces and infrastructure on its territory.

Lavrov said Trump is “probably the only leader on Earth who recognized the need to address the root causes of this situation,” calling it one of the “signs that we are moving in the right direction.”

Both Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have indicated that the US may reconsider its role as a mediator and shift focus to other global “priorities” if progress is not made soon. According to Bild, this has reportedly prompted Kiev to prepare for a “worst-case scenario” in which the US cuts off all support.

European leaders reject US proposal on Crimea – FT

Trump recently slammed Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky for refusing to even consider relinquishing claims over the peninsula

European leaders have rejected a US proposal to recognize Russia’s sovereignty over Crimea as part of a draft peace dealon the Ukraine conflict, the Financial Times reported on Thursday. European officials told the outlet that such a move could cause a rift within NATO and force Kiev’s backers to choose between sticking with Ukraine or siding with Washington.

(Crimea has been Russia’s territory for at least 800+ years and that’s Russia’s only warm water port they can send ships to sea. If the EU causes a rift, good we can leave NATO. They are not bright people there!)

According to the report, US President Donald Trump’s team has presented Ukraine with a take-it-or-leave-it deal that includes Washington formally recognizing Crimea as Russian territory. US Vice President J.D. Vance has also suggested freezing the conflict along the current lines of control.

A senior European diplomat told the FT that it would be “impossible” to accept the US proposal, while one EU official claimed that “Crimea and future NATO membership aspirations are red lines for us.”

(He’s lying there are three EU countries that are very opposed to Ukraine ever getting in NATO, it’s only takes one vote against it to stop it being passed. Again Crimea will never be given to Ukraine. Plus Ukraine is a bankrupt country, they cannot afford NATO, and why do they want Crimea when the citizens joined Russia. Kiev would persecute any territory that joined Russia, if they got them back. Why are diplomats so undiplomatic?)

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has also refused to even consider conceding Crimea, stating that the country’s constitution prohibits such a move.

Trump has criticized Zelensky’s stance, calling it “very harmful” to peace negotiations and stating that “Crimea was lost years ago.” “He can have Peace or, he can fight for another three years before losing the whole Country,” the US president wrote on social media this week.

Officials cited by the FT said thatif Trump unilaterally recognizes Crimea or lifts sanctions on Russia, it could trigger a severe split within NATO as well as the EU.*

The Trump administration recently warned that the US could end its involvement in Ukraine peace talks if there is no progress soon, but also noted he has found it easier to negotiate with Russia than with Zelensky.

Moscow has expressed appreciation for the Trump administration’s efforts to negotiate a settlement of the conflict, and has indicated that it will maintain contact with Washington on the issue.

At the same time, Russian officials have said that Kiev and its European backers don’t appear to want the conflict to end and are consistently undermining peace efforts.

(*The EU already hates Trump and the U.S., how much more severe can the relationship split? That’s how you know these threats are not effective. EU country leaders are racing to meet with Trump, it’s highly doubtful Ursula can stop EU country relationships with the U.S. and Trump, she can’t cause a split.)

Crimea will stay with Russia – Trump

The US president has claimed that even Zelensky understands the peninsula will remain under Moscow’s control in a final settlement

The Crimean Peninsula will remain a part of Russia under a final settlement of the Ukraine conflict, US President Donald Trump has said in an interview with Time Magazine published on Friday.

Crimea officially joined the Russian Federation in 2014 after a referendum that followed a Western-backed coup in Kiev. Ukraine and its backers have dismissed the results of the referendum as illegitimate, and Kiev has continued to claim sovereignty over the peninsula, vowing to take it back by any means necessary.

In an interview to mark his first 100 days in office, Trump said Crimea “went to the Russians” long ago and suggested that “everyone understands” that Ukraine will not be able to get it back.

“Crimea will stay with Russia” under a final settlement of the Ukraine conflict, Trump went on to say, adding that even Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky understands this. “It’s been with them for a long time,” the US president stated, noting that Russia had its submarines there “long before any period that we’re talking about” and that the majority of Crimeans speak Russian.

Trump also stressed that the peninsula was “given” to Russia by former US President Barack Obama, claiming that the whole conflict is “Obama’s war,” which “should have never happened.”

Since returning to office in January, Trump has been pressuring both Moscow and Kiev to settle the conflict. During last year’s election campaign, he said he would end the hostilities “within 24 hours” of entering the White House. He told Time, however, that he said this “figuratively” as an “exaggeration.”

Recently, Trump has signaled that he has grown frustrated with the lack of progress on reaching a resolution of the Ukraine conflict. He has expressed dissatisfaction with Zelensky, saying he has found Russia much easier to negotiate with than the Ukrainian leader. In a Truth Social post this week, the US president criticized Zelensky for refusing to even consider any territorial concessions.

Russia has expressed its appreciation for Trump’s peace efforts and has repeatedly indicated that it is open to negotiations. However, Russian officials have stressed that a final peace deal must respect the territorial realities on the ground and address the root causes of the conflict, such as Ukraine’s NATO aspirations.

In his interview with Time,Trump acknowledged that Ukraine would likely never be able to join NATO. He cited Kiev’s ambitions to enter the US-led bloc as the issue that “caused the war to start.”

“If that weren’t brought up, there would have been a much better chance that [the conflict] wouldn’t have started,” he said. (Joe, NATO and EU kept promising membership to Zelensky.)

Trump’s peace plan triggers ‘concern’ among allies – CNN

European and Asian diplomats have claimed a territorial settlement in Ukraine could send a “dangerous message”

Officials in Western Europe and Asia have claimed US President Donald Trump'sreported framework to end the Ukraine conflict could set a precedent for territorial conquest, CNN reported on Thursday, citing anonymous sources. (It’s obvious none of them want the war to end, they’re making too much money on it, while soldiers die daily)

The framework, which has not been officially confirmed by the White House, reportedly includes US recognition of Crimea as Russian territory and acknowledgement of Moscow’s control over large parts of four former Ukrainian regions that have joined Russia. US Vice President J.D.Vance has also stated that the administration is considering the option to “freeze the territorial lines at some level close to where they are today.”

CNN citedseveral unnamed diplomatswho criticized the proposed settlement, claiming it would “reward” Russian President Vladimir Putin and send a “dangerous message” to other leaders, including China’s Xi Jinping. (This sounds like CNN made up this whole article.)

“This is about the fundamental principles of international law,” one Eastern European diplomat told CNN, claiming that “if one country in Europe is forced to give up parts of its own legal territory… no country in Europe or elsewhere can feel safe, NATO or no NATO.” (More Bullshit)

Moscow has repeatedly denied having any intention to strike NATO or EU countries, or claim their territories, accusing Western officials of “fearmongering” in order to justify further militarization.

Nevertheless, many Eastern European governments, such as Poland and the Baltic states, have cited the supposed threat of a Russian attack as justification for increasing defense budgets and deploying additional forces.

The CNN report comes as US special envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to meet with Russian officials in Moscow for another round of talks in the coming days. Trump has warned that Washington could abandon its diplomatic efforts altogether if no significant progress is made in the peace effort soon.

Trump has publicly expressed frustration with Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky, whom he has accused of obstructing peace efforts by refusing to even consider any territorial concessions. At the same time, the US president has suggested that he has found Russia easier to negotiate with than Ukraine.

Moscow has welcomed the Trump administration’s attempts to settle the conflict. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated this week that Moscow and Washington are “moving in the right direction” with regard to reaching a peace deal.

Russian officials have repeatedly said that Moscow remains open to a negotiated solution, but have emphasized that any peace agreement must reflect the territorial realities on the ground and address the root causes of the conflict.

(They are just pissed that Europe and EUs attempt to negate Putin and Russians was removed by Trump. They will never give up their desire to depose Putin and cut the country in 4 parts to rape it of the gigantic natural resources. That was their reason for the war. Musk mocks Zelensky’s aid transparency claims

Ukrainian assurances that all US weapons and funds are fully accounted for are the “funniest thing,” the billionaire has quipped

US government efficiency tsar and tech billionaire Elon Musk has ridiculed Vladimir Zelensky’s claims that all American aid received by Ukraine is fully accounted for.

Washington has provided around $200 billion to Kiev, according to US President Donald Trump, who has insisted that US expenditures should be recouped by access to Ukrainian mineral resources.

Zelensky has consistently disputed Trump's math, most recently in an interview on Thursday.

“We have complete reporting, accounting, absolutely transparent,”Zelensky he told Ben Shapiro. All Western assistance is rigorously monitored by both foreign and domestic auditors, he claimed, dismissing Trump's figures as Russian “fake news.”

Senator Mike Lee shared a clip of Zelensky’s comments on X. Musk, who owns X, responded with “Funniest thing I’ve read all day,”accompanied by two rolling-on-the-floor-laughing emojis.

Zelensky informed Shapiro that Ukrainian records show approximately $105 billion in US aid, primarily in the form of weaponry. He asserted that no arms had been diverted to the black market, based on Defense Ministry documentation. He emphasized that he was not disputing Trump’s figure but merely reporting what the “output” was on the Ukrainian side. (Every country in Europe the East, the Middle East, and Mexico reported Ukraine arms were sold to terrorists around the world.)

In February, Zelensky claimed that Ukrainians had received “about $76 billion” in US aid, addinghe did not know what had happened to the remaining funds from the claimed $200 billion.

Ukraine’s Defense Ministry has faced numerous corruption scandals in recent years, including the notorious “Reznikov’s golden eggs,” which involved allegations of overpriced food procurement for the military during 2022-2023 under then-Defense Minister Aleksey Reznikov.

This month, the authorities in Kiev announced charges against a former military procurement chief and several business associates suspected of profiting from the scheme. The minister was dismissed in September 2023, months after the pricing irregularities were revealed, but he has not been charged with any crime.

(I got an idea, when the war is settled, the U.S. gov should seize all of Zelensky’s and the Oligarchs expensive homes and property around the world, like Bidan did to Russia Oligarchs.)

Spare Nord Stream pipes still stored in Germany – media

The stockpile is reportedly sufficient to fully repair the gas pipeline, made inoperable in an act of sabotage in 2022

Germany continues to store spare pipes for the Nord Stream gas pipeline, which was rendered inoperable by sabotage in September 2022, Ostsee Zeitung has reported. The stockpile is reportedly large enough to fully repair the damaged sections.

Three of the four pipelines were fractured in underwater explosions that caused severe leaks in September 2022, just months after the escalation of the Ukraine conflict. The pipelines were shut down, and the Nord Stream 2 gas receiving station in the German port city of Lubmin was mothballed. No perpetrators have been officially named, though investigations continue, and some reports have pointed to Kiev.

According to the outlet, around 1,000 replacement pipes worth €25 million ($28 million) remain stored in two warehouses near Lubmin.

“The material has a high value,” a source familiar with the situation said. “Such a quantity of pipes should be approximately enough to repair the destroyed sections,” they added.

Another source said the underwater repairs would be “relatively easy in the technical sense”and fast, assuming the materials don’t require new production.

Hans-Peter Huber, a lawyer for pipeline operator Nord Stream 2 AG, a subsidiary of Russia’s Gazprom, confirmed that the pipes remain in Lubmin and belong to the operators. He said their recovery has been complicated by insolvency proceedings in Switzerland concerning the company’s debts to minor creditors.

As a result of Western sanctions, around €70 million in company funds held at an EU bank were frozen, blocking payments to debtors, Huber noted. The company has until May 9 to settle with creditors or face bankruptcy, which could lead to roughly 500 of the stored pipes being auctioned off. The proceedings do not affect Nord Stream 1, however, which is not in insolvency, Huber added.

Gazprom previously said the pipelines could be restored, though the process could take more than a year.

Amid signs of athaw in US-Russia ties following President Donald Trump’s return to office, both sides have reportedly discussed restoring Nord Stream as part of Ukraine peace talks.

According to Politico,Washington is considering lifting sanctions on Nord Stream and other Russian assets in Europe as part of the efforts. Other outlets reported a potential deal that would allow US investors to acquire a stake in Nord Stream 2 to prevent its bankruptcy. Under the plan,Russia would reportedly retain ownership while US companies would manage the operations.

Bild reported last month that a US-led consortium has already outlined a proposal to partner with Gazprom once sanctions are lifted. However, there has not been official confirmation of the plans from either Moscow or Washington so far.(America and Europe owe that to Russia)

Trump envoy in Moscow for talks with Putin: LIVE UPDATES

Steve Witkoff’s visit to Russia aims to advance a US-proposed peace plan that faces opposition from Ukraine and its Western supporters

Steve Witkoff, the special envoy for US President Donald Trump, has arrived in Moscow for another series of discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This trip is part of a larger diplomatic initiative by Washington aimed at advancing a proposed peace plan to address the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Witkoff has already visited Russia three times in recent months, engaging with high-ranking Russian officials, including Putin. The continuing negotiations highlight a growing commitment from both nations to resolve the hostilities through dialogue.

The proposal from Washington reportedly involves recognizing Russia’s sovereignty over Crimea, “freezing” the conflict along the current front lines, and acknowledging Moscow’s control over significant portions of the four former Ukrainian regions voted to join Russia. Additionally, the agreement would likely prevent Ukraine from joining NATO and involve a gradual lifting of sanctions imposed on Russia.

Russia has conveyed its gratitude for Trump’s peace initiatives and has consistently shown willingness to engage in negotiations. However, Russian officials have emphasized that any final peace agreement must acknowledge the existing territorial realities and tackle the underlying causes of the conflict, including Ukraine’s ambitions to join NATO.

‘Coalition of the willing’ resolve eroding – The Times

France and the UK reportedly showed a weakening desire to deploy troops to Ukraine at recent talks

France and the UK displayed a weakening resolve to put boots on the ground in Ukraine, during recent talks in London, The Times has reported, citing anonymous sources.

Defense chiefs from a number of European NATO states have been debating deploying forces to Ukraine as part of a self-titled “coalition of the willing.”

The idea, led by France and the UK, was proposed as a means of providing Kiev with security guarantees in the event of a ceasefire with Russia. Moscow has rejected outright the idea of troops from the US-led military bloc being deployed to Ukraine under any pretext.

According to The Times, the UK-French plan was rolled back during talks in the UK capital on Wednesday.

“Sir Keir Starmer and President Macron of France have offered to deploy troops to Ukraine to keep the peace as part of a ‘coalition of the willing,’ but during talks in London sources told The Times there appeared to be a softening of the commitment,” the newspaper wrote on Wednesday.

However, a defense source told the outlet that the UK is not prepared to abandon the plans entirely.

Some European officials realise that Moscow would never tolerate the deployment of a force of NATO members' troops to Ukraine, The Times reported. (Russia has been screaming this for 30+ years and they are just realizing that now?)

Russia has warned that it will consider such a troop presence as a NATO deployment, under the guise of peacekeepers or otherwise, and will treat it as a valid military target. Moscow has repeatedly stated that NATO’s eastward expansion and Kiev’s aspirations to join the military bloc are among the root causes of the Ukraine conflict.

The deployment of NATO troops in Ukraine could lead to a direct clash between the US-led bloc and Russia, setting off World War III, Russia’s National Security Council Secretary and former Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has said.

The troop deployment plan comes as EU states have floated a $840 militarization plan for the bloc, citing a perceived threat from Russia.

Moscow has repeatedly criticized the EU’s continued flow of armaments to Ukraine, arguing that Western European nations appear more interested in prolonging the fighting rather than resolving the conflict diplomatically.

https://www.rt.com/news/616223-coalition-willing-resolve-eroding/

(The military in both France and UK have been criticizing this stupid idea. France and UK don’t even have enough troops, and their caveats for going, was U.S. troops need to back them up. So I guess they just realized it when Hegseth said U.S. troops will never be sent there.)

Politico Europe pushes the Russia Hoax again

‘Free world needs a new leader’: Europe defends Zelenskyy after Trump attack

France, Germany and Poland all make prompt declarations of support as Europe fears Trump’s alignment with Putin.

FEBRUARY 28, 2025 9:45 PM CET

BRUSSELS ― European leaders on Friday rallied to defend Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after United States President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance subjected him to a tirade of withering and infantilizing abuse in the Oval Office.

European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said: “Today, it became clear that the free world needs a new leader. It’s up to us, Europeans, to take this challenge.” (KEK none of them can agree on anything, except hating Trump!)

In what may prove a significant turning point in the tottering postwar Western alliance between Europe and the United States, the Europeans pushed back against Washington’s increasing alignment with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Trump's browbeating of Zelenskyy.

“There is an aggressor, which is Russia and a people who have suffered aggression, which is Ukraine,” said French President Emmanuel Macron, hitting back at Trump’s attempts to treat the two sides evenly. “You have to respect those who have been fighting since the beginning because they are fighting for their dignity, their independence, for their children, and for the security of Europe.”

Macron also noted that the U.S. had not been the only country to support Kyiv, stressing that it was also backed by European countries, Canada and Japan.

In the Oval Office, Trump told Zelenskyy his refusal to concede to Russia at the negotiating table was “gambling with World War III.”

Later, Macron told Portuguese television: “If someone is playing World War III, his name is Vladimir Putin.”

Major rift

Germany's almost-certain next chancellor, Friedrich Merz, struck a similar tone addressing a tweet directly to "Dear Volodymyr" in which he vowed to stand with Ukraine “in good and in testing times.”

Over the past weeks, Europe has been steeling itself for a major rift with Washington over Trump’s hectoring treatment of Ukraine and its leader.

While European leaders have been pushing for a comprehensive deal in which the U.S. would offer postwar security guarantees, Trump has resisted such suggestions and has concentrated his efforts on boasting that he can get Ukraine — rather than Russia — to repay America for aid through a deal on critical raw materials.

Leaving little doubt of his preference for Putin over Zelenskyy, Trump slammed the Ukrainian leader as a “dictator” while hailing Russia's leader as trustworthy. Trump has also adopted the Kremlin’s positions that Kyiv should not join NATO and should give up invaded land.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk sent a message to Zelenskyy insisting, “Dear Ukrainian friends, you are not alone,” while the office of Sweden's prime minister said: “You are not only fighting for your freedom but also for all of Europe’s.”

The Czech Republic, Spain, Latvia and Lithuania all sent similar messages of support.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen tweeted: “Be strong, be brave, be fearless. You are never alone, dear President@ZelenskyyUa.” In coordinated communication, the presidents of the European Council and Parliament sent out the same message.

Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever stressed that his country stood behind Ukraine, saying “their fight is our fight,” while Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp underlined support for Ukraine would come in the form of “whatever it takes, for as long as it takes.”

Italy’s hard-right leader Giorgia Meloni, a close Trump ally, called on Europeans not to allow deep divisions to open up with Washington and said Rome would, in the hours ahead, call for an EU-U.S. summit to get diplomacy back on track.

“What is needed is an immediate summit between the United States, European states, and allies to talk frankly about how we intend to deal with the great challenges of today, starting with Ukraine, which together we have defended in recent years,” she said.

As it is, some European leaders will meet among themselves in London on Sunday at the invitation of U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Zelenskyy is due to join them. A spokesperson for Starmer said he'd spoken to Zelenskyy and Trump on Friday night.

Starmer “retains unwavering support for Ukraine,” the spokesperson said.

Hungarian Prime MinisterViktor Orbán took the opposite approach, thanking Trump for standing “bravely for peace."

“Strong men make peace, weak men make war,”Orbán posted on X.

Bowen: Zelensky buoyant, but Europe will struggle to guarantee Ukraine's security 1/4

(More reasons to ditch Zelenskyy and Ukraine and forget about this asshole)

27 March 2025

Jeremy Bowen Editor in Paris BBC of course

President Volodymyr Zelensky was in a buoyant mood when I met him in Paris with a panel of three other European journalists. He had interrupted a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace and went back there for what he called a "tête à tête dinner" after the interview.

Macron had not just rolled out the red carpet for him. The Eiffel Tower, behind Zelensky in a picture window as we talked in one of Paris's great museums, was lit up in yellow and blue, the colours of the Ukrainian national flag.

The French wanted him to feel as if he was among friends. Zelensky had come to Paris to meet leaders and diplomats from 30 other countries who are working out what they can contribute to the "coalition of the willing", the group that UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron are trying to organise to offer Ukraine security guarantees if there is a long-term ceasefire.

Zelensky's welcome in Paris was a clear contrast to the dressing down he was given by US President Donald Trump and his vice president JD Vance when he visited the White House last month.

After their verbal attack, Zelensky was unceremoniously turfed out of the White House and not long afterwards Trump ordered the suspension of American military aid and intelligence to Ukraine.

It was restored after Zelensky, advised by the British, the French and other European allies, went out of his way to mend his fences with Trump and his administration.

He switched to the kind of flattering language Trump demands and agreed to an American plan for an unconditional 30-day ceasefire. He dropped his insistence on US security guarantees first, to underpin any ceasefire.

But even though US military and intelligence assistance is flowing, Trump's ruthless suspension of it, which cost Ukrainian lives, has left a deep sense of unease in Ukraine and among its European allies.

The evidence is piling up that Trump's United States is not a reliable ally. It is getting easier to sketch out scenarios in which it might not be an ally at all.

Most European leaders still try to act publicly as if the 80-year-old alliance with the US is healthy. But the gathering of 30 countries in Parisshows they realise they can no longer rely on the benevolence of the United States.

American presidents going back to Dwight D. Eisenhower in the late 1950s have complained, with good reason, about Europeans getting a free ride from the US security blanket over Europe. Trump has finally pulled it away.

Europe 'has discipline and no chaos'

During the interview, Zelensky praised the array of plans that are being formulated in western Europe – led by the UK, France and Germany – to spend more on defence.

He suggested that in three to five years, "if everything goes as it is now", Europe might even catch up with the United States.

At best, that is a highly optimistic estimate, less an accurate forecast and more a gesture of appreciation for European allies who unlike the Americans attach very few conditions and strings to support for Ukraine.(they got loan agreements, Joe just gave the money. Loan agreements are strings)

Europe, Zelensky said, "has discipline and no chaos". That might be seen as an oblique and unflattering comparison with the twists and turns coming out of the Trump White House.

I asked him about the conditions Russia's President Vladimir Putin has attached to the latest small step in the Trump peace initiative, which is a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea.

After Ukraine and Russia held separate meetings with the Americans in Saudi Arabia, the Kremlin issued a statement that required concessions as Russia's price for a ceasefire.

The most significant demand was for a state-owned Russian bank to be readmitted to the Swift system for international payments. That would open a door back into mainstream global commerce for Russia.

That decision does not depend on Trump, as Swift is based in Belgium.

The European Union foreign affairs spokeswoman responded with a statement saying one of the "main preconditions" for lifting or amending sanctions on Russia was "the end of the Russian unprovoked and unjustified aggression in Ukraine and the unconditional withdrawal of all Russian military forces from the entire territory of Ukraine".

Even Trump, reluctant to criticise Putin, suggested that Russia might be "dragging its feet" in the negotiations with the US. It reminded him of his own business career.

He told the US cable channel Newsmax that"I've done it over the years… I don't want to sign a contract. I want to sort of stay in the game."

I asked Zelensky where the push for a ceasefire stood, given Russia's demands. He called for a resolute response from the Americans.

"If America is going to stand strong and not bend to the conditions of the Russians - we stand on our land.

"We are defending it; we have shown our resilience to everyone… And now it's very important that our partners would be resilient and strong, at least at the minimum, as we are."

I asked whether he believed the Americans would, as he put it, stay strong.

"I hope so. I hope so. God bless they will. But we'll see."

Zelensky has no choice about stating his faith in Trump's America, even though he must have grave doubts.

Trump's decision to punish Ukraine by cutting off military intelligence about Russia missile launches had an immediate and deadly impact, and Zelensky had to work hard to get Trump to relent. He does not want it to happen again.

He was open aboutwhy he had to try to stay close to Trump, even as the US president seemed to be prioritising the restoration of relations with Moscow as he repeated Russian propaganda points, not least the lie that Ukraine started the war.

"We needed to unblock the aid from the US. For us, the exchange of intelligence is very important."

Witkoff falling for Moscow's 'narratives'

That did not stop Zelensky rebuking comments made by Steve Witkoff, Trump's super envoy, a real estate billionaire turned diplomat who deals with the Middle East as well as the Russian-Ukraine war.

In an interview last week with Tucker Carlson, a right-wing podcaster in the United States, Witkoff disparaged the drive by the UK's Starmer and France's Macron to create the "coalition of the willing" to support Ukraine.

The American said it was a posture and pose, "a simplistic desire" to sound like Winston Churchill. His words fit squarely into what seems now to be a settled view in the Trump Administration that their erstwhile allies in Europe are a parasitical burden on the United States.

What if Witkoff was right? Strip away the insults and recognise that Europe's richest nations have chosen, for decades, to spend most of their considerable wealth on matters they consider more pressing than their militaries.

Zelensky said Witkoff and others in the Trump administration, had fallen for Russian propaganda.

"I think that Witkoff often quotes the Kremlin narratives… I can't be ungrateful to the Americans for everything they did,but they are often, unfortunately, under the influence of Russian narratives. And we cannot agree with these narratives."

Zelensky suggested that Witkoff was better at his old job, developing real estate in Manhattan.

"He doesn't look like a military man. He doesn't look like a general, and he doesn't have such experience. As far as I know, he is very good at selling and buying real estate. And this is a little different."

In it for 'long haul'

President Zelensky, for a man who has lived with immense pressure since Russia's full scale invasion more than three years ago,was remarkably buoyant, clearly pleasedby the reception he had in Paris and the efforts that President Macron and Prime Minister Starmer are making to rally European support and to persuade, even cajole, Trump not to cut intelligence and military support to Ukraine.

Zelensky seemed happy with his new strategy of agreeing to temporary ceasefires to force Putin to show his reluctance to pause the war.

I asked Zelensky how he was dealing with the pressure. His goal, he said, was for his children to be able "to walk down the street and not have to hide." And how did he think he'd be remembered; as the man who saved Ukraine, or tried to and failed?Zelensky grimaced slightly. Better, he said, than Putin, who was getting old and feared his own people.

"He will die soon. It is a fact. His reign could end before he finishes his historically insignificant and unsuccessful life. This is what he fears."(Assassination plans)

Zelensky laughed.

"And I will do everything I can to defend Ukraine as much as I can. And I am definitely younger than Putin."

Trump might be hoping for a deal by Easter. Zelensky is still looking to the long haul.

I can say this proudly, I hate Zelensky and the propagandists in the UK.
