Otley Road incident: Everything we know so far as two women injured, man arrested and crossbow and firearm found

A crossbow and a firearm were recovered after an incident that left two women seriously injured in Leeds on Saturday.

West Yorkshire Police were called Otley Road at 2.47pm on Saturday following reports of a man seen with weapons.

Officers found three people with injuries that are not being treated as life-threatening, the force said.

CTP North East reported on Saturday night that two women were taken to hospital.

The third, a 38-year-old man, was arrested and taken to hospital with a self-inflicted injury, it added.

Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) North East said it took over the probe “due to the circumstances surrounding the incident”.

Head of CTP North East, Detective Chief Superintendent James Dunkerley, said: “Although our enquiries are still at a very early stage, the circumstances surrounding this incident have resulted in Counter Terrorism Policing taking the lead for this investigation.

“From the enquiries undertaken so far, there is no evidence to suggest anyone else was involved in the attack, and, at this time, we are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.”

The counter-terror force added: “Extensive enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances and explore any potential motivation.

“We are keeping an open mind as we are gathering as much information as possible to find out exactly what happened.”

'Mass casualty incident' as car driven into Vancouver street festival

Police are investigating a "mass casualty incident" in which "several people were killed" after a car was driven into a crowd in Vancouver.

Authorities in the Canadian city said "multiple others" were injured during the incident, which occurred at approximately 20:14 local time on Saturday (03:14 GMT on Sunday) at a street festival.

Police said a 30-year-old male suspect was in custody and that they were "confident that this incident was not an act of terrorism". It is unclear how many people have been killed.

Police said the suspect had driven into pedestrians at the annual Lapu Lapu festival, which celebrates Filipino culture, at East 43rd Avenue and Fraser, in the south of Vancouver.

Steve Rai, Vancouver Police's interim chief, told a news conference that there had been one vehicle and one suspect involved in the incident. He said more details would be released in the morning.

The owner of a food truck selling bao buns at the festival, Yoseb Vardeh, told the BBC World Service that the attack happened right in front of his van.

"This guy, he killed some of my customers," he said. "There was people waiting for their buns that got hit."

Mr Vardeh added: "I stepped outside of my food truck and I just saw bodies underneath people's food trucks, husbands crying out for their wives or their kids… It was just horrible."

Unverified footage posted on social media showed a number of police cars, ambulances and fire engines at the scene, with injured people lying on the ground.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said in a statement on X that he was "devastated to hear about the horrific events at the Lapu Lapu festival in Vancouver".

He continued: "I offer my deepest condolences to the loved ones of those killed and injured, to the Filipino Canadian community, and to everyone in Vancouver. We are all mourning with you."

Thousands take part in anti-immigration protest in Dublin

Protestors carried Tricolour flags, wore ‘Make Ireland Great Again’ caps and shouted ‘get them out’

Thousands of people took part in an anti-immigration rally in Dublin city centre on Saturday, alongside a smaller counter-demonstration.

Both passed off without any major incidents with gardaí acting as a cordon between both groups on O’Connell Street.

The anti-immigration protest, described by organisers as an Easter Rising commemoration to pay respect to “those who fought and gave their lives to preserve the Irish nation and create the Irish Republic” began at 2pm at the Garden of Remembrance on Parnell Square.

United Against Racism, supported by a number of organisations and members of Opposition parties including Sinn Féin, Labour, People Before Profit, the Social Democrats, the Socialist Party and the Green Party, hosted a counter-protest at the nearby GPO at 1.30pm.

“Operation Tidal Wave,” Leads to Approximately 800 Arrests of Illegals Including Gang Members, Killers, Terrorists in Florida

President Trump has kept his promise to crack down on illegal aliens in the US and is working hard to deport as many as possible. He has been battling lawfare from activist judges trying to stop his efforts. Even with those hurdles, ICE is working hard to make our country safer.

Bill Melugin of Fox News reported on “Operation Tidal Wave,” which is a joint effort of ICE and local law enforcement agencies in the State of Florida working together to arrest illegal aliens this week. Within the first four days, approximately 800 illegals have been arrested. Many of them are gang members, killers and terrorists.

Included in the list was an illegal alien from Colombia who was convicted of homicide in his home country. Jose Sanchez Reyes entered the US illegally and was considered a “gotaway.”

Another man, Rafael Juarez Cabrera, an illegal alien and MS-13 gang member from Guatemala, was arrested. He had entered the US illegally three times and was charged with felony re-entry.
