Update:

Headed back to DC today after attending an international counter-terrorism conference.

-Bottom line up front - the threats are growing and metastasizing. The FBI has a number of critical missions, but our top priority is mitigating this deadly scourge, and making sure there’s nowhere to hide if you choose this path. We will use every tool to hunt you down.

-The Director and I are passionate about defending the vulnerable. Operation “Restoring Justice” began this week and the FBI put handcuffs on child sex offenders and 764 subjects in nearly every corner of the country. Your keyboards and your false online personas will NOT protect you if you target our children. We will hunt you down. We will find you.

-We need your help with the persistent cyber threat. I know it’s said over and over but please make sure your technology personnel are keeping critical IT security systems updated. The threat is real, and the damage can be existential for companies without the legal and financial infrastructure to fight back.

-Accountability and reforms are ongoing. In the few months the Director and I have been here, we’ve been busy looking at process, penalties, finances, organizational issues, personnel and more. The process must be done correctly, and efficiently. We are committed to it. Keep watching the results, because I’m not asking you to trust me. Trust is nice, but results are the only end-game.
