Victor Davis Hanson: President Trump’s Threefold Opposition

Pollsters, the media, and the institutionalized Left. What do they all have in common?

President Trump’s first 100 days weren’t as chaotic as they advertised. Now, they fear that the American people will see right through their deception, argues Victor Davis Hanson on today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words:”

“They polled over 2,000 people, but only 840 were identified as Trump voters. Shouldn't that have been half? So, what am I getting at? We're getting right back to what happened in 2016 when the polls were completely wrong. The same thing happened in 2020 when they overestimated Biden's strength by four or five points. And then, even in 2024, the NPR poll had—on the last day of the election—they had Kamala Harris winning by four points."

Victor Davis Hanson: Democrats’ Radical Changing of the Guard

He’s really spot on with this analysis

The Democrat Party is undergoing a dramatic transformation before our eyes. With the 2024 election losses still fresh, the old leadership—Biden, Pelosi, Schumer, and Durbin—is facing a powerful insurgency from a radical new Left. From AOC and the Squad to activist figures like David Hogg, a new generation is rising—and the establishment is terrified. Victor Davis Hanson explores what this youth-driven movement means for the future of American politics on today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.”

“ We're watching a metamorphosis of the Democratic Party that is out of power. The old guard: Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Chuck Schumer, Dick Durbin—that old guard did not deliver the 2024 election.

“ The Republicans are not afraid. They're not afraid of the squad and the Jacobins and this new cohort, the David Hoggs of the world. But you know who's terrified of them? Dick Durbin, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer, because they don't know how to handle them.”

Tucker Carlson

@TuckerCarlson

Russell Brand was once a famous leftwing actor, celebrated by the British establishment. Then he criticized the government for using Covid to turn the UK into a totalitarian state. The accolades abruptly stopped. A government TV station accused Brand of committing sex crimes against anonymous women they refused to name. Government officials called for his opinions to be scrubbed from the internet. Last month, British prosecutors charged Brand with rape and sexual assault. None of the charges are backed by hard evidence. All of them supposedly took place more than 20 years ago, one of them in the 1990s. The entire case is transparently political and absurd, a near-identical replay of the fake rape charges authorities brought against Julian Assange 15 years ago. Russell Brand, whose youngest child is barely a year old, now faces life in prison. He has no shot at a fair trial, because Britain is no longer a free country. Over the last few years, millions of foreigners have applied for asylum in the United States. Russell Brand actually deserves it. Say a prayer that the Trump administration comes to his rescue.

🚨🚨🚨BREAKING: Federal district court enters first merits ruling on Alien Enemies Act habeas case. On question of class certification: Court punts on whether class cert. under Rule 23 is available & considers if All Writs Act provides analog, i.e. another way to do a class. 1/

3/ Note: This remains limited to the jurisdiction of the d.ct. though,so ACLU still seems to need to file "class actions" in all 94 districts…well it would need to if SCOTUS hadn't entered a stay in a non-case with non-plaintiffs already!

4/ Here's "class". Image

5/ Here is merit's opinion on habeas: Comments to follow. Big picture: This will expedite resolution of these issues as final decision on merits will get to Fifth Circuit & then SCOTUS. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…

20/ Here is full opinion. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…

21/ Closing thoughts: Judge wrote measured opinion that IMNSHO is correct on many fronts, but fails to fully consider Trump's stated justification for it being an "incursion"–it is. BUT judge also gave Trump blueprint for what to say to satisfy AEA, given court can't 2nd guess.

22/22 Finally, while I thought this would quickly expedite resolution of AEA cases through appellate process, I doubt that now b/c Trump can revise Proclamation to ensure AEA applies & then all other issues still exist, such as if "government" & if Defendants are tDa members.

L3 Harris tapped to modify Qatari jet as potential new Air Force One after years of Boeing delays

MAY 1 202511:30 AM Leslie Josephs

KEY POINTS

• L3Harris Technologies is set to work on modifications to a used Qatari Boeing 747 that could become a new Air Force One aircraft.

• Boeing’s modifications on a pair of 747 jumbo jets to become the new Air Force One aircraft are years behind schedule and more than $2 billion over budget.

• Trump looked at the Qatari plane this past winter when it was parked in Florida. The U.S. is working with L3Harris Technologies.

The U.S. is working with L3Harris Technologiesto modify a used Qatari government jumbo jet in what could become a new presidential plane, according to a person familiar with the matter who wasn’t authorized to speak to the media.

The work comes after President Donald Trumpearlier this year expressed frustration about delays in modification work from Boeing. Trump struck a deal with Boeing in his first term to retrofit two 747s to serve as the next Air Force One aircraft. But after delays, the planes might not be ready before the end of his term.

L3Harris and Boeing declined to comment. The White House didn’t immediately comment.

Trump told reporters in February that he is considering alternatives for the delayed Boeing 747s,which have cost Boeing more than $2 billion in overruns.

“We may buy a plane or get a plane, or something,” he said, according to a Reuters report at the time, as he toured the Qatari 747 that was parked at Florida’s Palm Beach International Airport.

Boeing’s CEO, Kelly Ortberg, said on an April 23 earnings call that “we continue to work with the customer to revise the program plan to allow for an earlier first delivery while maintaining our focus on safety and quality.”

Ortberg said in January that the company had been working with Trump advisor Elon Muskto deliver the planes sooner.

Despite Trump’s frustration with Boeing’s delays in delivering the new Air Force One planes, the U.S. Air Force in March awarded Boeing a contract to build the country’s next-generation fighter jet, a deal analysts estimate to be worth around $20 billion or more.

“In terms of all of the attributes of a fighter jet, there’s never been anything even close to it, from speed to maneuverability, to what it can have, to payload. And this has been in the works for a long period of time,” Trump said in a news release on March 21. “America’s enemies will never see it coming.”

Harvard Sends International Students’ Info to DHS, Does Not Specify What Records Were Shared

Updated April 30, 2025, at 9:34 p.m.

Harvard shared information with the Department of Homeland Security in response to its request for information on international students’ disciplinary records and illegal activity, the University announced in a Wednesday evening email to affiliates.

It was not immediately clear whether Harvard provided all the requested records. University Executive Vice President Meredith L. Weenick ’90 wrote thatHarvard had responded to the DHS’ request “to provide information required by law,” but a University spokesperson declined to specify what records had been shared.

The announcement comes almost two weeks after Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem sent Harvard a letterthreatening to revoke its authorization to host international students under the Student and Exchange Visitor Programunless it shared international students’ data, including records related to protest participation.

The DHS gave Harvard until Wednesday to respond to the demands.

“We take seriously the data retention and reporting obligations that enable participation in the SEVP,” Weenick wrote.

She wrote that Harvard “reiterated our steadfast commitment to sponsor the visas that facilitate our international students’ study” in its message to the DHS and “made clear” that it does not intend to withdraw from SEVP.

“Our participation in SEVP is unchanged at this time, and any withdrawal by DHS of Harvard’s certification would be involuntary,” Weenick wrote.

The April 16 requests from the DHS included information regarding each visa holder’s “known deprivation of rights of other classmates” and “obstruction of the school’s learning environment,” along with any disciplinary actions “taken as a result of making threats to other students or populations or participating in protests.”

Under Title 8 of the Code of Federal Regulations, the law Noem cited in the letter, universities must provide the DHS with information on international students’ degree program, course enrollment, grades, and academic status — including withdrawal, probation, suspension, or expulsion — upon request.

Universities are also required to report within 21 days any disciplinary action that they take against students because of criminal convictions.

If Harvard loses its SEVP status, current international students on University-sponsored visas will have to choose between transferring to a different institution, changing their immigration status, or leaving the country, according to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement website.

Weenick wrote in her email on Wednesday that Harvard is still currently enrolled in SEVP, and that “any withdrawal by DHS of Harvard’s certification would be involuntary.”

“For our students and scholars from abroad, we encourage you to continue to stay as focused as possible on your academic pursuits,” she wrote.

In the weeks since Harvard received Noem’s letter, hundreds of affiliates — including international undergraduates and the Harvard Undergraduate Association student body co-presidents — had urged the University not to comply with the demands laid out in the letter.

Several legal experts previously told The Crimson that Harvard should consider suing the DHS over its demands. Harvard has already filed a lawsuit against nine federal agencies over $2.2 billion in federal funding cuts to the University, but did not list the DHS as a defendant.

BIDEN AUTOPEN BOMBSHELL: Oversight Project Releases New Alarming Analysis of Biden Executive Order Signatures

by Cristina Laila May. 1, 20251/2

Second Biden autopen discovered / Oversight Project

The Biden Autopen scandal is growing by the day.

The Oversight Project gathered every document they could find with Biden’s signature – ALL used autopen signatures except for the announcement that he was dropping out of the 2024 election.

New analysis of Executive Order signatures showed an “increased use of the autopen as President Biden’s mental and physical decline accelerated,” the Oversight Project revealed on Thursday.

Joe Biden used a wet signature on every Executive Order during the first yearand a half of his presidency.

However, inlate spring and early summer 2022, everything changed, and Biden’s autopen appeared on every clemency warrant and executive order.

The Oversight Project’s analysis of executive order signatures shows Biden’s first year in office compared to 2022 -2025: chart

Politically Charged Executive Orders and the Autopen

Our investigation highlightsseveral Executive Orders that are particularly concerningdue to their political weight. These orders, all signed with the autopen, address sensitive issues such as national security, public health, and military justice. Below are key examples:

Executive Order 14097: Combating International Drug Trafficking (April 27, 2023)

This order authorized the activation of the Ready Reserve of the Armed Forces to address international drug trafficking, expanding emergency powers to combat a national security threat.

Executive Order 14098: Sanctions on Sudan (May 4, 2023)

This order imposed sanctions on individuals destabilizing Sudan, addressing threats to U.S. national security and foreign policy.

Executive Order 14114: Countering Russian Aggression (December 22, 2023)

This order expanded sanctions targeting Russia’s military-industrial base and financial institutions, amending prior orders to counter Russian aggression.

Executive Order 14118: Terminating the Zimbabwe Emergency (March 4, 2024)

This order revoked a national emergency regarding Zimbabwe, acknowledging ongoing concerns about violence and corruption while lifting sanctions.

Executive Order 14122: Public Health Preparedness (April 12, 2024)

Focused on COVID-19 and public health, this order transferred responsibilities to the Office of Pandemic Preparedness and Response Policy (OPPR) and revoked COVID-19-related orders.

Executive Order 14130: Amending the Manual for Courts-Martial (December 20, 2024)

This order updated the Manual for Courts-Martial to align with legislative changes, including randomized selection of court-martial members.

Previous analysis by theOversight Project reveals out of 51 clemency warrants issued by Biden: 16 were signed with Autopen A, 16 were signed with Autopen B and 19 appear to be wet signatures.

2/2

Per the Oversight Project:

The Trump White House issued 51 clemency warrants in 4 years. 4,245 people received clemency during the Biden Administration.

This includes 37 of the most brutal murderers on federal death row, a person who murdered two FBI agents, people who provided military support to Iran, Dr. Fauci, General Milley, the J6 Committee, members of the Biden family, and hundreds of drug dealers.Every warrant in this group was signed with an autopen.

Here are the stats on the 51 warrants:

16 were signed with Autopen A

16 were signed with Autopen B

19 appear wet signed.

Note the subtle differences between Autopen A and B.Autopen A has a bigger space between the “p” and “h” in “Joseph” than Autopen B. There are also subtle differences in the “B” in “Biden” and how the word “Jr.” is written.

Who was in charge of Joe Biden’s autopen?

According to The New York Post’s Steve Nelson, akey Biden aide may have exceeded their authorityby unilaterally determining what documents to robo-sign.

An insider told The New York Post that he feared this key Biden aide: “I feared no one as much as I feared that [staffer]. To me, [the staffer] basically was the president,” the person said. “No one ever questioned [the staffer]. Period.”

Is Neera Tanden the ‘key aide’ behind Biden’s autopenned pardons? Tanden went to work as a key Biden White House stafferafter she was forced to withdrawher nomination as OMB Director.

The Oversight Project pointed out thatNeera Tandenwas the White House Staff Secretarywhen Joe Biden autopenned pardons from a golf course in the US Virgin Islands.

President Trump on Sunday called for the person or persons who operated Joe Biden’s autopen to be jailed

Miller Time? MAGA Favorite Reportedly Emerges as Top Candidate to Become Trump’s Next National Security Advisor for Two Critical Reasons

by Cullen Linebarger May. 2, 2025 11

There is a name reportedly at the top of the list to be President Trump’s next national security advisor for two major reasons, and the left will absolutely go nuts if it happens.

Axios reported on Friday that President Trump’s top policy adviser, Stephen Miller, has garnered significant traction to succeed Mike Waltz, who was picked to be America’s next United Nations Ambassador. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is currently serving as the interimnational security adviser.

Miller, the deputy chief of staff, has played a critical role in stopping the illegal alien invasion orchestrated by the Biden regime and helping carry out mass deportations. He is, without question, one of the administration’s biggest stars and a MAGA favorite.

But why take him away from immigration policy and move him into national security? Axios reports Miller has emerged as America’s next National Security Advisor for two reasons: President Trump trusts him, and he has done a phenomenal job running the National Security Council.

As TGP readers know, there are few things Trump values more than loyalty and competence, two qualities Miller has in spades.

From Axios:

Miller — the deputy chief of staff and the brain behind Trump’s controversial immigration crackdown — is one of the president’s longest-serving and most-trusted aides.

One White House source told Axios via text that Miller has made the Homeland Security Council run “like clockwork,” and that it’s “infinitely more effective than the NSC [National Security Council] with a tiny fraction” of the staff.

Should Miller accept the job, he would hold multiple job titles simultaneously, just like Rubio. But one source told Axios this would not be a problem.

“Marco and Stephen have worked really closely on immigration, and it might be a perfect match,” said a White House source, who explained to Axios.

“Given how well he’s worked with Marco, many see him as the perfect person to restore the role of the NSA to a staff-level policy role that reports to the chief of staff, instead of some inflated Cabinet position,” said another source.

That said, it is unclear whether Miller wants the NSA job. One person told Axios that Miller does appear interested in the position, though Miller refused to confirm.

However, another source told the outlet that Miller’s taking the position would remove his ability to impact immigration policy.

Mel Gibson’s Gun Freedom Restored After 15 Years with Help from Pam Bondi’s Office

Joe Saunders, Western Journal May. 2, 2025 12:20

One of Hollywood’s biggest voices on the right is getting his gun rights back.

Mel Gibson, the actor and director as well known for his politics as his entertainment, was one of 10 individuals named in a Department of Justice notice in the Federal Register on Tuesday whose “firearms privileges” were being restored.

And he has Attorney General Pam Bondi to thank for it.

Gibson, 69, solidified his stardom in the 1980s and ’90s with the “Mad Max” and “Lethal Weapon” movie franchises. And his 1995 production “Braveheart,” which Gibson starred in, directed, and produced, is one of the best known films of the decade.

The 21st century saw Gibson reaching new heights with 2004’s “The Passion of the Christ.” But it also saw new lows, including a 2006 DUI arrest where he spouted anti-Semitic comments to the arresting officer and a 2011 conviction for misdemeanor battery over a fight with his then-partner and mother of his daughter, according to Business Insider.

Gibson pleaded “no contest” to the charge, The New York Times reported at the time, and received 36 months probation. The conviction also meant Gibson lost his rights to possessing a firearm, the Times noted in a March report.

The conviction was vacated in 2014 after Gibson completed probation, the Associated Press reported at the time.

Gibson quit drinking after the 2010 incident and in 2020 celebrated 10 years of sobriety, People magazine reported at the time.

Gibson’s legal situation was back in the news because aJustice Department pardon attorney, Elizabeth G. Oyer, was fired after she declined to add Gibsonto a list of Americans whose gun rights should be restored, according to the Times.

Oyer has challenged her firing. At an April 7 congressional hearing, according to USA Today, she testified, “I had been asked to recommend restoring the firearm rights of a famous friend of the president who had lost his right to own a gun due to a domestic violence conviction.”

“I declined to do so based on concerns about public safety.”

That “famous friend of the president” was Gibson, USA Today reported. And Bondi clearly disagreed with Oyer.

The Federal Register notice contains no explanation about Gibson specifically, but noted that under federal law, the U.S. attorney general has the power to restore gun rights “if it is established to [the Attorney General’s] … satisfaction that the circumstances regarding the disability, and the applicant’s record and reputation, are such that the applicant will not be likely to act in a manner dangerous to public safety and that the granting of the relief would not be contrary to the public interest.”

Included in those 10 names with Gibson, as the New York Post noted, was former New York Jet and NFL Hall of Famer Joseph Klecko. Kleck lost his gun rights after a 1993 conviction for lying to a federal grand jury in an insurance fraud case.

Gibson’s vocal conservativism and unabashed Catholic beliefs have made him deeply unpopular with the Hollywood establishment, but his reformation after a troubled past has helped other celebrities, like Robert Downy Jr., deal with addiction.

Gibson is also something of a hero to conservatives.

In January, Trump named Gibson and fellow conservative actors Jon Voight and Sylvester Stallone as “ambassadors to Hollywood.”
