There are already whole aircraft parachute systems using parachutes to recover planes safely in an emergency.
I can see no reason why it could not be scaled up to fit airliners but there would be a financial impact.
The cost of fitting the system and the weight penalty of the system reducing the payload of the plane would not be economically acceptable for airlines and commercial operators.
