Sec. of Defense Pete Hegseth Orders Pentagon Purge — Demands 20% Cut in Woke Four-Star Generals and Admirals Across U.S. Military

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has ordered a sweeping purge of senior Pentagon leadership, demanding a 20% reduction in four-star generals and admirals across all branches, according to a memo obtained by CNN.

Hegseth’s memo frames the cuts as “critical” for “removing redundant force structure to optimize and streamline leadership.”

As of February 2025, the U.S. military has 38 active-duty four-star officers across its branches: 11 in the Army, 3 in the Marine Corps, 8 in the Navy, 12 in the Air Force, 3 in the Space Force, and 1 in the Coast Guard.

Signed on Monday, the directive also mandates a 20% cut in National Guard general officers and a 10% reduction in all general and flag officers—approximately 900 one-star and above positions military-wide.

This dramatic shift comes amid what Hegseth and President Trump are calling a “recruiting renaissance,” reversing the historically low enlistment numbers under Joe Biden. In his first month as Defense Secretary, all service branches exceeded their recruitment goals, with the Army surpassing its target by 15%.

“Since your election and the inauguration, what we’ve seen is nothing short of a miracle,” Hegseth told Trump during a recent cabinet meeting. “Men and women across the nation are proud again to serve under a Commander-in-Chief who honors strength, not weakness.”

Indeed, recruitment has surged so rapidly that Defense Department analysts are calling it the strongest interest in military service in over a decade—long before the divisive DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) agenda hollowed out morale and operational standards under the Biden administration.

“We’re rebuilding the military, Sir,” Hegseth said, referencing the resurrection of America’s military dominance. “The Golden Dome is well underway. The F-47 program is revitalized. And we’re reinvesting nearly $6 billion in DOGE-identified savings, including clawing back $50 billion wasted under Biden’s climate-first nonsense.”

In the wake of Trump’s return to office, Hegseth has already orchestrated a historic leadership purge, firing both the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Navy Chief in February.

He also initiated plans to replace the top military legal officers, the Judge Advocates General, across the Army, Navy, and Air Force—citing their complicity in political prosecutions and woke legal doctrine.

According to CNN, Hegseth has long warned that the Pentagon had become “a playground for left-wing ideologues,” noting that up to a third of current senior leadership is “actively complicit” in politicizing the armed forces.

“These officers are climbing the ladder by checking all the wrong boxes — pushing social justice, climate hysteria, and gender theory instead of war-fighting capability,” he said in a podcast last year.

Russian air defenses respond to drone raid on Moscow – mayor

At least 19 hostile UAVs were downed en route to the Russian capital, according to Sergey Sobyanin

Moscow has repelled a multi-wave Ukrainian drone attack, Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported in a series of Telegram posts early Tuesday morning.

The first five drones were intercepted by 1:16am, Sobyanin said. Another was downed about 30 minutes later, followed by three more shortly before 2am, all en route to the capital.

“According to preliminary information, there are no serious injuries or casualties,” the mayor stated, adding that emergency services are working at the crash sites and “all necessary measures are being taken.”

At 2:17am, Sobyanin reported that the air defense “destroyed ten more drones flying to Moscow from different directions,” raising the total to at least 19 intercepted UAVs.

Moscow’s Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky international airports temporarily suspended operations in response to the attack.

This week, Russia will be celebrating the 80th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany in the Second World War. President Vladimir Putin had ordered a three-day unilateral ceasefire to coincide with the commemorations, but Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky refused to reciprocate, saying Kiev would accept nothing short of an unconditional 30-day truce.

Zelensky and other Ukrainian officials have issued veiled threats to target the military parade being held in Moscow on May 9, which will be attended by foreign dignitaries. Russia has denounced the rhetoric as evidence of Ukraine using terrorist tactics.

Heads Explode as Tom Fitton Explains on War Room How President Trump as Chief Executive Magistrate Can Run Special Counsel Targeting Deep State Criminals from White House

Tom Fitton: The President was referred to as the Chief Executive Magistrate. So there’s no doubt under the Constitution, the powers of the President require the laws be faithfully executed. Constitution and custom and tradition. Well, yes, on top of that. Well, the custom and tradition flows from the obvious nature of his job as chief executive. Yes. And so what does that mean in the modern era? Well, in theory, it means President Trump could run the trial in any prosecution. He’d be in there playing prosecutor if he so chose.

Steve Bannon: …Give me that again, sir.

Tom Fitton: The President could conduct the prosecution, quite literally conduct the prosecution. Now, there may be some rules related to the court rules about lawyers being involved in such. But the point is, he can run the prosecution, request an investigation, demand a report back. This is what I think he should do. We talked about this before. He should set up a special prosecutor separate in part from the FBI and the Justice Department… They’re overwhelmed and conflicted. Institutionally, they’re conflicted. Yes. The FBI guys aren’t going to take out the FBI. There aren’t enough DOJ, good people in DOJ to do an investigation.

Steve Bannon: Hold on. He appoints a special prosecutor, and that special prosecutor does not report to the attorney general, reports to him?

Tom Fitton: That’s right. An independent unit, an independent prosecutorial unit, investigative unit. He can have it staffed with individuals from other law enforcement agencies in the federal government or contract with private experts and private entities to do investigations and any criminal investigation or ultimately prosecution. And he can sign off. He can be as detail-oriented as he wants in terms of signing off on depositions, subpoenas, leads, what is pursued, what isn’t…

…Well, no one’s suggesting a corrupt abuse of the office here. We’re suggesting a vigorous exercise of his constitutional responsibilities, duties, and powers to ensure that the rule of law is vindicated. And does it mean targeting someone specifically just because you don’t like them? You still have the rule of law. You still have judges, you still have the constitutional protections. All the evidence, due process. And defendants get all the rights and witnesses or targets. No one’s suggesting all that be thrown out.

But I’m suggesting is that the Justice Department, the FBI are hopelessly conflicted. Really, I don’t even trust they’re competent enough to get it done despite the new leadership. It’s no smear on the leadership. We just know they’re crackpots…

…This is a grassroots concern learn about the lack of justice and accountability. Frankly, our friends in the DOJ and FBI are giving us the equivalent of Q drops every week. Trust us. There’s a plan. We’re going to roll them all up. There’s a plan… There is no plan! There may be a prosecution or two. There have been significant firings which are necessary, but woefully insufficient. And the President should tell Kash, treat FBI like USAID. In the meantime, treat FBI like USAID.

You (Steve Bannon) went to jail for contempt of Congress. Pete Navarro went to jail for contempt of Congress. Garland wasn’t prosecuted by the Justice Department. Why? You know, he hid these, the video. He hid the audio of the Biden interview because they covered up his mental incapacities by keeping that video, that audio quiet. He refused and went into contempt of Congress rather than turning over. Why isn’t the Bondi Justice Department prosecuted him? I mean, it’s right there. There’s a package right there from the prior administration that can reevaluate and review and decide whether to prosecute or not. And as I was saying at the beginning of the show, it’s now time, I would suggest respectfully to the President, that if he wants this done, he should just do it. Order it, get it done!

USDA Secretary Details Astounding Spending On Nutrition Programs, Warns Chronic Diseases Will 'Bankrupt' America

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins has issued a dire warning about the United States’ chronic disease crisis, declaring that poor nutrition is fueling a healthcare cost surge that threatens to bankrupt the nation.

During a recent Cabinet meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. outlined plans to reform the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) with Rollins, targeting sugary drinks and junk food that the USDA chief argues drive an unprecedented obesity epidemic.

“We have 13 nutrition programs. Listen to this number. This is going to astound you. In America today, through USDA—this is not all the other agencies, this is just here at USDA—we spend $370 million a day on nutrition programs,” Rollins told All-In podcast host David Friedberg in an interview released Sunday. “So, not just SNAP, but food banks and all of the other ones. That’s just USDA. That is a stunning number. We’ve got to do better.”
