I’ve heard of patients who stopped being gay and gender dysphoric after doing a detox from parasites, other pathogens and toxins. This post suggests it’s the parasites hijacking the brain. Since homosexuality is an evolutionary dead end there must be some other evolutionary pressure driving it: i.e. an intestinal parasite found in most gay men and barely any straight men. The parasite then tends to make them gay and hypersexual in order to spread itself among this cohort. Though nowadays it could presumably also make the small percentage of straight men who carry it hyper interested in anal sex with women. I wonder if we’ll ever get any research into this? If it were proven I suspect many people would be violently opposed to risking the loss of their sense of self by killing off their parasite even if it were shown to be otherwise harmful. It is clear that physical toxins and pathogens as well as lack of nutrients like vitamin D and B12 can alter our personalities. Just missing a meal can change the way you behave especially if you’re insulin resistant. It’s been well documented that common over the counter painkillers reduce empathy and there are many other drugs that can affect people’s personalities dramatically. But there is something deeper, the very heart of your being that lies beyond these superficialities. Scrape them away and you will find that your deepest self loves what is good, which is another way of saying that which is beneficial for human flourishing over the longest time horizon - both in this world and the next.

Here’s the crazy YouTube video that got taken down of the guy who stopped being gay after doing a gum spirits of turpentine parasite cleanse.
