Man skips his sentencing for brutal murder of mother-of-four Uber driver
A Pennsylvania man convicted in February of the murder of a mother of four will spend the rest of his days behind bars.
The sentencing of Calvin Crew, 26, was a formality inside a Pittsburgh courtroom on Monday as first-degree murder carries a mandatory life sentence in the state.
Crew did not attend his sentencing.
Christina Spicuzza was 38 years old when she was shot dead on Feb. 10, 2022 while making a living as an Uber driver.
According to dashcam footage obtained by police and released by the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, Spicuzza picked up Crew that evening after his girlfriend ordered a ride.
In the video, what appeared to be a routine ride turned into a kidnapping when Crew took out a gun and pointed it at Spicuzza’s head.
“Keep driving,” Crew told her.
Spicuzza asked why he was doing this. “I have four kids,” she said.
She then asked him to stop but Crew ordered her to continue driving.
“Do what I say and everything will be OK,” Crew said before he pulled down the camera.
Spicuzza was reported missing early the next day by her partner, Brandon Marto, after she didn’t return home.
Her body was found a day later as well as her vehicle.

Biden promises to stop deportations if he becomes President.
The laws didn't change. Democrats just decided they don't care about them. Unless it's Trump of course.

Congressman Jim McGovern’s 23 year old daughter died unexpectedly after becoming nauseous in Italy
Representative Jim McGovern, a veteran Democrat from Massachusetts, is mourning the death of his 23-year-old daughter, Molly, who passed away unexpectedly while visiting a friend in Assisi, Italy.
In a statement, McGovern said Molly had had been living with a rare form of cancer but emphasized that her death was unanticipated.
“Molly radiated pure joy. She lit up every room with her beaming smile — full of laughter, endless warmth, and a sharp wit that could disarm you in an instant,” McGovern began an emotional Instagram tribute.
He described Molly, who was finishing her bachelor’s degree in political science and international affairs at Northeastern University, as “unbelievably funny, fiercely loyal, and wise beyond her years.”
McGovern, serving his 15th term in Congress, said his daughter had a “rare gift.”
“She made everyone feel special, because she genuinely believed everyone was special,” McGovern wrote. "She treated people with compassion and kindness—always standing up for the underdog, and making fast friends wherever she went."
Diagnosed with cancer at 18 in 2019, she faced the disease with “relentless courage, optimism, and tenacity — refusing to let her illness slow her down,” McGovern said, noting that Molly had recently finished a semester studying abroad in Australia.
In his post, Mr. McGovern shared photos of Molly over the years with him, his wife, Lisa — her mother — and her older brother, Patrick. The pictures depict an affectionate family that cherished being together. Patrick told The Boston Globe that he and Molly were best friends and spoke every day by phone or FaceTime. They would watch movies together, even from different cities, syncing up with a “3, 2, 1” countdown before pressing play.
"Molly will always be the soul of our family," he wrote. "We are so proud of her, and so glad that so many people were touched by her incredible life. We love you, Molly. We miss you already."
At Molly’s funeral on May 3, her mother, Lisa, delivered a moving eulogy.
“She had a great 23 years, but who would have thought the last five years would be the best,” she said, according to The Boston Globe. “There were little miracles everywhere.”
Lisa recalled how the family “loved to be together” and “were cozy like puppies.”
“I never took that for granted, and I never stopped being surprised by it,” she added. “What a gift that is.”
