#OTD in 1945, USS Bunker Hill (CV-17) was struck by two kamikaze within 30 seconds during the Battle of Okinawa. The resulting explosions and fires killed 393 sailors and wounded another 264. The heavily damaged carrier managed to return to the U.S. for repairs.
