Saudi Supercomputers

Saudi Arabia is home to several powerful supercomputers, including Shaheen III, which is the most powerful supercomputer in the Middle East and ranked 20th globally for supercomputer efficiency as of November 2023.

Shaheen III, located at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), is six times faster than its predecessor, Shaheen II, and boasts processing power exceeding that of 500,000 of the latest MacBook Pros.

It plays a crucial role in supporting sustainability campaigns related to the National Center for Climate Change and national projects aligned with the Kingdomโ€™s Vision 2030.

Other notable supercomputers in Saudi Arabia include:

Dammam-7: Developed by Saudi Aramco and stc, this supercomputer is among the top ten most powerful in the world, with 55.4 petaflops of peak computing power. It is used for sophisticated imaging and deep-learning algorithms to improve the ability to discover and recover oil and gas.
