BLS Data Revised: Payrolls Declined Under Biden
Recent revisions to U.S. employment data have revealed significant downward adjustments in reported job growth under the Biden administration. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) initially estimated strong employment gains, but updated figures suggest that many of these numbers were overstated.
The BLS regularly revises its monthly job reports using more comprehensive quarterly data. The latest adjustments indicate that job growth was nearly 30% lower than previously reported, with nonfarm payrolls revised down by 818,000 positions. The largest downward revisions occurred in professional and business services, leisure and hospitality, and manufacturing, while some sectors, such as private education and health services, saw slight increases.
