NQIA directs the President to implement a National Quantum Initiative Program to, among other things, establish the goals and priorities for a 10-year plan to accelerate the development of quantum information science and technology applications.
Quantum information science is the use of the laws of quantum physics for the storage, transmission, manipulation, or measurement of information.
The National Quantum Initiative Act (NQIA), enacted in 2018 and reauthorized in 2024, is a landmark U.S. law aimed at accelerating quantum technology development.

NATIONAL QUANTUM INITIATIVE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (NQIAC)

The National Quantum Initiative Advisory Committee (NQIAC) is the Federal Advisory Committee called for in the National Quantum Initiative Act.
The NQIAC is tasked to provide an independent assessment of the NQI Program and to make recommendations for the President, Congress, and the NSTC Subcommittee on QIS to consider when reviewing and revising the NQI Program.
The NQIAC consists of leaders in the field from industry, academia, and the Federal laboratories.

Former Rutgers professor charged with child pornography

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — A former lecturer at Rutgers is accused of having more than 1,000 images and videos of child pornography at his home in Franklin Township, U.S. Attorney Alina Habba announced here on Wednesday

The man is Elliott Souder, 51, and he was charged April 30 with receipt and possession of child pornography. He appeared in Trenton federal court last Tuesday.

Souder was formerly employed as a creative writing professor at Rutgers New Brunswick, in the English department. He no longer works for Rutgers, said the university.

When police executed a search warrant at Souder's home in 2022, they said they found more than 1,000 images and videos of child pornography on his computer's hard drive. Some of the images and videos depicted prepubescent children, toddlers and infants and sadomasochism on children, according to federal prosecutors.
