The FDA Just Approved Another COVID Vaccine — But RFK Jr. Has Already Intervened
📢📢 Novavax BLA Approval 📢📢
Novavax has obtained their Biologics License Application for their COVID-19 vaccine, Nuvaxovid.
This means that they are now allowed to market their COVID vaccine without needing an Emergency Use Authorization any more.

Scientific advisers to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, who typically make decisions on who should get approved shots and when, have been debating whether to recommend Covid shots only to the most vulnerable Americans.
The F.D.A.’s decision appeared to render at least part of their discussion moot.
The vaccine had previously been authorized under emergency use. Covid vaccines developed by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, which are more widely used by Americans, were granted full approval in 2022. However, the companies are working on updated shots for the fall, and the new restrictions on the Novavax shot portend a more restrictive approach from the F.D.A.
The F.D.A.’s new restrictions also appeared to reflect the high degree of skepticism about vaccines from Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the health secretary, and the other leaders he has appointed at health agencies.

France pressured Telegram to silence Romanian conservatives – founder
Pavel Durov says he was “approached” about the matter ahead of Sunday’s presidential election
The French government sought to make Telegram block conservative voices in Romania ahead of the country’s presidential runoff, the messenger’s founder, Pavel Durov, claimed on Sunday, as Romanians head to the polls.
Durov did not actually name the country responsible for the request directly but posted an emoji of a baguette, a thinly veiled reference to France. Durov, who holds the citizenship of Russia, France, the UAE, and St. Kitts and Nevis, stated that he refused the request.
“Telegram will not restrict the freedoms of Romanian users or block their political channels,” he said in a post, adding that one “can’t ‘defend democracy’ by destroying democracy.”
You can’t ‘fight election interference’ by interfering with elections. You either have freedom of speech and fair elections – or you don’t.
The French Foreign Ministry promptly hit back by declaring Durov’s statement a “fake.” “The recent accusations against France are merely a diversionary maneuver from the real threats of interference targeting Romania,” it claimed in a lengthy statement on X. Romanian authorities have not commented on Durov’s statements.
The presidential runoff held on Sunday pits fierce EU critic George Simion against the mayor of Bucharest and centrist Nicusor Dan.
Simion, who opposes military aid to Kiev and has been barred from visiting Ukraine, decisively swept the first round, securing 40% of the vote on May 4. This triggered a collapse of the pro-Western coalition government in Bucharest. Dan is known as a staunchly pro-EU and pro-NATO candidate, who has called Romania’s support for Kiev vital for national security.
Simion has previously accused Paris of attempts to subvert the elections. “They are putting a lot of money and pressure – through their ambassador here, and through foreign institutions – in order to rob the Romanian people of their vote,” he told entrepreneur and blogger Mario Nawfal on Friday.
France has emerged as one of the fiercest and most hawkish supporters of Kiev over the past months as the US under President Donald Trump has moved toward supporting the peace process between Moscow and Kiev.
Last year, the French authorities charged Durov with facilitating the distribution of child sexual exploitation material and drug trafficking due to alleged moderation failures on Telegram. He was arrested at Paris-Le Bourget Airport in August before being released on €5 million ($5.46 million) bail. Durov, who has denied any wrongdoing, was eventually allowed to leave France in March.

Supreme Court Rules Police No Longer Immune In Escalated Deadly Force Encounters
A recent supreme court ruling has affirmed that police officers can no longer rely on ‘Moment-of-Threat’ doctrine to sidestep scrutiny for misconduct leading to use of deadly force.
In a unanimous decision, the U.S. Supreme Court has rejected a legal doctrine that helped shield police from accountability for recklessly escalating confrontations and then using deadly force.
The Supreme Court’s ruling in Barnes v. Felix makes clear that when determining whether an officer’s use of deadly force was reasonable under the Fourth Amendment, courts must examine the entire sequence of events—not just the split second in which an officer claims to perceive a threat before firing a weapon. The decision strikes down the so-called “moment-of-threat doctrine,” which allowed officers to escape scrutiny for their own prior misconduct and reckless provocation. Going forward, judges must weigh all relevant circumstances, including the severity of the alleged offense, the officer’s actions leading up to the use of force, and the actual threat posed by the individual. The Rutherford Institute filed an amicus brief urging the Court to overturn the moment-of-threat rule, arguing that it violated longstanding constitutional principles and fostered a culture of impunity among law enforcement.
“For too long, our justice system has enabled a kind of legalized lawlessness, where police are empowered to escalate encounters and then respond with deadly force, knowing the courts will look the other way,” said constitutional attorney John W. Whitehead, president of The Rutherford Institute and author of Battlefield America: The War on the American People. “This decision is a powerful counterbalance to the Trump Administration’s efforts to shield police from the consequences of unconstitutional behavior. While the executive branch attempts to entrench a culture of impunity, the Supreme Court has hopefully drawn a constitutional line in the sand—one that signals a long-overdue shift in how police can use deadly force.”
On April 28, 2016, a police officer in Harris County, Texas, stopped Ashtian Barnes based on a report of unpaid tolls linked to his license plate. When asked for proof of insurance, Barnes explained that the car had been rented a week earlier by his girlfriend and the paperwork might be in the trunk. Claiming to smell marijuana, the officer ordered Barnes to open the trunk and exit the vehicle. Barnes opened his door but also turned the ignition back on. At that point, the officer shouted at Barnes not to move, stepped onto the driver-side doorsill, and shoved his gun into Barnes’s head. The car started to move, and the officer fired two shots into the car, killing Barnes. The incident was captured on video. Although Barnes’s mother sued, lower courts dismissed the case—ruling that the moment of threat during the two seconds when the officer was standing on the moving vehicle justified deadly force, without considering the officer’s role in creating the danger.

Trump makes a deal with Qatar and Israel does this
Coalition backs bill to label Qatar ‘terror-supporting,’ amid hostage talks in Doha
Legislation would bar Gulf state from serving as mediator in talks between Israel and third parties — but allows government to make exceptions
The Ministerial Committee for Legislation on Sunday advanced a bill to designate Qatar a “terror-supporting state,” citing the controversial Gulf country’s support for Hamas, Hezbollah and other terror groups.
The bill was approved amid the ongoing, so-called “Qatargate” scandal, in which several of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s top aides are accused of having worked for Qatar to shift public opinion in Israel. It also comes as Israeli negotiators are in Doha, attempting to reach a hostage deal with the Hamas terror group, whose leadership has long been hosted there.
The legislation, brought by Likud MKs Moshe Saada and Dan Illouz, Otzma Yehudit MK Yitzhak Kroizer and Religious Zionism MK Michal Woldiger, has been considered several times over the last year.
The Ministerial Committee on Legislation, though not a formal part of the legislative process, is a way for the government to determine which bills it will back. The proposed legislation now awaits its preliminary reading in the Knesset.
If passed, it would establish a legal category of “terror-supporting states” for the first time, with its preamble explicitly naming Qatar as the world’s leading financier of terrorism.
Any nation given “terror-supporting” status would be subject to restrictions similar to those imposed on enemy states, including bans on donations, trade and diplomatic processes with Israel.
The proposed law would also prevent Israel from allowing a “terror-supporting state” to be involved in any negotiations between Israel and a third party. However, this would not necessarily prevent Qatar from mediating on the issue of the Gaza hostages, since a subsection of the bill determines that “the Ministerial Committee for National Security Affairs may determine that a specific terror-supporting state shall be exempt from this restriction.”

US embassy in Libya denies report of plans to relocate Gazans to country
Mission rejects NBC report US is in ‘serious’ talks to move up to 1 million Palestinians to war-torn North African country
The US embassy in Libya denied on Sunday a report that the US government was working on a plan to relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Libya.
“The report of alleged plans to relocate Gazans to Libya is untrue,” the US embassy said on the X platform.
The Tripoli-based internationally recognized Government of National Unity was not available for immediate comment.
On Thursday, NBC News said the Trump administration is working on a plan to permanently relocate as many as one million Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Libya.
The report cited five people with knowledge of the matter, including two people with direct knowledge and a former US official.
In exchange for resettling the Palestinians, the administration would release to Libya billions of dollars of funds the US froze more than a decade ago, the report said.
An official told the US network that it remains unclear where one million Palestinians from Gaza could be settled in the largely lawless Libya, which has been plunged into chaos and division since the 2011 civil war in which longtime dictator Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown and killed.
The report also noted the logistical challenges involved in transporting one million people from Gaza to Libya, particularly with no airport in the Strip.
“These reports are untrue,” an administration spokesperson told NBC in response. “The situation on the ground is untenable for such a plan. Such a plan was not discussed and makes no sense.”
US President Donald Trump has previously said he would like the United States to take over the Gaza Strip and see its Palestinian population resettled elsewhere.

Democrat Reintroduces Reparations Bill That Could Cost More Than Annual U.S. Budget
A Democrat congresswoman has revived an effort to provide reparations payments to black Americans for slavery, introducing legislation that would cost trillions of dollars.
Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA) reintroduced the Reparations Now resolution, which was first introduced by former Rep. Cori Bush in 2023.
Lee says that the funds are owed to black Americans. “Black folks are owed more than thoughts and prayers. We’re owed repair, we’re owed restitution, and we’re owed justice,” Lee said at a press conference as she announced the reintroduction of the bill. “We’re here to say that there’s no more waiting, no more watering down, no more putting justice on layaway.”
If enacted, the bill is estimated to cost a whopping $14 trillion. The gross domestic product of the entire United States in 2023, by comparison, was just over $27 trillion, while the federal government’s entire budget in that same year was $6.1 trillion.
Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), a member of the far-Left coalition of Democrats referred to as “the squad,” echoed Lee’s remarks and accused Trump’s policies of being “anti-blackness on steroids.”
“We will not back down in our pursuit of racial justice,” Pressley said. “The antidote to anti-Blackness is to be pro-Black, and we will do it unapologetically. The United States government owes us a debt, and we need reparations now.”
Cori Bush, who originally introduced the bill in 2023 before losing her reelection bid, joined the two at the press conference. “You cannot turn your back on the demand for reparations, because until there is repair, there will be no justice,” Bush said. “And where there is no justice, we will continue to fight. We’re not going anywhere.”
The legislation, which died after it was first introduced in 2023, has little chance of advancing in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives.
Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX) introduced legislation earlier this year in the hopes of preventing state and local governments from enacting reparations policies.
“Reparations based on race or historical grievances are not only unfair: they’re unconstitutional and divisive,” Babin said as he announced the legislation, which would strip federal funding from states and localities that pass reparations bills. “Our nation should focus on policies that promote economic opportunity for all, not government handouts based on ancestry.”
