Half Mile ‘Rainbow Road’ Painted in DC for ‘World Pride’

Stretching half a mile along 15th Street between V and O Streets NW, a vibrant new mural called Rainbow Road now lines the protected bike lanes with a message as bright as its colors: Pride is for everyone.

Led by renowned muralist Lisa Marie Thalhammer and commissioned in partnership with the Capital Pride Alliance, this mural is believed to be one of the longest murals to feature LGBTQ+ artists, at 10,000-square-feet. The project features original designs by eight LGBTQ+ artists: Thalhammer, Maps Glover, Mundy Spears, Zeynep Uruc, Keyonna Jones, Nia Keturah Calhoun, Beezy and Micah Meyers.

Boomers, Let's Face It: The Math Doesn't Work

The ship is not just taking on water; it's loaded with third rails and sacred cows that can't be touched, and so it's doomed to sink if we do nothing…

There are many consequential things we can't discuss factually because the topic upsets everyone. And since getting upset shuts down any direct discussion of difficult issues, these issues metastasize into problems that end up sinking the ship.

The Titanic has already struck the iceberg and is doomed, but since this upsets the passengers, we dance around the facts rather than take immediate action. Everything about the situation is upsetting, and so emotions dominate the zeitgeist: resentments, blame-game, accusations, the whole self-reinforcing dynamic leads to people shouting at others as they drown. The last word, indeed.

Federal deficit spending and the overweighting of entitlement spending on retirees is too upsetting to discuss factually, so we don't. But the math doesn't work, and so the ship will sink. This was obvious 20 years ago, when I posted this: Boomers, Prepare to Fall on Your Swords (June 2005), in which I suggested that well-off Boomers address the problem by gracefully making the necessary sacrifices rather than heap them on the younger generations.

It was even more obvious by 2013, when I posted this: Generation X: An Inconvenient Era (May 23, 2013), in which correspondent Eric A. explains how the math doesn't work.

Let's start with some necessary stipulations. When I suggest well-off Boomers accept the need to make sacrifices to save the ship from sinking, I suggest this as someone in this cohort.

I am a Boomer, drawing my Social Security benefit, which like my lifetime income, is close to the national median SSA benefit. I'm solidly in the middle of the pack. Being over the age of 65, I also have Medicare benefits. Like many others of my generation, I've lived frugally, saved money, worked hard, etc. Since I'm still working, I pay Social Security and Medicare taxes–15.3% of all earned income as I am self-employed.

Unlike others in my generation, I attribute only a modest percentage of my net worth to frugality and working hard, as the majority of whatever "wealth" I own is the direct result of the hyper-financialization credit-asset bubble that's been inflated since 2007.

Another war looming on Trumpo's watch from the Israeli terror networks

Rubio Says Syria Could Be 'Weeks Away' From Civil War, State Collapse (Again)

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio last Thursday met with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and other ruling Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) officials in Antalya, Turkey - just as President Trump controversially greeted Syria's new ruler Ahmed al-Sharaa (Jolani) in Riyadh. Rubio's was the first such US meeting with a Syrian foreign minister in fifteen years, the State Department later said.

Following this, Rubio on Tuesday went before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to defend the administration's dropping of all Syria sanctions, in order to "give them a chance" - as Trump said of Syria while on his Gulf visit. Rubio sounded an alarm, warning that the already war-torn country could be weeks away from civil war and collapse of the HTS government. Watch:

"It is our assessment that, frankly, the transitional authority, given the challenges they’re facing, are maybe weeks — not many months — away from potential collapse and a full-scale civil war of epic proportions, basically the country splitting up," Rubio told the Senate hearing. There have for weeks been running street battles between HTS and Druze factions in the south and in suburbs of Damascus.

Describing the rationale behind dropping the years-long brutal US sanctions, Rubio said: "We want to help that government succeed, because the alternative is full-scale civil war and chaos, which would, of course, destabilize the entire region."

Of course, the supreme and dark irony here is that it was Washington which led destabilization efforts in Syria over the last decade in the first place, with the CIA's Operation Timber Sycamore. Assad fled the country on December 8, and since then the brutal Islamist group HTS and US-designated terrorist Sharaa/Jolani has ruled from Damascus.

Real men guard a woman’s privacy; predators harvest it.

In my Oversight hearing today I’m going to expose predator and rapist Patrick Bryant for the monster he is. With evidence. Naked bodies. Legs spread apart. Upskirt photos. The kinds of things he would film and photograph women without their knowledge, permission or consent.

He stored these images for YEARS. And the victims didn’t know.

He is the inspiration for many bills I’ve filed since uncovering what he did to so many women.

The Sue Voyeurs Act and the Stop Voyeurs Act among them.

He still roams free. Free to continue filming women without their knowledge.

I aim to stop this behavior with and protect his many victims with this legislation.

Walmart And Target Are Really Jacking Up Their Prices

Are you ready to pay 80 percent more for a USB-C cord? Unfortunately, Walmart, Target and other major retailers have decided to start dramatically raising the prices of thousands of imported products. Of course our paychecks are not going up dramatically as well, and so our standard of living is going to go down. We live at a time when 70 percent of Americans are already more financially stressed than they have ever been before, and now big corporations are going to be hitting us with a tsunami of enormous price hikes.

If prices of many imported goods go up by 5 or 10 percent, we can handle that.

But apparently Target is going n*ts with their price hikes. For example, it is being reported that the price of one popular USB-C cord is being increased by 80 percent…

Now, thanks to insider information from Target workers, the extent of the raises are becoming apparent. Staff say it is just the beginning.

A $9.99 USB-C cord from the store’s in-house Heyday brand is now ringing up at $17.99, according to a self-identified employee on Reddit.

‘It’s happening,’ the worker wrote, sharing a photo of the price tag update. ‘All of Heyday is going up.’

Seriously?

Did Target really need to do this?

And Target CEO Brian Cornell has also warned that prices will be going up on many common grocery items…

The company’s CEO, Brian Cornell, started warning customers during a March earnings call, when the US was staring down potential 25 percent tariffs on Mexican and Canadian products.

At the time, he warned that everyday grocery items that frequently cross borders before making their way to Target’s aisles — like strawberries, avocados, bananas, and coffee beans — were set to increase.

Of course Target is not the only major retailer that is raising prices.

Last week, Walmart CFO John David Rainey told CNBC that customers should expect price increases “towards the tail end of this month, and then certainly much more in June”…

In an interview with CNBC, Chief Financial Officer John David Rainey said tariffs are “still too high” – even with the recently announced agreement to lower duties on imports from China to 30% for 90 days.

“We’re wired for everyday low prices, but the magnitude of these increases is more than any retailer can absorb,” he said. “It’s more than any supplier can absorb. And so I’m concerned that consumer is going to start seeing higher prices. You’ll begin to see that, likely towards the tail end of this month, and then certainly much more in June.”

When President Trump heard about this, he went ballistic.

3 Marine Corps Bases to Post Immigration Agents at Gates to Crackdown on Illegal Entries

The Marine Corps is partnering with federal immigration authorities under a pilot program the service says is aimed at preventing foreign nationals from unlawfully accessing multiple installations across the country, spokespeople for the service told Military.com on Tuesday.

Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in California announced Friday that it is integrating Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents into its installation security. A spokesperson for the Marine Corps said that ICE agents will also be part of installation security at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, and Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

The pilot program is in the "proof-of-concept" phase, and Marines will not be enforcing immigration law, spokespeople from Pendleton said. The base announcement said that military and federal law enforcement roles will remain "clearly delineated" in accordance with federal guidelines, and that ICE agents will guard entry points with Marine gate personnel, not patrol the base's interior.

"Marine and family readiness start at our bases and stations, and the safety and security of our Marines, sailors, family members, civilian employees and all who work and have proper access to Marine Corps installations are of the utmost importance," Capt. Kevin Uebelhardt, a spokesperson for Headquarters Marine Corps, said in an emailed statement Tuesday.

"Our partnership with ICE enhances installation-level force protection by increasing visibility, coordination and threat awareness at critical access points and in surrounding areas," he added, noting that the pilot program is being rolled out at the Pendleton, Quantico and Hawaii installations.

Pendleton officials would not disclose how many instances of unauthorized access the base recorded over the last five years; suspected trespassers' countries of origin; or generally the scope and scale of the unauthorized access issues the program intends to address.

Second Lt. Anna Hornick, a Pendleton spokesperson, said the service does not "disclose force protection details" in response to the questions from Military.com.

She characterized the pilot program as being part of a broader effort to deter unauthorized installation entry, but would not comment on whether ICE agents were currently at the base. Two other spokespeople characterized the pilot program as ongoing.

"This interagency cooperative effort is being evaluated for effectiveness and scalability," a Pendleton news release said. "Its success may inform future iterations across other Marine Corps installations, particularly those proximate to border regions, ports of entry, or critical infrastructure corridors."

While President Donald Trump's administration has increasingly relied on the military to detect, detain and deport migrants suspected of entering the U.S. illegally, the pilot program comes amid a backdrop of several high-profile instances in which foreign nationals or drones have attempted to enter military installations, including Marine Corps bases.

The Wall Street Journal reported in 2023 that Chinese nationals had accessed military installations roughly 100 times in previous years, citing unnamed officials at the time.

Last year, two Jordanian men tried to enter Quantico; a month prior, authorities detained a Chinese national attempting to access a Marine base in California; and the service "disabled" a drone flying over Camp Blaz, Guam last year, leading to criminal charges for its operator.

"The collaboration with ICE is not in response to a specific incident, but rather is part of an ongoing effort to constantly improve our security posture to protect our most valued resource: our people," said Uebelhardt, the spokesperson for the Marine Corps. "Cooperation between installation law enforcement and ICE continues a history of teamwork that dates back to the establishment of [the Department of Homeland Security]."

When asked whether cases involving Chinese nationals suspected of espionage were being handled differently from immigrants from Mexico, for example, Hornick did not directly answer, but said that "ICE is here to deter unauthorized installation attempts by any unauthorized foreign nationals" and that it operates under its own approved procedures.

WHO assembly adopts ‘pandemic agreement’ binding countries to unified response

The World Health Organization’s newly adopted Pandemic Agreement binds member countries to a unified, WHO-directed response to future pandemics, raising concerns about national sovereignty and global control.

The World Health Organization (WHO) assembly has adopted a “pandemic agreement” to regulate countries’ responses to future pandemics.

On May 20, member states of the WHO have approved the Pandemic Agreement, a treaty that critics have warned would give the globalist WHO increased power in the event of another “pandemic.”

The agreement began by “recognizing that the World Health Organization is the directing and coordinating authority on international health work, including on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response.”

The agreement, which took three years to finalize, binds all countries that are part of the WHO. Notably, the United States, under the direction of President Donald Trump, is not part of the agreement.

According to the agreement, “the international spread of disease is a global threat with serious consequences for lives, livelihoods, societies and economies that calls for the widest possible international and regional collaboration, cooperation and solidarity with all people and countries, especially developing countries, and notably least developed countries and small island developing States.”

While the treaty repeatedly assures that it will reaffirm “the principle of the sovereignty of States in addressing public health matters,” it calls for a one-state response, directed by the WHO, to future health crises.

“The Parties shall promote a One Health approach for pandemic prevention, preparedness and response,” the agreement declares.

Each country is expected to “take measures that it considers appropriate, aimed at promoting human, animal and environmental health, with support, as necessary and upon request, from the World Health Organization and other relevant intergovernmental organizations.”

As part of being prepared for a future “pandemic,” each country is instructed to “strengthen its national and, where appropriate, regional regulatory authority responsible for the authorization and approval of pandemic-related health products, including through technical assistance from, and cooperation with the World Health Organization.”

The treaty also forces countries to adopt medical practices that are deemed appropriate by the WHO, including experimental “vaccines” and other “safe and effective products.”

Countries are also instructed to prevent alleged “misinformation” surrounding a health crisis, while boosting confidence in the WHO’s credibility.

Agreement members are expected “conduct research and inform policies on factors that hinder or strengthen adherence to public health and social measures in a pandemic and trust in science and public health institutions, authorities and agencies.”

Adoption of the agreement comes despite warnings that it will undermine national sovereignty and could usher in a one-world government as the WHO would be given unprecedented power over countries in the event of another “pandemic.”

Characteristics associated with the Antichrist:

  1. Evil and Deceptive:

The Antichrist is depicted as a figure of extreme evil, a "man of sin" and "son of perdition," according to 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12.

He will be a skilled deceiver, using signs and wonders to trick people and convince them of his power and authority.

  1. Tyrannical and Powerful:

The Antichrist will rise to a position of great power, potentially leading to a one-world government.

He will use this power to oppress and control people, seeking to establish his own reign and rule.

  1. Claim to Divinity:

The Antichrist will claim to be God himself, sitting in the temple of God and asserting his divine authority.

This will be a deliberate attempt to usurp the position of God and deceive people into worshipping him.

  1. Apostasy and False Prophecies:

The Antichrist will emerge during a time of general apostasy, leading people away from their faith and into a state of disbelief.

He will use false prophecies and teachings to further deceive people and make them believe his claims.

  1. Association with Satan:

The Antichrist is often described as the "Son of Satan" or a direct ally of Satan.

This suggests that he will be a tool of Satan in his final, desperate assault on God and his church.

  1. Symbolism and Imagery:

The Antichrist is sometimes associated with the "beast from the sea" and "beast from the earth," with a number of 666.

These symbols represent his demonic nature and his opposition to God and Christ.

Russia outlaws Amnesty International in latest crackdown on dissent and activists

The Russian authorities on Monday outlawed Amnesty International as an “undesirable organization,” a label that under a 2015 law makes involvement with such organizations a criminal offense.

The decision by the Russian Prosecutor General’s office, announced in an online statement, is the latest in the unrelenting crackdown on Kremlin critics, journalists and activists that intensified to unprecedented levels after Moscow invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

The designation means the international human rights group must stop any work in Russia, and it subjects those who cooperate with it or support it to prosecution, including if anyone shares Amnesty International’s reports on social media.

Agnès Callamard, Amnesty International’s secretary general, said the move was part of the Russian government’s efforts to silence dissent and isolate civil society. “The authorities are deeply mistaken if they believe that by labeling our organization ‘undesirable,’ we will stop our work documenting and exposing human rights violations – quite the opposite,” she said in a statement. “We will not give in to the threats and will continue undeterred to work to ensure that people in Russia are able to enjoy their human rights without discrimination.”

New York Hasidic developer sentenced to 7 years in prison for real estate fraud

Elchonon 'Elie' Schwartz defrauded over 800 investors out of $62.8 million through fake commercial property deals and used the funds for luxury purchases

Schwartz, 46, was sentenced to 87 months in prison by a federal judge in the Northern District of Georgia and ordered to pay over $45 million in restitution. He pleaded guilty in February to wire fraud in connection with a scheme that involved raising millions through the real estate crowdfunding platform CrowdStreet.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, between May and November 2022, Schwartz solicited funds from investors for two major commercial real estate projects: a $54 million acquisition of the Atlanta Financial Center in Buckhead, Georgia, and an $8.8 million recapitalization of a mixed-use property in Miami Beach, Florida. At the time, Schwartz was CEO of Nightingale Properties and claimed to have a $10 billion track record.

CrowdStreet promoted Schwartz as a top-tier sponsor and marketed the deals to retail investors. Schwartz told investors their money would be held in segregated escrow accounts and used solely for the real estate transactions.

Instead, prosecutors said, nearly all of the funds were diverted to Schwartz’s personal bank and brokerage accounts. He used the money to buy luxury items, including a Grönefeld 1941 Remontoire watch worth about $120,000, invest in volatile stock options, and cover payroll costs at other struggling properties.

Neither the Atlanta nor the Miami deal was ever completed. By mid-2023, both Nightingale subsidiaries involved had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. A trustee appointed by CrowdStreet has been working to recover the stolen funds, though less than 20% has been returned so far.

"Schwartz’s greed was boundless," U.S. Attorney Theodore Hertzberg said in a statement. The FBI called the case a "callous abuse of investor trust" and vowed continued efforts to combat white-collar crime.

Victims of the fraud include doctors, nurses, retirees, and small business owners, many of whom invested between $25,000 and $250,000. Some reported losing retirement savings or postponing children’s education plans. Chicago businessman Craig Leva, who lost money in the scheme, criticized the sentence as too lenient. “It feels like he’s too wealthy and too connected. He’ll walk away and do it again,” Leva said.

Prosecutors had recommended a sentence of 78 to 97 months, citing Schwartz’s lack of criminal history and his cooperation with authorities. His defense argued for probation, saying he buckled under the pressure of the post-pandemic real estate crash

US intel suggests Israel preparing strike on Iran's nuclear facilities, CNN reports

New intelligence obtained by the United States suggests that Israel is making preparations to strike Iranian nuclear facilities, CNN reported on Tuesday, citing multiple U.S. officials familiar with the intelligence.

It was not clear whether Israeli leaders have made a final decision and there was disagreement within the U.S. government about whether they would ultimately decide to carry out strikes, CNN added, citing the officials.

Reuters could not immediately confirm the report. The National Security Council did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Israeli Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond, nor did the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, which was contacted after hours.

One source familiar with the intelligence told CNN the likelihood of an Israeli strike on an Iranian nuclear facility "has gone up significantly in recent months."

The person added that the chance of a strike would be more likely if the U.S. reached a deal with Iran that did not remove all of the country's uranium, CNN added.

President Donald Trump's administration has been conducting negotiations with Iran aimed at achieving a diplomatic deal over its nuclear program.

The new intelligence was based on the public and private communications from senior Israeli officials as well as intercepted Israeli communications and observations of Israeli military movements that could suggest an imminent strike, CNN reported.

CNN cited two sources saying that among the military preparations the U.S. had observed were the movement of air munitions and the completion of an air exercise.

Earlier on Tuesday, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said U.S. demands that Tehran stop enriching uranium are "excessive and outrageous," state media reported, voicing doubts over whether talks on a new nuclear deal will succeed.
