We all know George Orwell’s famous saying, “Who controls the past controls the future,” and we should remind ourselves on the hour of yet another, “To see what is in front of one’s nose requires a constant struggle.”
Who or what forces might control our perception of the past and why? What natural and unexpected forces have the will or capacity to manage our collective memories well enough we pay taxes to criminals and fight wars on command? What “invisible laws and powers” have brought us to such confusion that we have, “almost without a thought,” build a worldwide technological prison and surveillance system? Why having done so, in the name of national security, do we hand the jail house keys to our enemies and patiently enjoy our sustainability, security and wellness as we await extermination in the death camp we built for the cult

"At Delphi, Apollo slit the throat of a young pig, held it over Orestes, and let the blood trickle over his head, his chest and his hands. This was the purification required by the for matricide. But why did it have to be an effective act, and a divine one?
" Killing precedes the law and cannot be healed by the law alone: this was the premise. Killing contaminates produces a contagion that must be stopped. How?
“With butchery of meat there was a continual killing of animals, on which the community relied for sustenance. But that killing was to be carried out in ceremonial form. It was a form of sacrifice. Blood sacrifice was blood poured over a wrong to heal it - an operation that had to be repeated, since the wrong was being repeated. In Athens certain officials, the 'peristiarchoi' had the task of killing young pigs and having their blood scattered in the agora, in the places of assembly, even in the 'theater', according to a gloss on Aeschines.
“The victims were called 'Katharsia', purifiers. Spectators, purified by the blood of a pig that had wetted the steps on which they were sitting, then watched dramas in which human blood was shed. There were two purifications– one at the beginning another at the end. Always by way of blood. This was how theater originated.
“Aristotle suggested that a killing_ by murder, sacrifice or suicide-could be purified by a retelling of the killing itself. It was simply a retelling of 'Katharmos, (sometimes translated as, miasma, illusion corruption)'. An alternative of far-reaching repercussions."

“The fairy tale,” Walter Benjamin said, “is the first tutor of children because it was the first tutor of mankind.”
