While lifestyle improvements have merit, they ignore the root causes of health disparities: poverty and inequality, as confirmed by rigorous studies.
“I worry for Americans, for my friends and colleagues in research and medicine,” Griffin says. The erosion of public health and attacks on science, justified by short-term political wins, threaten lasting harm.
