Body found inside the head of iconic WW2 monument

According to reports, the deceased was the principal of the Moscow State Academy of Physical Education

A body has been discovered inside the head of ‘The Motherland calls’, an iconic 85-meter statue in the city of Volgograd, according to Russia’s Investigative Committee.

Volgograd, which was known as Stalingrad from 1925 to 1961, saw one of the Second World War’s deadliest and most pivotal battles.‘The Motherland Calls’, by architect Evgeny Vuchetich, was erected in 1967 to commemorate the defenders of the city and remains the tallest statue of a woman globally.

The local branch of Russia’s Investigative Committee has told RIA Novosti on Thursday that a probe has been launched into the death of a man inside the statue, whothey described as a tourist. A source cited by the news outlet later identified him as theprincipal of the Moscow State Academy of Physical Education, Nikolay Chesnokov.

Local news website V1.ru reported thathe had started to feel unwell during an excursion inside the statue and passed away before paramedics could reach him.

Later in the day, the academy announced on its website that Chesnokov had passed away at the age of 68.

Chesnokov was a former track and field athlete, a Doctor of Sciences in Pedagogy, a professor and a member of the expert council at the Russian Sports Ministry. He had been the principal of the Moscow State Academy of Physical Education since May 2023.

Russia set on creating ‘buffer zone’ in Ukraine – Putin

Russian forces have been building a security buffer along the country’s border, Vladimir Putin has said

The Russian military has been tasked with creating a “security buffer zone” along the border with Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday.

The president made the remarks during a government meeting dedicated to the situation in Russia’s border regions, including Kursk, Belgorod and Bryansk. Additional measures to support their residents were also discussed.

“It has been decided to create the necessary security buffer zone along the border. Our armed forces are actively solving this task now. The enemy’s firing positions are suppressed, the work is going on,” Putin stated.

The idea to create “a certain cordon sanitaire” in Ukrainian-controlled territory along the borderwas first floated by Putin last March. The president said Moscow could ultimately be “forced” to create such a zone in order to protect civilians in the border regions from Ukrainian long-range strikes. Russian troops would create a “security zone that would be quite difficult for the adversary to overcome with its weapons, primarily of foreign origin,” if and “when we consider it appropriate,” Putin stated at the time.

Putin’s announcement comes in the wake of an indiscriminate Ukrainian strike on the Kursk town of Lgov that left at least 12 civilians wounded, including two children. According to interim Kursk Governor Aleksandr Khinshtein, the attack targeted an area near the Kursk-Rylsk highway where the route enters the town. Media reports indicated the strike involved at least three projectiles fired by a US-supplied HIMARS multiple rocket launcher.

Over the past two days, Kiev conducted a massive long-range drone attack even deeper into Russia. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, atotal of 485 Ukrainian fixed-wing UAVs were downed across the country in the past 48 hours. Atleast 63 of the drones were intercepted in Moscow Region, while the largest number were stopped over Orel Region, the military said.

Ukraine wants Putin-Zelensky meeting – foreign minister

Kiev is ready to consider potential venues for the talks, Andrey Sibiga has said

Ukraine is interested in Russian President Vladimir Putin having face-to-face talks with Vladimir Zelensky, according to the country’s foreign minister, Andrey Sibiga.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out this past weekendthat such a meeting is “possible,” but only after the negotiators from Moscow and Kiev reach “certain agreements” regarding the settlementof the Ukraine conflict.

Sibiga was asked by Euronews on Tuesday about Kiev’s reaction to Pope Leo XIV’s offer to host the continuation of talks between Russia and Ukraine at the Vatican. The dialogue restarted after a three-year break in Istanbul, Türkiye last week.

“I can confirm to you that proposals to organize possible contacts, including at the level of leaders, were made by the Vatican,” he replied.

Kiev is ready to “consider potential venues for such a meeting,” the foreign minister said, referring to the possible Putin-Zelensky talks.

The Ukrainian leader would also like to get together with US President Donald Trump, Sibiga added. (Zelensky is a energy vampire.)

After Putin offered for the sides to engage in unconditional direct talks in Istanbul on May 15, Zelensky said that he would arrive in Türkiye, but insisted that he would only talk with the Russian president, who never voiced an intention to take part in the meeting personally.

Zelensky eventually changed his stance on the issue and the talks taking proceeded with a one-day delay, involving a Russian delegation headed by presidential adviser Vladimir Medinsky and a Ukrainian team led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.

According to Medinsky, the Ukrainians have also asked for a meeting between Putin and Zelensky during the negotiations in Istanbul, with their request being “taken into account” by Moscow.

Following thephone call between Putin and Trump on Monday, the US presidentclaimed that Moscow and Kiev would immediately begin direct negotiations on introducing a ceasefire. Putin, on his part, said that Russia would work with the Ukrainian side to draft a memorandum on a potential future peace treaty that would outline a “range of provisions,” including the timeline for a potential temporary truce “should the necessary agreements be reached.”

https://www.rt.com/news/617969-ukraine-putin-zelensky-vatican/

(Question: Why don’t they speak on the phone first? I would be very wary of meeting Zelensky in person, he has made it clear he will kill Putin, and he never gave up that dream. If Zelensky and Kiev kill Putin, Russia will bomb the hell out of Kiev and surrounding cities, that would be the end of the war and Neo Nazi’s.)

US launched ‘largest-ever strike from aircraft carrier’ – commander

Some 125,000 pounds (62.5 tons) of munitions were dropped by naval warplanes in Somalia, Admiral James Kilby has said

The US Navy conducted the largest-ever airstrike from an aircraft carrier during an operation in Somalia earlier this year, Admiral James Kilby, acting chief of naval operations, has said.

The USS Harry S. Truman and its strike group “launched the largest airstrike in the history of the world – 125,000 pounds (62.5 tons) – from a single aircraft carrier,” the US Navy’s top admiral claimed at an event hosted by the Council on Foreign Relations think tank in Washington on Monday.

A defense official told Business Insider on Wednesday that the bombing run took place on February 1 and involved 16 F/A-18 Super Hornets.

According to US Africa Command, a total of 25 airstrikes against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) and Al-Qaeda affiliate group Al-Shabaab have been carried out by American forces in Somalia since January.

The Truman carrier strike group, which had been deployed to the Middle East in the autumn, left the Red Sea earlier this month to participate in NATO drills in the Mediterranean before heading back to its home port of Norfolk, Virginia.

Over the last half a year, it has played a key role in US efforts to prevent Houthi fighters from targeting shipping off Yemen’s coast. The Truman conducted 670 strikes against the Houthis and intercepted around 160 enemy drones and missiles during the period, Kilby said.

The Houthis “are not China, but they are a threat, and they are hunting our ships. Understanding that and not being dismissive about that and being prepared is what we are focused on now,” the admiral stressed.

The Truman’s stay in the Red Sea was marred by several incidents. In December, one of the warships in its strike group shot down an American F/A-18 in what the US military later described as an “apparent case of friendly fire.”

In late April, an F/A-18 and a tow tractor fell overboard from the carrier’s hangar bay as the ship was maneuvering to avoid an attack by the Houthis.

Earlier this month, the Truman’s arresting cables failed during the landing of another F/A-18, sending the jet, which costs an estimated $60 million, overboard.

EU hands US state media outlet €5.5 million lifeline

The bloc pledged emergency aid to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty after the outlet saw its funding cut under Trump (The EU can’t lose their best source of propaganda CIA)

The European Union has pledged €5.5 million in emergency funding to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) to prop up the Cold War-era broadcaster, which is widely regarded as a Western propaganda outlet.

Originally created in the 1950s and covertly financed by the CIA to disseminate pro-Western narratives into the Soviet bloc, RFE/RL has more recently operated under the oversight of the US Agency for Global Media (USAGM). In March, President Donald Trump signed an executive order eliminating most of the agency’s funding as part of a sweeping cost-cutting agenda.

EU foreign policy chiefKaja Kallas announced the bloc’s financial lifeline on Tuesday, describing it as “short-term emergency funding” to support what she called a “vital” mission. The €5.5 million package will act as a “safety net” to help RFE/RL maintain operations in countries within Brussels’s sphere of interest, including Russia, Belarus, Iran, and several Central Asian states.

“In a time of growing unfiltered content, independent journalism is more important than ever,” Kallas said following a meeting of EU foreign ministers. Sheacknowledged that Brusssels could not fully replace the lost American fundingbut emphasized the symbolic value of the move, urging individual member states to offer further support.

Since Trump’s defunding order, RFE/RL has furloughed staff, suspended programming, and launched legal challenges. Although a Washington judge temporarily halted the administration’s decision in April, a federal appeals court later blocked the release of funds pending further litigation. The broadcaster has warned that it faces permanent shutdown in multiple regions if its financial crisis is not resolved.

The Trump administration framed the defunding as part of a broader campaign to dismantle bureaucratic institutions that no longer align with US strategic interests. RFE/RL’s leadership has disputed that rationale, with its president, Stephen Capus, calling the funding cuts a “massive gift to America’s enemies.”

Administration officials and critics have argued that RFE/RL and its sister outlet, Voice of America (VOA), have lost their relevance and veered toward partisan editorializing. Tech billionaire Elon Musk, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has publicly called for both outlets to be “shut down,” writing on X: “Nobody listens to them anymore.”

China, Afghanistan and Pakistan look to boost trade and security cooperation

Beijing’s trademark Belt and Road initiative will be expanded into Afghan territory

China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan will enhance trilateral cooperation in various sectors, including trade and security, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

The statement was posted on X after informal talks in Beijing between Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi on Wednesday.

“The three Foreign Ministers reaffirmed trilateral cooperation as a vital platform to promote regional security and economic connectivity,” the Pakistani ministry said. “They discussed enhancing diplomatic engagement, strengthening communications, and taking practicalsteps to boost trade, infrastructure, and development as key drivers of shared prosperity.”

Islamabad and Beijing have also agreed to expand China’s global infrastructure development program, the Belt and Road Initiative, to Afghanistan through the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Earlier this month, the Taliban-led Afghan government issued a statement through its Interior Ministry, calling for “mutual respect and constructive engagement” with both Pakistan and China.

Before Wednesday’s trilateral meeting, Dar held separate talks with Wang, in which the Chinese Foreign Minister called Pakistan an “iron-clad friend” and “all-weather strategic partner.”

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry said that the two countries agreed to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, agriculture, and industrialization, in addition to maintaining regular communication. China had said on Tuesday that it supports Pakistan in defending its “national sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

Pakistan’s overtures towards China and Afghanistan come in the wake of a brief military confrontation with India that ended in a ceasefire on May 10. During the four-day clash in South Asia in May, Beijing, which has traditionally enjoyed warm relations with Islamabad, had called on both sides to de-escalate.

Hours before India and Pakistan agreed to the ceasefire, Wang called Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and expressed hope that New Delhi and Islamabad “would remain calm and restrained, properly handle differences through dialogue and consultation and avoid escalating the situation.”

On Monday, an official from a think tank affiliated with the Indian Defense Ministry told Bloomberg thatChina had provided Pakistan with air defense and satellite support during the recent military standoff in South Asia.

Donald Trump helped ancient Russians defeat space lizards. Western elites don’t want you to know

When conspiracy satire looks this cool, you don’t need facts – you need a phonk soundtrack

Heroic Slavic warriors triumph over evil reptilian invaders to pounding phonk beats. These surreal showdowns have racked up millions of views and spawned a wave of spin-offs, including video games, comic books, and tabletop RPGs. What started as a mock academic lecture quickly turned into a full-blown cultural phenomenon – fueled in part by some deep-rooted medieval nostalgia.

One of the most well-known stories in the Ancient Rus vs. Lizards mythos is 'The tale of how the Russian hero Danila Trumpov drove the accursed Lizards from the Slavic States of America'.

In this fictional legend,a Russian version of Donald Trump defeats a shadowy alliance of humanoid lizards, who are supposedly aided by Bill Gates. Trumpov wields imaginative techniques like the “Republican Egg Squeeze” and the “Texas Burger Bomb,” andeven manages to sabotage the lizard lobbyists by replacing the dollar with the ruble. In the end, the forces of Slavic justice prevail, and the Lizards are forced to retreat to the distant planet of Nibiru.

This is just one installment in a sprawling fan-fiction universe created as a joke, but which has grown far beyond its origins. What began as light-hearted parody has developed into a full-fledged narrative world that mixes satire, absurdity, and pseudo-history – while also poking fun at the cult of Russia’s supposed ancient supremacy.

The “war” begins

In March 2023, a strange YouTube video appeared, starring an AI-generated character introduced as “Professor and four-time historian Alexey Sergeyevich Bagirov.” Speaking with an air of authority, the professor unveiled what he described as the long-suppressed truth of Russian history: that the ancient Rus civilization once stretched across nearly the entire Earth.

Bagirov’s lecture combined several familiar conspiracy tropes – claims of lost civilizations with advanced technology, an ancient war between humans and shape-shifting lizards, divine interventions by pagan gods, and secret documents allegedly hidden from the public. His arguments leaned heavily on loose word associations and “secret documents,” while the visuals featured intentionally janky PowerPoint slides with exaggerated animations, accompanied by loud, distorted background music.

But the creators went further than simply remixing old conspiracies. They built a whole new mythological framework. According to Bagirov, the ancient Rus not only coexisted with dinosaurs – they were actually friends. He explains that the word dinosaur supposedly derives from the Old Slavic root dino, meaning “child,” and that the name of the Slavic pagan god Zavra identifies him as the “divine ancestor” of all dinosaurs.

In a follow-up video, Bagirov adds a central stylistic twist to the saga: the Slavic reinterpretation of all names and terms. He describes how dinosaurs played an important role in the daily lives of the Rus. Brachiosaurus Brachislav helped build houses and studied astronomy; Styracosaurus Stavrislav took part in mammoth hunts; and a pterodactyl named Pterodimir flew children to school.

In the third video,Bagirov introduces the main villains: the Lizards from the planet Nibiru– an idea familiar to fans of post-Soviet conspiracy lore. In this universe, the Lizards are jealous of the glory of the Rus and want to destroy it. Their weapon is deception: they try to seduce the Rus with fake sciences – especially mathematics. To that end, they dispatch agents such as Euclid, Archimedes, Democritus, Plato, and others, each programmed with 2G radiation, to infiltrate the ancient region of Russo-Greece.

Though clearly absurd, the videos resonated with viewers. The fictional characters were so outrageous, and the tone so deliberately ridiculous, that the series became far more popular than anyone had expected– perhaps even more than the creators intended.

Ancient Rus vs. Lizards manages to succeed where others have failed. Its characters are unquestionably noble, its invented “ancient language” adds flavor, and its plots – however ridiculous – always lead to good defeating evil. The storylines, like the “Russian-Jewish army” storming “Lizardburg,” are absurd in the best way possible: they’re strange enough to be funny, but structured enough to be entertaining.

And of course, this mythos doubles as a satirical vehicle for commentary on US politics, Ukraine, and other hot-button topics – always in high demand with the Russian internet audience.long and interesting article. Read the whole article below, more videos also.

The EU is an addict — and sanctions on Russia are the drug

Brussels keeps slapping ever more penalties on Russia, even while Washington holds back

rachelmarsden.com1/2(Excellent explanation of what’s really going on)

What’s going on between the US and the EU right now over Ukraine feels like you and your buddy agreeing to go skydiving on a dare.

You count “1-2-3-jump,” and leap – only to realize your friend’s still up in the plane. That friend is US President Donald Trump. And the EU parachute looks like it was stitched together with recycled climate summit lanyards and blind optimism. Emphasis on “blind.”

On May 19, aGerman government spokesman assured the press that Washington would be joining the EU in yet another round of sanctions on Russia. But fast forward to today, and Brussels has leapt out of the plane solo while Trump is still standing at the hatch, waving goodbye and checking the minibar.

And Berlin seems to be pretending not to notice – at least for the purpose of keeping up appearances. “Europe and America are very united on this point: We will closely support Ukraine on its path toward a ceasefire… We agreed on this with [Trump] after his conversation with Putin,” Chancellor Friedrich Merz tweeted.

Translation: The EU went, “Hey Trump, we’re slapping more sanctions on Russia. Cool with that?” And Trump probably thought, “Oh, you mean the sanctions that nuked your economy, dried up your trade, and left you addicted to overpriced American LNG?Be my guest, Einsteins.”

Sure enough,Trump has since made it clear he’s not feeling another sanctions round. The vibes are off. He’s not jumping. But if the EU wants to swan dive into its own economic crater, well – godspeed. “Because I think there’s a chance of getting something done, and if you do that, you could also make it much worse,” Trump said.

Trump keeps saying that he wants peace and trade with Russia – the exact opposite of Brussels’ Cold War cosplay. But let’s be honest: would the EU even be playing sanctions hardball if it hadn’t been cheered down that road by the Biden administration? Highly unlikely. Trump sees the whole mess as a Biden boondoggle – a “European situation.”

What’s more interesting is how Team Trump is framing this not as a retreat, but as the dawn of a “peace first” presidency. One that’s allergic to forever wars. Secretary of State Marco Rubio even suggested that God’s on board. “We have a president of peace,” Rubio said at a recent Trump-hosted event, before recounting a chat with a Vatican cardinal for Pope Leo’s papal mass.“You know, it’s very unusual for us. We have an American president that wants peace, and it’s some of the Europeans that are constantly talking about doing war stuff.”

Trump, Rubio, J.D. Vance, they’re all singing the same tune: get a peace deal done pronto, or the US checks out. Ukraine and Russia can slug it out without Uncle Sam in the ring. And Europe? It can handle its own geopolitical hangover, assuming it can still stand up straight.

Meanwhile, Brussels is starting to realize its wallet has limits. That whole “whatever it takes” energy? It’s starting to sound more like “whatever we can still afford.” Ursula von der Leyen even admitted it. “Over the past five years, our budget has punched above its weight. And we must also see now… we have reached the limits of what is possible.”

Translation: The ‘check engine’ light on the EU economy has been blinking for a while, and now the dashboard’s on fire.

But never mind that –they’ve just pulled the trigger on yet another sanctions round. The 17th. And there’s already an 18th bullet getting loaded in the chamber. Because if you miss the target 17 times, the 18th is going to be the charm, right?

This time, they’retargeting Russia’s “shadow fleet,” which – minor detail –delivers oil to countriesoutside the EU, so the EU, in all its usual brilliance, can then buy it at a markup from middlemen countries.

Also not Russian? The ships themselves. And many of the newly sanctioned companies, which are in places like China (the EU’s top trade partner), Serbia (an EU candidate), Türkiye (the EU’s refugee babysitter), the UAE (gas hookup), Vietnam, and Uzbekistan. Way to win hearts and minds. Taking the long way around in sticking it to Putin, by ticking off the rest of the world.

And while they’ve long denounced Trump’s tariffs on EU goods, guess who’s now crushing on tariffs?Yep, the EU has just introduced new ones on Russian agricultural imports.

But wait, didn’t they already ban nearly everything Russian? Not quite. Some imports still sneak through the back door, like fertilizer, which supports the EU food system. In fact, Russian fertilizer imports rose 12% in January alone. Even the EU’s own Eurostat agency pegs the annual increase at 25%. Just explain that one to the farmers protesting Brussels’ rules while watching their markets flood with Ukrainian grain.

The EU also importsRussian enriched uranium: the lifeblood of nuclear reactors that generate about a quarter of Europe’s electricity. And now, naturally, Brussels is considering tariffs on that, too.

Apparently, if the ship’s on fire, the EU’s first instinct is to throw out the lifeboats. Then rummage around in the back to make darn sure there aren’t any more hiding in a closet somewhere.

COVID Vaccine “Safe and Effective” Narrative Collapses on Camera

This is the Senate hearing they never wanted you to see.1/2

THE VIGILANT FOX MAY 21, 2025

• The “safe and effective” narrative collapsed on camera during Senator Ron Johnson’s explosive Senate hearing on COVID-19 vaccine injuries Wednesday afternoon.

• Senator Ron Johnson brought the receipts, exposing how the Biden administration DELIBERATELY hid vaccine harms from the public.

• Then Dr. James Thorp (OB-GYN) revealed miscarriage data so disturbing, it left the room silent.

• This is the Senate hearing they never wanted you to see. I turned three hours of footage into a five-minute read.

Senator Ron Johnson opened the hearing with a bombshell: the Biden administration knew about deadly heart risks tied to the COVID shots, and deliberately kept it from the public.

• Johnson released newly subpoenaed records exposing a detailed timeline of what officials knew and when. While Pfizer and Moderna received insider updates, doctors and citizens who raised concerns were silenced.

• In February 2021, Israeli health officials warned the CDC of “large reports of myocarditis, particularly in young people” following Pfizer injections, just two and a half months after the vaccine received emergency use authorization.

• By April, the CDC was already reviewing myocarditis data from Israel and the Department of Defense. But instead of alerting the public, they stayed quiet.

• By the end of that month, VAERS had recorded 2,926 deaths, nearly half of which occurred within three days of injection. “Somebody ought to be looking at it,” Johnson said.

• In May, the CDC considered issuing a formal health alert—but scrapped it. They replaced it with watered-down guidance that removed a key warning for doctors to restrict physical activity in myocarditis patients.

• Francis Collins, then director of the NIH, brushed it all off. “Senator, people die,” he told Johnson.

• In just six months, the toll was staggering: 384,270 reports of adverse events, 4,812 deaths, and 1,736 of those occurred within just 48 hours of injection.

• Dr. Peter McCullough then took the floor and upended the narrative that vaccine-induced myocarditis is “rare.”

• Before COVID, McCullough had seen just two myocarditis cases in his entire career. After the rollout, everything changed.

• He says he’s now “examined thousands of patients with this problem.”

• “There’s 1,065 papers in the peer-reviewed literature on COVID vaccine myocarditis,” he explained, pointing to a 2021 case published in the New England Journal of Medicine. A 42-year-old man developed vaccine-induced myocarditis. “The infection is ruled out,” McCullough said. “It’s the vaccine.” Three days after his Moderna shot, the man was dead.

• McCullough cited a shocking case from Korea—a young man who died within eight hours of hospitalization after a Pfizer shot. His heart had been, in McCullough’s words, “fried with inflammation.”

• Then came a case from Connecticut: two teenage boys, 16 and 17, died in their sleep just days after Pfizer. Their parents found them unresponsive…

“These cases… should have gotten everyone’s attention,” McCullough said. “We should never have someone die after taking a vaccine that’s directly caused to the vaccine.”

• Alabama-based physician Dr. Jordan Vaughn followed up with a chilling estimate—up to 15 million Americans may be suffering from long COVID or COVID vaccine injuries.

He now treats teenagers who can’t stand up and previously healthy adults who are suffering strokes with no clear cause.

• According to Vaughn, the spike protein’s S1 subunit is far from harmless. “It triggers inflammation, it disrupts endothelial barriers, it induces fibrin resistant to breakdown, and it promotes a lot of amyloid aggregates,” he said.

• These effects impair oxygen delivery, damage blood vessels, and trigger a wave of symptoms—racing heart, brain fog, shortness of breath, and post-exertional crashes.

• In his clinic, Vaughn uses immunofluorescent microscopy to detect the spike protein’s damage, showing up in patients who were once thriving.

• He warned that the mRNA injections led to uncontrolled spike protein production, which spread throughout the body, reaching the heart, brain, ovaries, and testes.

• Regulators claimed the vaccine stayed in the arm. That was a lie. A Yale study now shows some people are still producing spike protein more than 700 days after their last injection.

• We didn’t just inject people. We turned them into spike protein factories.

• OB-GYN Dr. James Thorp delivered one of the most haunting moments of the hearing.

He said the COVID shots “MIRRORED” the effects of chemical abortion drugs—and the government knew what it was doing.

• Dr. Thorp pointed to the now-infamous Shimabukuro study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, which claimed a 12.6% miscarriage rate following COVID vaccination.

But when you isolate the data for women vaccinated in the first trimester, the miscarriage rate rises to 82%, Dr. Thorp said. This 82% claim remains a topic of debate within the scientific community.

• If true, “This figure mirrors the effects of chemical abort drugs,” Dr. Thorp lamented.

• He added, “Recently, animal studies revealed the mRNA COVID vaccine causes the destruction of 60 PERCENT of the ovarian reserve in rats.”

05.21.2025 Excellent Read (who dumbed down the judges)

Supreme ConfusionJohn C. Eastman

Chaos reigned at the Court—and a dose of judicial supremacy to boot. 1/2

Attending oral argument last week in the case touching on birthright citizenship pending before the Supreme Court,I observed a combination of confusion, omissions, and outright lies from some of the justices. As the lawyer for one of the amici, I witnessed the Court address the propriety of the nationwide, universal injunctions that have been issued by several district court judges blocking the execution of President Trump’s day-one executive order on birthright citizenship.

Let’s begin with the lies.

Early in the argument, Justice Sotomayor unequivocally stated that the Court had held 127 years ago that anyone born on U.S. soil is a citizen, and repeated that holding in three other cases since. That is false.

The Supreme Court has never held that the children born on U.S. soil to temporary visitors or illegal aliens are citizens. The Wong Kim Ark case to which she was referring explicitly dealt only with a child born to parents who were lawfully and permanently domiciled in the United States—and the word “domicile” or one of its derivatives was repeated nearly 30 times throughout that opinion. Any language in the opinion beyond that is not part of the holding, but is rather non-binding dicta. The same is true with the passing references in the three other cases she cited—they are pure dicta. So her claim that the Court has already issued holdings that are contrary to the president’s executive order is simply untrue.

Several legal scholars have recently made the same claims, and Justice Sotomayor may have been parroting them. Yet until President Trump raised the issue in his first campaign for the presidency, almost all legal scholars writing in this area candidly acknowledged that Wong Kim Ark did not settle the question. Such is the hostility to all things Trump that the prior honest assessments have given way to a certitude that is simply not accurate.

Now for the confusion. Justice Kavanaugh queried U.S. Solicitor General John Sauer whether excluding from birthright citizenship the children born to temporary visitors or those illegally present in the United States would be unworkable. “What are the hospitals to do,” he asked, or the states when registering vital statistics about births? Apparently Justice Kavanaugh is unaware that most countries in the world, including almost all the countries we once described as “First World,” don’t seem to have any difficulty noting on a birth certificate whether the parents were citizens or merely visitors at the time of birth.

And he is apparently likewise unaware that until 1966, the application for an American passport, which could only be obtained by citizens, similarly inquired about the status of one’s parents at birth.Justice Kavanaugh’s treatment of this as an insurmountable problem is simply not compatible with the practice in the rest of the world, or even by our own government for a full century after the adoption of the Citizenship Clause of the 14th Amendment.

Then there is the omission. I was quitefrankly surprised that none of the justices asked about a foundational requirement for preliminary injunctions. Long-standing black letter law requires that one must have an irreparable injury in order to obtain interim relief== by way of a temporary restraining order or a preliminary injunction. Granted, that requirement goes to the validity of any preliminary injunction, not merely the universal injunctions that were the topic of the day. But it seems to me that the broader issue necessarily falls if even a narrow injunction could not be sustained.

So what is “irreparable” injury? It is an injury that cannot be remedied after the fact. It almost never includes things for which money damages (plus interest) can make the person whole. Take the typical wrongful discharge employment case. Preliminary relief is almost never permitted, because if the claimant succeeds, back pay with interest would fully compensate him. The asserted injuries are therefore not irreparable.

So too with the birthright citizenship cases. If, as Justices Sotomayor, Kagan, and Jackson expressed with such certainty, the plaintiffs will ultimately prevail, the remedy would be that their citizenship be recognized. If, in the interim, they lost out on some welfare benefits that are available only to citizens, retroactive payment of those benefits (with interest) would make them whole. Therefore, in neither case is the harm “irreparable.” Basic injunction law 101 indicates that any preliminary injunction, not just a universal one, is not proper.

One can imagine an irreparable injury that might arise if the government moved to deport the illegally present parents and their not-yet-recognized-as-citizens children, but such speculative future harms are also not proper grounds for a preliminary injunction until the harm becomes imminent. At that point—and only at that point—would a preliminary injunction or temporary restraining order be proper. But no such harm has been alleged, or is evident, in the cases as they presently stand.

Finally, there was a strong whiff of judicial supremacy evident in some of the questions. Justice Barrett, for example, asked whether a ruling by a court of appeals—say, the Second Circuit in New York—would bind the government in their dealings with individuals who were not parties in a particular case. Solicitor General Sauer, quite appropriately, would not give the definitive answer she was seeking. One suspects that was because he recognized that such an answer would replace judicial review in particular cases with judicial supremacy.

His intuition on that score finds fulsome support in the views of several notable former presidents, including Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Jackson, and Thomas Jefferson. Here’s what Lincoln said about it in the context of the Supreme Court’s Dred Scott decision, one of the most notorious—and notoriously wrong—decisions ever issued by the Court. He agreed that the decision was binding on the parties in that case, but added that if we were to allow “the decision to stand as settling the law for all time, we should, to that extent, cease to be our own rulers, having practically resigned our Government into the hands of that [dripping with irony] eminent tribunal.”

Lincoln’s view reflected the basic constitutional premise that the judiciary is but one of three co-equal branches. Just as an erroneous view of birthright citizenship has seeped into our political psyche,so too has an erroneous view of judicial supremacy. We should applaud President Trump and those in his administration who are pressing to restore the original meaning of the Constitution on these questions.

Question: Did Justice Roberts dumb down all the 6 other judges, how did Thomas and Alito maintain their understanding of the law in that chaotic mess of questions by the others. It must be so irritating to listen too.
