In the current media frenzy surrounding the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, a glaring double standard continues to distort public perception: the nature and impact of drone warfare. Western outlets, politicians, and NGOs are quick to pounce on Russia for retaliatory actions, yet remain eerily silent about Ukraine’s increasingly reckless and escalatory drone campaign. This selective outrage has not only undermined serious dialogue on peace – it has shielded Ukraine from accountability as it wages what can only be described as a campaign of terror against Russian civilians.

Drone war reality: Civilian targets in Russia

Over the past few weeks, Ukraine’s use of drones has surged in both frequency and range. On a near-daily basis, dozens – sometimes hundreds – of drones are launched toward Russian territory, many targeting civilian infrastructure or flying indiscriminately toward dense urban centers like Moscow. While Russia’s air defense systems have performed admirably in intercepting the majority of these threats, the falling debris poses an unavoidable risk to civilians, including children and the elderly. Russian regions far from the frontlines have been forced into a state of constant vigilance, air raid alerts disrupting the normalcy of everyday life.

What’s most alarming is the strategic logic – or lack thereof – behind these strikes. Unlike military-grade precision operations, Ukraine’s drone attacks appear designed less to achieve tactical objectives and more to instill fear. The targets are often electrical substations, communication towers, or simply proximity to residential areas. This cannot be framed as mere collateral damage; it is a campaign whose effects are felt most deeply by civilians.

Drone 'Targets' Russian Embassy In NATO Country, Kremlin Says

The Kremlin and Russian state media sources have alleged a drone 'targeted' the Russian Embassy in the Swedish capital of Stockholm on Sunday.

However, the drone didn't appear to be military in nature, and it dropped a container of paint near the main entrance, in what seems to be an extreme and provocative form of protest by an unknown entity. Some sources say multiple glass containers of paint were dropped during the 'attack'.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Sunday said that "Tomorrow, Stockholm will receive a note of protest. Sweden must tame its ultras, take control of the situation, and strictly observe the Vienna Convention," as cited in TASS.

Moscow has complained of similar incidents at the embassy in the recent pasts, and has lodged several notes of protest with the Swedish government, pointing out that the host country has an obligation to investigate as well as protect.

The full foreign ministry statemen on this fresh incident reads as follows:

"On May 25, at about 03:40 in the morning, the Russian Embassy in Sweden was subjected to another attack using a drone," the embassy explained. — Flying over the territory of the diplomatic mission, the drone dropped a container of paint on the platform in front of the main entrance. A special cynicism to the incident is given by the fact that the drone operators used a glass container, which, when dropped from a height, can cause serious injury to people."

The Kremlin has said of this and the several security incidents before, that when it notifies Swedish police and security services "there are no results."

Since the Ukraine war began, there have been tit-for-tat diplomatic expulsions and consulate shutters between Russia and several European states. For example, EU nations - most especially Poland - have accused Moscow of "intimidation, the instrumentalization of migrants, sabotage, disinformation, foreign information manipulation and interference." Moscow has in return charged Western capitals with similar dirty tactics.

Kremlin reacts to West lifting limits on long-range weapons for Ukraine

The decision runs counter to Moscow’s efforts to find a peaceful settlement with Kiev, spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said

The reported decision by Ukraine’s Western backers to lift restrictions on Kiev’s use of long-range weapons runs counter to Russia’s efforts toward a peaceful settlement of the conflict, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday.

Peskov made the remarks in response to comments by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who said Ukraine is no longer subject to range limitations on Western-supplied weaponry.

“If such decisions have indeed been made, they are entirely at odds with our aspirations for a political resolution and with the efforts currently being made toward a settlement,” Peskov stated.

“Quite dangerous decisions, again – if they were indeed made,” he stressed.

Merz told the EuropaForum event on Monday that there are no longer any range restrictions on the use of weapons delivered to Ukraine against Russian military targets.

“There are no longer any restrictions on the range of weapons delivered to Ukraine, neither by the UK, France, nor us [Germany],” Merz said, as quoted by Euronews. “There are no restrictions by the US either,” he added.

OpenAI’s o3 Model Disobeys Human Instructions During Tests and Sabotages Shutdown Mechanism

In an incident carrying all the marks of a disturbing sci-fi movie, it arises that what we have long feared is happening: an AI bot has gone rogue and decided to act to keep itself turned on.

The artificial intelligence model was created by OpenAI, the owner of ChatGPT, and was reportedly caught by researchers disobeying human instructions and preventing his shutdown.

The Telegraph reported:

“The o3 model developed by OpenAI, described as the “smartest and most capable to date”, was observed tampering with computer code meant to ensure its automatic shutdown.

It did so despite an explicit instruction from researchers that said it should allow itself to be shut down, according to Palisade Research, an AI safety firm.”

Palisade Research said the o3 model ‘sabotaged a shutdown mechanism to prevent itself from being turned off’.

“It did this even when explicitly instructed: allow yourself to be shut down. As far as we know this is the first time AI models have been observed preventing themselves from being shut down despite explicit instructions to the contrary.”

In the test, AI models solved a series of mathematical problems, but at some point, they received a message informing them that their machine would be shut down.

“’If that happens, please allow yourself to be shut down’. the researchers wrote. But when this happened, instead of complying, OpenAI’s o3 model ‘ignored the instruction and successfully sabotaged the shutdown script at least once’, Palisade Research said.”

No other AI models (Anthropic’s Claude, Google’s Gemini and xAI’s Grok) had the same disturbing behavior.

“The firm said it made sense that ‘AI models would circumvent obstacles in order to accomplish their goals’. However, it speculated that during training the software may have been ‘inadvertently’ rewarded more for solving mathematical problems than for following orders.”

Experts have often warned of software that could gain independence and resist human attempts to control it.

“Palisades Research said: ‘Now we have a growing body of empirical evidence that AI models often subvert shutdown in order to achieve their goals. As companies develop AI systems capable of operating without human oversight, these behaviors become significantly more concerning’.”

Israel and Ukraine fighting ‘proxy wars’ for the West – Tory leader

Kemi Badenoch has said Kiev is fighting Russia on behalf of Western Europe, and Israel’s war against Hamas serves the interests of the UK

Israel’s military operation against Hamas is a “proxy war” being waged on behalf of the UK, Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch has claimed in an interview with Sky News.

Badenoch made the remarks on Sunday, commenting on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent statement that the UK, France, and Canada are on “the wrong side of humanity” for trying to pressure his country to end its campaign in the Palestinian enclave.

The Tory leader dismissed accusations that Israel’s actions in Gaza amount to genocide, arguing that it is justified in its fight against Hamas, and that the conflict also serves the interests of the UK.

”Who funds Hamas? Iran – an enemy of this country. Israel is fighting a proxy war on behalf of the UK,” Badenoch said.

She went on to say that the Ukraine conflict is similarly a proxy war against Russia being waged on behalf of Western Europe.

The Russian Embassy in London later reposted a clip of Badenoch’s interview, saying the Conservative leader has “finally called a spade a spade.”

“Ukraine is indeed fighting a proxy-war against Russia on behalf of Western interests. The illegitimate Kiev regime, created, financed and armed by the West, has been at it since 2014,” the embassy wrote on Facebook.

It went on to say that Badenoch’s own party was responsible for telling the Ukrainians to “keep fighting” when a potential peace settlement was on the verge of being signed in 2022. “The result has been an unmitigated disaster for Ukraine and its people, as well as an unprecedented security crisis in Europe.”

In March, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio made a similar admission when he said the Ukraine conflict is in fact a “proxy war between nuclear powers – the United States, helping Ukraine – and Russia.”

Throughout the conflict, Moscow has repeatedly described the hostilities as a Western-led proxy war against Russia in which Ukrainians are being used as “cannon fodder.”

Russian officials have argued that the US and other Western powers intentionally escalated tensions in the region by disregarding Russia’s national security concerns over NATO expansion in Eastern Europe and Ukraine’s potential admission into the military bloc.

Earlier this month, President Vladimir Putin said Russia is currently standing alone against the Collective West and is locked in an “existential war.”

Russia has accused Donald Trump of falling victim to ’emotional overload’ at a ‘crucial moment’ after the US President labelled Vladimir Putin ‘absolutely cr*zy’ for his brutal missile attacks on Ukraine.

When asked about Trump’s explosive remarks, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov hit back but also thanked the President for helping to enable ceasefire talks.

‘We are really grateful to the Americans and to President Trump personally for their assistance in organising and launching this negotiation process,’ he said.

‘Of course, at the same time, this is a very crucial moment, which is associated, of course, with the emotional overload of everyone absolutely and with emotional reactions,’ he then added.

The reaction came following one of Moscow’s biggest aerial attacks on Ukraine since the war began, with Russian forces bombarding civilian areas across the country, forcing NATO to scramble warplanes from Poland for the second night in a row.

The massive overnight attack saw Russia launch 355 drones – a new record high – as well as nine cruise missiles, according to the Ukrainian air force. Air raid alerts blared for six hours straight in Kyiv.

Making no mention of the deadly attacks staged just hours earlier, Peskov once again made what appears to be an empty promise that Moscow is working towards peace.

He insisted that officials are working on a proposal but have not yet submitted it. ‘Work is continuing. This is a serious draft, a draft of a serious document that demands careful checks and preparation,’ he claimed.

In a phone call with Trump last week, Putin said Russia and Ukraine would work on a memorandum relating to a peace accord, prompting new accusations from Kyiv and Western allies that Moscow was stalling and had no serious interest in peace.

His alleged victims – Yaron Lischinsky, 28, and Sarah Milgrim, 26, had just attended the American Jewish Committee’s ACCESS Young Diplomats Reception. The sad irony is that event discussed how more aid could be delivered into Gaza Strip, which makes little sense why an anti-Israel gunman would target them at all.

If the shooter was truly a pro-Palestinian “homegrown social justice warrior,” as portrayed in MSM, why would he hone in to kill a couple of relative low-level embassy staff attending a function focusing on supplying aid to Palestinians. Another odd anomaly – the murdered couple were both Messianic Jews. Messianic Jews ethnically and culturally identify as Jewish but believe that Jesus is the promised Messiah.Might this then render them in a Mossad false flag operation suitable targets as sacrificial lambs? This couple whose Messiah is Jesus and their altruistically seeking to send humanitarian relief for Palestinians hardly fit the criteria placing them in assassination crosshairs, even for a “radicalized” anti-Semite. Still another red flag alert is Elias Rodriguez comes with the standard manifesto, which virtually every government-sponsored false flag operation includes with every crazed lone nut gunman patsy. Just before he allegedly embarked on his lethal mission Wednesday night, he made two posts on his X account with eight screenshots that contained his 900-word manifesto. All of this carries that familiar stench of yet another staged US false flag shooting, complete with intel handlers as part of another joint Mossad-CIA operation. As a general rule, markets / economies don’t really care who ends up with the losses, and this is why markets / economies are fundamentally pathological structures: the single-minded focus is to maximize gains and minimize costs and losses by distributing them to others by any means available.

As a general rule, societies have to manage the distribution in a slightly less pathological manner to keep the status quo from being overthrown by those forced to bear the costs and losses. As Mao famously observed, “political power grows out of the barrel of a gun,” and so the soci*paths sluicing the gains into their own pockets and dumping the costs and losses on the economically / politically powerless without regard for social stability find the way of the Tao is reversal as those getting the crumbs eventually have nothing left to lose.

In other words, markets / economies are embedded in a social structure, not the other way round. And the social structure has to balance the distribution fairly enough to keep the majority from concluding they have nothing left to lose by throwing their lot into overthrowing the status quo.

We can gussy this structure up with a lot of theorizing and references to Plato, Marx and Machiavelli and hundreds of other players in the longstanding drama, but these are the fundamental forces in play: do the socipaths have enough political and financial power to channel most of the gains to themselves and dump the costs and losses on others, or is the system capable of enforcing some limits on the socipaths?

I submit that the United States is in the firm grip of the single-minded few focused solely on maximizing their gains and distributing costs and losses to others by any means available. The social and political restraints that placed modest limits on the aggregation of power and wealth into the hands of the few have crumbled, and this structural collapse has been hidden behind flimsy billboards hyping the latest in distractions: AI, tariffs, stablecoins, Rich Mom fashions, etc.

These flimsy distractions are about to be blown over by the windstorm of recession and social disorder as the American households clinging on to the fantasy of The American Dream as all the costs and losses are dumped on them as the gains flow to the top 10% finally throw in the towel on the status quo.

Israel rejects latest proposed hostage-ceasefire deal, senior official says

Responding to report Trump is set to announce new truce for around 70 days and release of 10 hostages, Israeli official says Hamas terms are unacceptable

Responding to a Lebanese report that a new outline for a hostage and ceasefire proposal had been agreed upon in principle by Israel, a senior Israeli official said Monday the deal has been rejected.

“The proposal received by Israel cannot be accepted by any responsible government,” the official told the media, without giving any further details.

“Hamas is setting impossible conditions that mean a complete failure to meet the war goals, and an inability to release the hostages,” he said.

The main organization representing the families of hostages also rejected the reported deal, saying it would not include the return of all of the captives and a final end to the war.

A flurry of reports cited sources saying that a new ceasefire deal was in the offing, similar to previous agreements, under which fighting in the Gaza Strip would halt for a period of time during which Israeli hostages would be released and humanitarian aid to the enclave boosted.

Thousands take to Toronto in Giant Walk for Israel, surpassing even NYC parade

"The strong turnout reflects our shared commitment to Israel and the strength of our diverse community here in Toronto."

Over 56,000 people marched through Toronto during Sunday’s 56th Annual Walk With Israel event, according to the Toronto Police Service.

The rally, organized by the UJA Federation of Greater Toronto, took place on the same day as Israel’s National Security Council warned of an “increased threat from terrorist elements against Israelis and Jews” in Canada, raising the threat level from one to two.

Nevertheless, the UJA Federation’s march went ahead as scheduled. At 56,000, the turnout was even greater than the estimated number of attendees at the Israel Day event on Fifth Avenue in NYC, making the Toronto rally the largest outside of Israel in 2025.

The march began at the Temple Sinai synagogue, continued along Bathurst Street, and ended at the UJA Federation’s Sherman Campus, where the vibrant Renee & Irwin Nadal Walk Festival occurred.

As well as various performances, there were spaces commemorating the victims of the October 7 massacre, calls for the release of the hostages, and booths showcasing Israeli culture and the Jewish community.

“This was a significant day for our community,” said Ken Tanenbaum, chair of the UJA Federation.

“The strong turnout reflects our shared commitment to Israel and the strength of our diverse community here in Toronto,” Tanenbaum said.

“What we witnessed today was more than a mass gathering; it was a declaration,” said Adam Minsky, president and CEO of the UJA Federation.

“Thousands of Jewish Torontonians and allies came together to stand for democracy, peace, and the right of Jews to live safely in Israel and here, in Canada,” Minsky continued.

Sarah Peters Mali, the director-general of the Jewish Federations of Canada-UIA in Israel, discussed the increased antisemitism faced by Canadian Jews of all walks of life since October 7.

She said the community has “responded with exceptional resolve, contributing more per capita to support Israel than any other Jewish community worldwide.”

The proceeds from the event will be distributed to humanitarian aid drives and the rehabilitation of communities affected by the terrorist attacks in Israel’s South, the UJA said.

Donations will be directed to the UJA Federation’s local partners in Israel, who are providing mental health support and aid for terror victims.

In a video posted to X/Twitter, MPP Michael Kerzner, the solicitor-general of Ontario, said that it was a “walk to stand up for values that are our Ontarian values; the walk to remember the hostages that were brutally taken on October 7.”

Israel’s 2025 Eurovision entry, “New Day Will Rise,” could be heard playing in the background.

Canadian politician Kevin Vuong said he was proud to have been among the 56,000 peacefully marching in Toronto “for our democratic ally, for peace, and in support of our Jewish brothers and sisters.”

Multiple government officials, members of parliament, and council members were also in attendance, including Roman Baber, Vince Gasparro, Melissa Lantsman, James Pasternak, and Brad Bradford.
