It's #NationalPaperAirplaneDay.
Aviation pioneer Ralph Barnaby joined the Naval Reserve Flying Corps during WWI and later earned the first soaring license in the U.S. (signed by Orville Wright). In 1930, he became the first person to descend by glider from an airship when the USS Los Angeles (ZR-3) dropped him from an altitude of 3,000 feet. To keep from being bored in retirement, he added to his list of accomplishments in 1967 when at the age of 74 he beat 10,000 other entrants to win the aerobatic category at the First International Paper Airplane Competition.
