Today is World Dracula Day.
Count Dracula was the name of Admiral Franz von Hipper's barge that was salvaged by the Royal Navy when the battlecruiser SMS Hindenburg was scuttled in 1919. The boat had been sold into private hands when it was requisitioned to help evacuate Dunkirk in 1940, shuttling more than 700 men to safety. Count Dracula still survives but is in desperate need of restoration.
