Why Didn't The Greenwich RTC Observe Memorial Day?
But this year things were a bit different.
The Greenwich Democrats invited folks to march in the Memorial Day parade in Old Greenwich, but the Republicans said nothing.
The RTC's email on Memorial Day was titled, "Power-Grab Housing Bill Moving Through Hartford" which, as you might have guessed, was all about the "eleventh-hour Frankenstein bill" cooked up by scheming Democrats in Hartford last week. The email also included an invitation to join the RTC at the next meeting in Town Hall on May 28th at 8pm.
The email didn't make a single mention of Memorial Day – not even a graphic to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice to afford us our freedoms.
I responded to the email, shocked that the RTC declined to put out a message to remember the fallen on Memorial Day, and that it instead put out a message on a housing bill.
I was told by the RTC chair, who has publicly questioned Greenwich Patriots, to "learn my facts" because the "membership" had "passed" on Memorial Day. Additionally, the poor timing of the message about the "power-grab housing bill" was passed off as just being on a "timer" by their bulk email provider.
The snarky response left me feeling even more disappointed.
Nonetheless, I took the advice of the RTC chair, and asked my RTC friends for the "facts" about whether the membership had, in fact, decided to take a "pass" on Memorial Day.
I was stunned to learn that indeed a survey had been sent a survey asking if members wanted to remember and honor deceased service men and women on Memorial Day and apparently the decision was actually made to snub our fallen heroes!!
