Kremlin warns of potential German-led ‘escalation’

Berlin’s possible shift on Ukraine’s use of long-range weapons would undermine peace efforts, spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said

Moscow considers Berlin’s potential shift on Ukraine’s use of German long-range weapons against Russia as a sign of “serious escalation,”Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned on Tuesday.

His comments came in response to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s declaration on Monday that there are now “no more range restrictions” on Western-supplied weapons used by Kiev against Russian military targets.

“If this is true, then this is an escalation and a serious escalation, which most severely undermines attempts for a peaceful settlement that have been made,” Peskov said, referring to the first direct peace talks in three years between Russia and Ukraine earlier this month.

Merz said on Monday that missiles from the UK, France, Germany, and the US could now be used without geographic limits against Russian military targets. His remarks sparked confusion over whether he was announcing a new policy and drew concern from within his own coalition. German Vice Chancellor and Finance MinisterLars Klingbeil said no new decisions had been made on the range of Ukrainian strikes using German weapons beyond those set by the previous government.

Ralf Stegner, a member of Merz’s coalition partner, the SPD,called the comments “unhelpful” and called for a stronger focus on diplomacy.

Merz later clarified that the decision to lift restrictions on Western arms used by Ukraine had been made months ago, further confusing the public and reigniting debate over the possible delivery of German Taurus cruise missiles to Kiev. With a range of up to 500 kilometers, the missiles could strike deep inside Russian territory, including the Russian capital.Moscow has warned that supplying such weapons would make Germany a direct party to the conflict.

Peskov noted thatany change in Ukraine’s use of Western-supplied weapons must be officially approved and coordinated with the USdue to the integrated nature of defense components.

“Any European weapon has American-made spare parts. And according to the rules of military-technical cooperation, permission to use a French missile with American chips embedded in it must be given,” he said.

According to Peskov, Merz’s remarks signal a lack of serious interest among EU states in resolving the Ukraine conflict through diplomacy.

“We see that the Europeans do not want peace. The Europeans are intent on further increasing pressure on Russia. They still dream that something can be achieved from Russia by pressure, not by willingness to listen. This is probably the biggest utopia that can be imagined on the European continent.”

(The worst part is all western media in the U.S. are cementing the lies that it’s Russia dropping bombs. Fox, Newsmax etc are reporting it Russia is attacking, civilian areas (they don’t), when Ukraine initiate many more bombings on Russia and civilians. None in of the news here are knowingly lying. How can Russia ever be heard by Trump if he believes Putin is going crazy. This makes me wonder if the DOD and Hegseth with other military agencies with the ability to see what both sides are doing, are not reporting the truth to Trump. They have satellites that see everything, who is covering or lying to escalate this war?)

Kiev’s actions harming peace process – Kremlin

Ukraine has significantly ramped up strikes on Russian territory in recent days

The recent rise in the number of Ukrainian attacks on Russian soil is detrimental to the ongoing efforts to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict between the two countries, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has said.

Over the past week alone, Russian air defenses havedowned 1,465 Ukrainian drones over territories outside the active conflict zone, the Defense Ministry in Moscow reported on Tuesday.

“At the very least, we can say that these actions by Kiev… are clearly at odds with the pursuit of the peace process,” Peskov told a press briefing that same day. “Of course we condemn these actions,” he said, adding that they “do not contribute to the advancement of the peace process.”

The Russian Defense Ministry stated on Tuesday that the “Kiev regime, supported by certain European countries, has taken a number of provocative steps aimed at disrupting the negotiation process,” which was initiated by Moscow earlier in May.

According to the ministry, there has been a spike in Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory involving drones as well as Western-made missiles. Military officials in Moscow estimated that between May 20 and May 27, air defense systems interceptedmore than 2,300 Ukrainian UAVs, most of them operating outside frontline areas.

The ministry added that Russian forces retaliated with high-precision missile anddrone strikes aimed “exclusively at Ukraine’s military and defense industrial facilities.”

The developments followed last week’s telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putinand his US counterpart, Donald Trump, which both leaders characterized as productive.

Earlier this month, Russia and Ukraine held their first direct talks since 2022 in Istanbul, Türkiye. The two sides agreed on a record prisoner swap and discussed a follow-up meeting. As part of the ongoing diplomatic process, Moscow has said it is working on a memorandum for settling the conflict, which will be presented to Kiev in the near future. It is expected to include Moscow’s key terms for a potential ceasefire, conflict settlement, and a timeline for an eventual peace agreement.

(This accelerated after Trump spoke with Putin, and when Trump spoke with Zelensky. Its obvious what is happening.)

Europe once again rallying under Nazi flag against Russia – Lavrov

The top diplomat has hit out at Ukraine’s EU backers over their renewed push to inflict a strategic defeat on Moscow

The EU has failed to learn the lessons of history by once again gathering under a Nazi flag to attempt to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday.

Lavrov was responding to remarks by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who on Monday declared there were “no more range limitations”for weapons sent to Ukraine by the West, including Germany.Merz has also vowed to turn the German military into Europe’s strongest conventional force.(are the allowed to have armies, isn’t that why the U.S. has been protecting them for years?)

“Europe has once again found itself a Nazi flag by committing to a completely misguided, disastrous venture of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia,” Lavrov stated.

To hear from the current German leader that Germany will regain its position as the leading military power in Europe, just after we have celebrated the 80th anniversary of the defeat of Hitler’s Nazism,is quite symptomatic. History, apparently, taught these people nothing.”

Merz’s remarks on long-range weapons drew concern even within his own coalition. German Vice Chancellor andFinance Minister Lars Klingbeil told reporters shortly after the chancellor’s statement that no agreements had been reached regarding the range of Ukrainian strikesusing German weapons on Russian territory beyond what the previous government had in place. Lavrov saidMerz’s confused and uninformed position “reflects the level of competence of modern European leaders.”

While Germany has not supplied long-range weapons to Ukraine, Merz’s comments have stirred speculation about a possible policy shift, particularly regarding the delivery of Taurus cruise missiles. Former Chancellor Olaf Scholz consistently rejected the idea, warning it would dangerously escalate the conflict.

Lavrov also addressed remarks by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, who on Monday claimed France is not at war with Russia.

=“He’s not telling the truth. France is fighting against Russia because its long-range missilesare being used by the Nazi regime in Kiev to attack the territory of the Russian Federation. And these are mainly attacks on civilian targets,”Lavrov said.

He stressed that the only path to ending the Ukraine conflict lies in halting Europe’s militaristic course.

The main thing here… is to ensure that Europe stops sabotaging the movement towards peace, which is supported by both the United States and Türkiye, and to which the Russian Federation is fully committed,” Lavrov said.

Russia requests UN meeting on ‘threats’ by Ukraine’s backers

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz earlier said Kiev is not bound by range restrictions on weapons supplied to the country

Russia has requested a UN Security Council meeting to address what it sees asattempts by EU countries to derail the peaceful settlement of the Ukraine conflict, Dmitry Polyansky, Moscow's first deputy permanent representative to the UN, has said.

The announcement came after Germany said Ukraine has been permitted to strike targets deep into Russian territory using Western-supplied weapons.

In a statement on Telegram on Tuesday, Polyansky said the session is expected to take place at 10am New York time (14:00 GMT) on Friday, andwill focus on “threats to international peace” posed by Kiev’s backers.

According to Polyansky, the session is a mirror response to a similar meeting requested by “the European sponsors of the Kiev regime on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine,” scheduled for the day before.

The diplomat suggested that Kiev’s backers convened their meeting because they have grown impatient waiting for results from the Russia-Ukraine talks in Istanbul and for a reaction from US President Donald Trump, who has positioned himself as a key mediator in the conflict.“They feel it is important to them to keep the Ukrainian topic afloat at the Security Council, even at the risk of misjudging the tone favored by the new US administration,”Polyansky said.

The move came after Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Germany and its allies no longer have range restrictions in place on weapons provided to Ukraine, adding that the decision was made months ago.

However, German Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil appeared to dispute Merz’s statement, saying, “There is no new agreement that goes beyond what the previous government has done.”

The previous German government, led by Olaf Scholz, opposed the delivery of long-range systems, as well as long-range strikes deep into Russia using Western-supplied weapons, due to concerns that the moves could result in an escalation of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Moscow has long criticized Western weapons deliveries to Ukraine, saying they only prolong the conflict without changing the outcome. On Tuesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said continued military assistance to Kiev by NATO countriesrepresents “indirect participation in the war against Russia,” which “does not contribute to a peaceful settlement.”

Earlier this month, Russia and Ukraine held their first direct peace talks since 2022, in which the sides agreed to a record prisoner swap. Moscow also pledged to hand over a memorandum for resolving the conflict to Kiev, which will include its key terms for a potential ceasefire, conflict settlement, and a timeline for an eventual peace agreement.

SCOTUS Refuses To Protect Minor's Free Speech RightsMay 27, 2025

Shawn Fleetwood

Supreme Court JusticesSamuel Alito and Clarence Thomas were left stunnedon Tuesday after their colleaguesrefused to take up a caseinvolving a Massachusetts middle schooler who was reprimanded in school for wearing a shirt acknowledging biological reality.

As part of its newly released order list, the nation’s highest court declined to hear arguments in L.M. v. Town of Middleborough. The case involves Middleborough, Massachusetts, youth Liam Morrison, who in March 2023 wore a T-shirt that reads, “There Are Only Two Genders” to Nichols Middle School.

As The Federalist previously reported, Morrison — who was in seventh grade at the time — “was pulled from class by acting Principal Heather Tucker, who ordered Morrison to remove the shirt. After Morrison declined to do so, Tucker allegedly said he would not be permitted to return to class until he removed the shirt, prompting the seventh grader to leave school for the day.” This prompted Morrison to instead wear a shirt that reads, “There Are Censored Genders,” which school administrators also prohibited him from wearing.

Morrison’s father and stepmother filed a lawsuit on Liam’s behalf, in which they argued, in part, that the school’s actions violated Liam’s First Amendment right to free speech. A federal district court judge and the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals denied plaintiffs relief in the case, leading the latter to ask SCOTUS to take up the matter.

While Supreme Court rules require at least four justices to agree to hear a case before it can be considered by the full court,Alito and Thomas are the only named justices on Tuesday’s order list as those who would have granted Morrison’s petition.

The high court’s refusal to defend Morrison’s First Amendment rights sparked a scathing dissent from Alito, in which Thomas joined.

At the outset, the George W. Bush appointee highlighted Nichols Middle School’s apparent participation in “viewpoint discrimination,” in which school administrators appear to treat students’ views differently based on whether they find such beliefs to be favorable. He specifically noted, “Inside and outside the classroom, NMS promotes the view that gender is a fluid construct and that a person’s self-defined identity — not biological sex — determines whether that person is male, female, or something else” and “also encourages students to embrace and express this viewpoint, including during the school’s ‘PRIDE Spirit Week.'”

After detailing the remaining facts of the case, Alitowent on to underscore the need for SCOTUS to “reaffirm the bedrock principlethat a school may not engage in viewpoint discrimination when it regulates student speech.”

He further chastised the 1st Circuit for “cherry-picking which First Amendment principles it thought worthy of allowing through the schoolhouse gates.” (Thomas echoed a similar point in his short dissent, noting how the 1st Circuit “distorted this Court’s First Amendment case law in significant ways that warrant this Court’s review.”)

“By limiting the application of our viewpoint-discrimination cases, the decision belowrobs a great many students of that core First Amendment protection,” Alito wrote.

In justifying his reasoning for granting relief in the case,Alito also noted the importance of the Supreme Court “determin[ing]” whether the 1st Circuit “properly understood the rule adopted” in a prior SCOTUS case “regarding the suppression of student speech on the ground that it presents a risk of material disruption.”

“So long as the First Circuit’s opinion is on the books, thousands of students will attend school without the full panoply of First Amendment rights. That alone is worth this Court’s attention” Alito wrote. “The problem, however, runs deeper: as this case makes clear, some lower courts are confused on how to manage the tension between students’ rights and schools’ obligations. Our Nation’s students, teachers, and administrators deserve clarity on this critically important question. Because the Court has instead decided to let the confusion linger, I respectfully dissent.”

The high court’s refusal to consider the Morrison case isn’t the first time a majority of justices have displayed cowardice on upholding Americans’ First Amendment rights.

A notable (and recent) example is the Masterpiece Cakeshop incident, in which Colorado cake artist Jack Phillips was sued for declining to create a wedding cake for a same-sex couple due to his Christian beliefs. As The Federalist’s Joy Pullmann previously noted, while the Supreme Court “ruled in Phillips’ favor” in 2018, it offered “such a narrow ruling as to allow a venomous transgender activist to immediately haul him back into court after speciously demanding that Phillips bake a transgender celebration cake.”

“The Supreme Court allowed this unconstitutional and anti-freedom regime to proliferate while pretending to check it with weak and ineffectual action,” Pullmann wrote.

(This is further proof the SC has been totally corrupted from within, this is not good.)

NPR Is Under The Delusion It Has A Constitutional Right To Your Money

BY: BRIANNA LYMAN

MAY 27, 2025

NPR filed a delusional lawsuit on Tuesday against the Trump administration, arguing that it has a constitutional right to your hard-earned money.

The suit, brought by NPR and three Colorado-based public radio stations, alleges that Trump’s executive order cutting federal funding to the left-wing NPR and PBSviolates their right to free speech, as well as provisions of the Public Broadcasting Act.

“The [Executive] Order’s objectives could not be clearer: the Order aims to punish NPR for the content of news and other programming the President dislikes and chill the free exercise of First Amendment rights by NPR and individual public radios across the country,” the suit states.

But as Texas Rep. Brandon Gill countered in a post on X:“NPR has a right to free speech. It doesn’t have a right to our tax dollars.”

Trump issued an executive order earlier this month directing the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to “cease federal funding” to NPR and PBS.

“Americans have the right to expect that if their tax dollars fund public broadcasting at all, they fund only fair, accurate, unbiased, and nonpartisan news coverage,” the order stated, with the White House adding that PBS and NPR “receive millions from taxpayers to spread radical, woke propaganda disguised as ‘news.’”

“No media outlet has a constitutional right to taxpayer subsidies, and the Government is entitled to determine which categories of activities to subsidize,” the order continues.

But NPR argues that it does have a right to your hard-earned dollars.

The suit argues the order is unconstitutional and violates the Public Broadcasting Act of 1967. That law established the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) to “‘facilitate the full development of public telecommunications in which programs of high quality’ and ‘creativity’ will be ‘obtained by diverse sources’” among other things. As stated in NPR’s lawsuit, the act explains “how the Corporation must allocate its general appropriation from Congress.” Twenty-five percent of the appropriation goes toward public radio, while 75 percent goes to public television.

According to the suit, “Congress has appropriated $535 million in general funding for the Corporation for Fiscal Years 2025, 2026, and 2027,” while NPR, in fiscal year 2024, spent roughly $11.1 million in total in grants from the CBP.

Trump “is exercising his lawful authority to limit funding to NPR and PBS,” White House spokesman Harrison Fields said in a statement. “The President was elected with a mandate to ensure efficient use of taxpayer dollars, and he will continue to use his lawful authority to achieve that objective.”

Despite NPR’s claim that it “ensures the integrity and high standards of its journalism through multiple, rigorous safeguards,”the outlet has a well-documented history of pushing a leftist agenda.

Notably, NPR refused to cover the Hunter Biden laptop scandal in the lead-up to the 2020 election.

“We don’t want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories, and we don’t want to waste the listeners’ and readers’ time on stories that are just pure distractions,” NPR Managing Editor for News Terence Samuel said in a statement back in October 2020. A newsletter published by NPR Public Editor Kelly McBride claimed that “there are many, many red flags in that New York Post investigation.”

As The Federalist’s Assignment Editor Elle Purnell noted,NPR “falsely claimed demonstrators outside the White House were tear-gassed by U.S. Park Police” in June 2020. “Park Police Tear Gas Peaceful Protesters To Clear Way For Trump Church Photo-Op,” one NPR headline stated. A Twitter post from NPR Politics similarly claimed: “Police in Washington, D.C. used tear gas and rubber bullets on peaceful protesters to clear them away from St. John’s Church, which suffered a small fire.” (The “small fire” was apparently an act of arson.)

But the supposedly “peaceful” protesters actually threw “projectiles including bricks, frozen water bottles and caustic liquids,” according to acting Park Police Chief Gregory T. Monahan. Monahan also stated Park Police did not use tear gas but rather smoke canisters — which, as noted by Purnell, “lack the irritant used in tear gas.”

In addition, NPR portrayed the Declaration of Independence as “offensive” on multiple occasions. “This story quotes the U.S. Declaration of Independence — a document that contains offensive language about Native Americans, including a racial slur,” read a July 8, 2022, “Editor’s note.”

NPR also apologized for calling illegal aliens “illegal.” “Sorry, that was a mistake,” NPR said, referencing a deleted tweet. “NPR’s policy is not to characterize people as ‘illegal.’ We slip up from time to time, but we’ll keep working hard to get it right.”

The idea that NPR is entitled — via the Constitution — to your bank account is risible and delusional.

Who is paying for this lawsuit, I hope it gets dragged out and in the end, they owe the Federal Government millions of dollars. That’s how stupid it is.
