Whatever it was started changing files on Brave and wound up breaking it. That's how I knew Sum Ting Wong. The rest was detective work and patient diagnosis.

Bottom line: Avoid Half if you can at least at the time being. Your luck maybe better, but it was an advanced, persistent threat in memory with filechanging behavior that didn't trip any anti-virus or defender flags. The fact that it could populate and wait in peripherals also sucked.
