Jill wanted the glitz and glamor of the WH.

She was jealous that the Second Lady (as VP) didn't get the same treatment.

She wanted all the dresses and parties and she needed Joe in as POTUS for that to happen.

It just so co-coincided with the fact that she had to run the show - more or less - with a limited group of people around her.

I don't think it was so much as 'power' in her case. Look at how she paraded herself around. "Glitz and Glamour" - hostess with the mostest

My question, is how much deep state money did she take to put her husband in that condition in the office of POTUS? You know she took cash somewhere.

@toddstarnes

The FBI is complaining because of all the copycat "86 47" threats being made against President Trump. Well, that's because James Comey was not arrested in a pre-dawn, guns-drawn raid. He wasn't paraded in front of the television cameras in handcuffs. And as a result, every anti-Trump lunatic in the country now feels emboldened. Good grief, FBI.

Autopen

The Autopen is the oldest, most commonly used signing machine. It has been used by universities, government agencies, and other institutions for more than 60 years. The Autopen machines provide high quality signature replication with any common pen, pencil, or marker. Their reliability is well established and the simple design combined with our telephone support results in minimum service costs.

The basic machine can be used for signing certificates, correspondence, photographs, and posters, almost anything up to 1/4 inch thick. Factory modifications can be incorporated for signing books and sports memorabilia.

The Autopen has long been a tool for the world’s most influential leaders, allowing them to more effectively apply their time and attention to important issues without compromising the impact of personalized correspondence.

These machines are very simple and easy to use. If desired, they can be special ordered to sign items such as books or athletic equipment.

The evolution of our manufacturing techniques has resulted in greater precision, allowing us to develop the Portable Tabletop unit (Autopen Model PT).

Autopens are used by thousands of organizations to personalize letters and certificates. The Autopen Model 80 is the most common Autopen used for general business and public service purposes, including office correspondence, direct mail materials, fundraising letters, diplomas, and awards. The signature/phrase can include icons or small drawings such as “smiley faces”, hearts, or Chinese symbols. The signature size is approximately one inch high by three inches long (also available in larger format).

Autopen Model PT is Portable

The Portable Table Top Autopen writes signature sizes identical to those produced by the Model 80, approximately one inch high by three inches long. However, the Model PT can be stored or moved easily and uses a smaller template for easier storage.

Autopen Template

The Plexiglas Autopen signature template (aka “matrix”) provides the actual signature. They are rugged and long lasting.

Obama Turns to Autopen to Keep Government Running

By Carol E. Lee

Nov. 17, 2011 6:16 pm ET

President Barack Obama will still be traveling overseas this weekend when time runs out to sign legislation to keep the government from shutting down, so he'll sign the bill remotely by invoking a little-used mechanism that allows the White House to mechanically affix his signature to documents, an administration official said.

The House on Thursday narrowly passed a bill to extend funding for the bulk of federal agencies through mid-December and set in place funding for a handful of them for the rest of the 2012 fiscal year, a move that is expected to be followed by the Senate. The deadline for signing the legislation to avoid a government shutdown is midnight on Saturday. But Mr. Obama will be in Bali, Indonesia, attending a summit of East Asian nations at that time. The White House could have shipped him the legislation, as is sometimes done, but there is little time.

Instead he'll sign it via autopen, a machine imprint of the president's signature that can be used at his direction. It will be only the second time in history that a president – Mr. Obama, in both cases – has used the option to sign legislation.

"At this time, the president is scheduled to arrive in D.C. on Sunday morning and the next CR will need to be signed by Saturday to continue normal government operations," the administration official said in an email, referring to the legislation known as a continuing resolution..

The autopen is not without controversy. Last May, Mr. Obama became the first president to use it to sign legislation when he extended several provisions of the Patriot Act that were set to expire while he was traveling in Europe. Some Republican lawmakers raised objections at the time

Obama's signature: Is it real or is it autopenned?

The Associated Press

Published Tuesday, June 28, 2011 8:48AM EDT

But the president couldn't get around explaining how the Patriot Act got signed into law without briefly shining a spotlight on the autopen. Once that news was out, though, the White House clammed up. It declined to provide any further details about how many autopens the administration uses, what they look like, where they're kept, or who makes the machine.

While traveling in Europe last month, Obama directed his staff in Washington to use an autopen to sign into law an extension of certain Patriot Act powers to fight terrorism. The legislation had been approved by Congress at the last minute, and there was no time to fly it to France for Obama's signature before the anti-terrorism powers expired.

It was believed to be the first time a president has used an autopen to sign legislation, and that didn't sit well with a number of Republicans. Twenty-one GOP House members sent Obama a letter on June 17 asking him to re-sign the legislation with his actual signature because use of the autopen "appears contrary to the Constitution."

Mr. Obama is the only president ever to use the mechanical device to sign legislation. The Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel in the administration of President George W. Bush decided that the use of the autopen was constitutional, although Mr. Bush never used it to mimic his signature on a bill.

The OLC said in 2005 that Article 1, Section 7 of the Constitution allows the president to use the autopen to sign legislation, stating “the president need not personally perform the physical act of affixing his signature to a bill to sign it.”

The validity of the autopen has never been tested in court, although Mr. Obama has used the autopen twice previously to sign legislation. The first was in May 2011, when he signed an extension of the Patriot Act while in Europe at a G-8 summit. White House officials believed it was important at the time to sign the extension before the old law expired.

The second occasion was in November 2011, when Mr. Obama signed an emergency spending bill to keep the government running. The president was traveling in Indonesia at the time.
