I used to have a subscription to 'Consumer Reports. They did their own studies, tests, reviews of products for sale, and did not take any contributions toward the studies, etc. (Either in funding, products or testing assistance) The items they recommended always seemed to be top notch items. (I no longer have that subscription, so not sure of the company's current status.)
This is how the medical reviews should be handled: Double blind, outside company, strictly over-watched to ensure public safety, zero input from the pharmaceutical company.
Only then can the public be reassured that the medicine does what it claims it will, or it goes back to the drawing board. (Like why psychotic drugs may cause thoughts of suicide! Why is this med on the market?)
