Ukraine’s novel surface drones obliterate third of Russia’s Black Sea fleet – expert

Friday, 30 May 2025, 20:29

Thanks to the effective performance of naval drones, Ukraine destroyed at least a third of Russia’s Black Sea fleet.

This was stated by DeepState co-founder Roman Pohoriliy, who spoke at the second International Black Sea Security Forum held in Odesa, Ukrinform reports.

"A third of the Russian Federation's Black Sea Fleet is currently at the bottom of the Black Sea thanks to surface drones.

Thanks to them, we were able to unblock navigation routes in order to transport grain.

As a result, the enemy is now afraid to deploy ships in the Black Sea," emphasized DeepState co-founder Roman Pohoriliy.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, a three-day forum dedicated to addressing the most pressing security, economic, and political challenges in the Black Sea region kicked off in Odesa on May 30.

The Black Sea Security Forum is an annual international security forum initiated by Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Honcharenko.

This year, the event brought together over 700 participants from around the world, including politicians, diplomats, ambassadors, and analysts.

As in 2024, the Forum is focused on addressing the most pressing challenges in the Black Sea region.

Missile system designed by HUR downs Russia’s latest jet drone

30.05.2025 16:40

During an air raid involving Russian drones against Odesa region on May 29, Ukraine’s Defense Forces destroyed the latest jet drone, launched by Russian invaders, using an anti-aircraft missile system developed by specialists from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense (HUR)

The defense intelligence agency reported this on Telegram, publishing a corresponding video.

"On May 29, 2025, a mobile anti-aircraft missile system, fitted with R-73 missiles, developed by the defense intelligence agency of the Defense Ministry Ukraine with the support from foreign partners, was successfully used to repel a night-time enemy drone attack on Odesa region," the message says.

The training of operators for the specified air defense system was conducted by Ukrainian military intelligence operatives.

"After detecting a Russian drone, our Security and Defense Forces hit the target – the enemy's latest jet drone, likely a Dan-M, was destroyed: it plunged into the Black Sea," the HUR wrote.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Ukraine’s defense intelligence posted footage of their combat mission in the temporarily captured territory of Zaporizhzhia region, where attack drones hit a Russian military train.

Deadly Russian drone hits police checkpoint in Ukraine's border region - caught on video

Fri, May 30, 2025 - 14:10

In Ukraine's Sumy region, a Russian Lancet drone struck a checkpoint. At the time, a police officer was present there.

RBC-Ukraine reports on what is known about the incident and the condition of the police officer.

A video recently circulated online showed a Russian Lancet (a loitering munition) hitting a checkpoint in the Sumy region, located at a crossroads.

Footage from a surveillance camera shows the timestamp as 11:57 AM on May 27.

Before the strike, a person can be seen standing under the shelter at the checkpoint. The Russian drone then makes a direct hit on the checkpoint.

According to Ukraine’s National Police, the police officer who was at the checkpoint during the strike survived. He sustained injuries and is currently undergoing rehabilitation.

Situation in the Sumy region

Since the Russian army became more active in the spring of 2025, the situation in the border areas of the Sumy region has remained difficult and tense.

Border settlements are under constant fire. Dozens of enemy attacks are recorded daily - using mortars, artillery, kamikaze drones, and guided aerial bombs.

The communities suffering the most from the aggressor’s terror are Bilopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Krasnopillia, Yunakivka, and Khotin.

Last night, in particular, the enemy launched an attack using strike drones on the Stetskivka local administration in the Sumy district.

As a result, four residential buildings were damaged and a power line was destroyed, leaving around ten homes without electricity.

6 killed in Rapid Support Forces' drone strike on hospital in Sudan's North Kordofan: Rights group

30.05.2025

At least six people were killed and 15 others injured when a drone operated by Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) struck a hospital in the city of El-Obeid, capital of North Kordofan State, a Sudanese legal group said Friday.

The Emergency Lawyers Committee, a rights watchdog, said in a statement that the RSF drone targeted Al-Dhaman Hospital, killing patients, medical staff, and attendants.

The strike also caused severe damage to the hospital, forcing it to suspend operations and exacerbating the already dire health crisis in the region.

The group condemned the attack as a war crime and a grave violation of international humanitarian law, holding the RSF accountable and calling for their prosecution.

This is not the first time the medical infrastructure in El-Obeid has come under attack.

On May 15, a drone strike launched by the RSF hit the Military Medical Corps Hospital in the same city, leaving several people dead and wounded, according to Sudanese authorities.

In recent months, the Sudanese government has repeatedly accused the RSF of launching drone attacks on civilian infrastructure, including electricity stations and other key facilities across northern and eastern cities.

The RSF has not issued public comments on the latest incidents.

Since April 2023, the RSF has been battling the army for control of Sudan, resulting in thousands of deaths and creating one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.

More than 20,000 people have been killed and 15 million displaced, according to the UN and local authorities. Research from US scholars, however, puts the death toll at around 130,000.

General Atomics Develops a GHOST Drone for the Air Force

May 30, 2025

The United States Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (AFB), Ohio, has awarded a nearly $100 million contract to General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc.

(GA-ASI) to develop a hybrid-electric ducted fan-powered unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The next-generation drone has been dubbed GHOST, but it is unclear if that is an acronym or a code name.

“This contract provides for advancing the hybrid-electric ducted fan next-generation intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance/strike unmanned aerial systems to provide capabilities across a spectrum of contested environments.

Work will be performed at Poway, California, and is expected to be completed by Aug. 26, 2028,” the Pentagon contract announcement explained.

Specific details haven’t been provided, but GA-ASI has established itself in the UAV space, and there is already speculation that the company has been tasked with developing a drone that could utilize both a heavy-fuel engine and electric generators.

This could give the aircraft greater range, with the heavy-fuel engine delivering near a target when the much quieter electrical engines switch over to help avoid detection when entering the “contested environments.”

Neither General Atomics nor AFRL has commented publicly about the GHOST.

What Are the Capabilities of the GHOST Drone?

According to Flight Global, utilizing ducted fans could allow the GHOST vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capabilities.

Although AFRL tends to fund research and development efforts rather than active procurement, this contract could be an effort to fast-track a drone UAV with intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and strike capabilities.

“The Pentagon has lost an unconfirmed number of General Atomics MQ-9A Reaper UAVs to enemy activity over Yemen and the Red Sea in recent months–each valued at some $30 million,” Flight Global further reported.

The Reaper has also seen significant updates in the past year. Satellite-controlled landings are set to become standard practice for the MQ-9 community, replacing legacy processes that require additional ground control stations, aircrews, and maintenance support.

In addition, tests were carried out earlier this year in which the MQ-9 Reaper was operated from an austere location.

It landed on a dirt strip and was refueled and rearmed before returning to the sky. The GHOST program could enable remote operations to conduct ISR or strike missions.

AFRL is already collaborating with aerospace giant Northrop Grumman and the Office of Naval Research on the XRQ-73 under the Series Hybrid Electric Propulsion Aircraft Demonstration (SHEPARD) program, which received a contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) approximately a year ago.

The XRQ-73 is a “Group 3” UAS, meaning it can fly below 18,000 feet at airspeeds ranging from 100 to 250 knots.

It utilizes a flying wing design and weighs approximately 1,250 pounds, just under the high end of Group 3’s weight range. It is unclear if the GA-ASI GHOST will fill a similar role as the SHEPARD program.

The more than three-year-long war in Ukraine has highlighted that drones have become the most significant threat on the modern battlefield, reportedly killing more soldiers than any other weapon platform.

https://thedebrief.org/we-are-going-to-have-a-catastrophic-event-drone-incursions-in-restricted-airspace-are-surging-in-2025/

“We are Going to Have a Catastrophic Event”: Drone Incursions in Restricted Airspace are Surging in 2025

May 30, 2025

It happened in an instant. As a commercial airliner descended toward a major U.S. airport in March 2025, the flight crew received a tense alert from air traffic control: illegal drone activity had been spotted in the area.

Seconds later, a “relatively large,” silver drone burst into view—streaking just 20 feet past the aircraft’s left wing at 3,300 feet. The pilots had no time to react.

“The drone was about 4 to 5 feet in diameter,” the pilot later recounted. “The incident happened too quickly to take any evasive maneuvers.”

The co-pilot described seeing the drone from the flight deck window at eye level, noting that it was “larger than a typical personal drone.”

This was far from an isolated encounter.

According to data reviewed by The Debrief, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recorded 411 reports of illegal drone incursions near airports across the United States from January to March—an unsettling 25.6% increase from the 327 reports during the same period in 2024.

The figures obtained from the FAA and incident reports filed with the NASA Aviation Safety Reporting System (ASRS) reveal a troubling and potentially dangerous trend, highlighting the growing challenge that unauthorized drones pose to aviation safety.

Alarming Spike in Drone Incursions

For much of the last two years, the number of unauthorized drone incursions reported by commercial pilots, airport operators, and air traffic controllers remained relatively steady.

According to the FAA, between Q1 2023 and Q1 2024, the increase was modest—just 4.8%—suggesting incremental growth aligned with the expanding popularity of consumer and commercial drones.

However, that sense of gradual growth was upended in late 2024, when a wave of “mystery drone” sightings in the skies over New Jersey and other parts of the Northeast drew national attention and intensified scrutiny of illegal drone incursions.

Multiple witnesses described the drones as flying in coordinated patterns—often at night and without identifiable markings—which triggered investigations by local authorities, the FAA, the FBI, and even the Department of Defense.

During the height of the mystery drone frenzy, both the Pentagon and the White House issued a series of conflicting and often perplexing statements, ultimately concluding that the sightings did not pose a “national security or public safety risk.” In January 2025, the incoming Trump administration sought to quell any remaining concern over the December incidents in New Jersey.

“After research and study, the drones that were flying over New Jersey in large numbers were authorized to be flown by the FAA for research and various other reasons,” said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

Yet the FAA’s quarterly data and incident reports from NASA’s ASRS tell a far more troubling story—one of a sharp escalation in hazardous drone incursions across U.S. restricted airspace.

Multiple reports from the ASRS database from early 2025 describe near-midair collisions (NMACs) between drones and passenger jets, with drones appearing just feet away from cockpits or wing tips.

In a March incident over Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), a drone with a flashing red light passed within 50-100 feet of an inbound commercial airliner.

No evasive action was taken, but the pilots filed an immediate report and notified air traffic control.

That same month, a black, roughly one-foot square drone reportedly passed within 5 to 7 feet of the front flight deck window of a commercial cargo plane descending into Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

In February, near Long Beach, California, the pilot of a small single-engine aircraft recounted a near-miss with a “bright red, multi-rotor drone” that “flashed past” the plane at an altitude of 3,500 feet.

“Had the drone intersected my flight path, it could have caused a catastrophic midair collision, with probable impact to control surfaces, propeller, engine, fuel tank, or canopy,” the pilot wrote in the ASRS report.

“Had it impacted the canopy head-on, I would have been killed instantly.”

Most drone encounters reported to the FAA and NASA in the first quarter of 2025 involved standard commercial quadcopters or hobbyist drones.

However, in several notable cases, pilots described more unusual sightings, including larger or more advanced unmanned aircraft, raising additional concerns about the nature and intent behind some of these incursions.

On January 4, 2025, a pilot reported seeing three unmanned aerial systems (UAS) flying in a “triangle formation” at an altitude of approximately 6,000 feet.

According to the FAA report, the encounter occurred near Yardley, Pennsylvania, close to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst—a U.S. military installation that experienced “multiple drone detections” during the wave of mysterious sightings in late 2024.

In February, roughly 13 nautical miles from Fort Worth, Texas, the pilot of a cargo aircraft reported a close encounter with a white, elongated drone that passed approximately 100 feet above the cockpit while the plane was flying at 15,500 feet.

“It appeared to be not a small hobby drone, and it looked maybe 3 to 4 feet long,” the pilot wrote in an ASRS report.

On March 1, 2025, near Gillespie Field in El Cajon, California, the pilot of a Cessna 172 was forced to take evasive action to avoid a potential midair collision with a drone.

Tower personnel confirmed sighting the UAV flying at 1,000 feet, approximately half a mile west of the airport.

In a strange turn of events, the FAA report indicates that the drone began trailing the Cessna, prompting authorities to suspend all air operations at Gillespie Field for more than 30 minutes.

A San Diego County Sheriff’s Department helicopter was dispatched to investigate, but deputies could not locate the drone.

In at least one instance, the crew of an Air Ambulance helicopter unambiguously reported having a close encounter with an “unidentified flying object.”

“One of our helicopters was involved in a near miss with an Unidentified Flying Object,” a February 2025 ASRS report reads.

“One of the crew saw an object directly in front of the windscreen and called to the pilot to take evasive action.

The pilot banked hard to the left, and another crew member witnessed the object pass to the right of the fuselage and just below the main rotor disc. It was estimated that the object was less than 10′ from the aircraft.”

The report notes that the crew believed the object was either a drone or a balloon. However, because the pilot and medical team were operating with night vision goggles, they could not positively identify the object.

Geography of Drone Incursions

A closer look at the FAA’s sighting reports reveals some geographic shifts in incidents, highlighting urban airspaces as emerging hotspots for dangerous drone incursions.

In the first quarter of 2024, the top five cities for drone sightings included Atlanta (14), Miami (12), Houston (12), New York (11), and Chicago (10). However, these rankings shifted in early 2025.

Chicago more than doubled its previous tally, logging 29 unauthorized sightings in just the first quarter—more than any other U.S. city.

Houston followed with 19, while New York and Orlando reported 18 incidents each. San Diego rounded out the top five with 14 reports.

>>23100024

At the state level, Florida is a hub of unauthorized drone activity, with 73 incidents reported in early 2025, up from 55 during the same period the previous year.

California also saw a jump from 43 to 56 reports, while Texas increased from 35 to 40. Thanks to Chicago’s sudden uptick in reported sightings, Illinois emerged as a new hotspot with 31 sightings.

All leading states experienced double-digit percentage increases, suggesting a widespread and systemic rise in drone encounters rather than isolated spikes.

Orlando and San Diego—major tourist hubs with busy international airports—were absent from the top five in 2024 but saw significant jumps in 2025.

Their emergence as hotspots may signal shifting trends in drone activity, potentially linked to tourism or a rise in urban drone operations.

However, it’s also noteworthy that San Diego is the principal homeport of the United States Pacific Fleet and home to several major military installations, including Naval Base San Diego, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, and Naval Base Coronado.

This significant military presence raises additional concerns about the risks posed by unauthorized drone flights in such a strategically sensitive area.

A geographic analysis of FAA data shows that the northeastern United States—where clusters of “mystery drone” sightings emerged in late 2024—continued to report high numbers of drone incursions into early 2025.

Many of these incidents were concentrated near areas with a strong U.S. military presence, particularly around weapons manufacturing and storage facilities.

Unauthorized drone incursions near military bases are of particular concern, and an issue spotlighted during a recent U.S. House Oversight Committee hearing.

Testimony revealed that unauthorized drone incursions over and around U.S. military installations were increasing and posed a significant threat to national security.

“These incursions are not from hobbyists being blown off course,” Chairman of the Oversight Subcommittee on Military and Foreign Affairs, Rep. William Timmons (R-S.C.), said.

“The multitude of drones reported flying over bases in the past several years to yield a coordinated effort by our adversaries to collect valuable intelligence and surveillance of some of our most sensitive military equipment.”

For several years, America’s European and NATO allies have been grappling with a surge of illegal drone activity near sensitive military installations and critical infrastructure.

However, unlike their U.S. counterparts, European intelligence and defense officials have been more outspoken, openly suggesting that many of these incursions are likely part of a broad espionage or sabotage campaign orchestrated by Russia.

In a bold move this January, German lawmakers amended the country’s Aviation Security Act, granting the Luftwaffe the unprecedented authority to shoot down unidentified drones operating within German airspace.

In contrast, U.S. officials have been largely dismissive of the possibility that foreign adversaries are behind some of the drone incursions into American airspace.

3/4

>>23100026

However, during a May oversight hearing, Rear Admiral Paul Spedero Jr., Vice Director of Operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, acknowledged that America’s ability to detect, stop, or determine the intent behind unauthorized drone activity is severely limited.

“In general, the technology to field systems has far outpaced the technology to defeat those systems,” Spedero testified.

“It’s a much wider, broader, deeper market for drone application—commercial and recreational—so that technology has evolved very quickly, from radio-controlled drones to fully autonomous systems that may not even rely on GPS, making them extremely difficult to intercept.”

In another example of inconsistent messaging by U.S. officials, Spedero testified that public awareness campaigns about safe drone operations had been effective in curbing illegal activity.

“Once the word got out—public messaging about responsible drone use and flight restrictions—we saw a rapid decline in the number of sightings,” he said. “The drone activity essentially went away.”

It’s unclear whether Spedero was explicitly referring to drone flights near military installations. However, FAA data from the first quarter of 2025 tells a much different story.

Reports of illegal and hazardous drone incursions near restricted civil airspace have surged dramatically, contradicting the notion that the problem has subsided.

A Problem Demanding Urgent Action

The sharp rise in drone incursions near airports, military installations, and urban airspaces in early 2025 reveals a growing threat that no longer fits within the bounds of recreational mishaps or isolated incidents.

Whether the culprits are careless hobbyists, criminals exploiting gaps in regulation, or foreign adversaries probing U.S. vulnerabilities, the risks to aviation safety and national security are no longer theoretical—they are immediate and escalating.

While awareness campaigns and modest regulatory efforts have shown some localized success, the broader trend suggests that the U.S. remains unprepared to address the complexity, scale, and evolving sophistication of the drone threat.

Commercial drones are now cheaper, more autonomous, and more capable than ever—an innovation curve that has clearly outpaced America’s defensive measures.

The contrast between European responses—like Germany’s recent authorization for its military to shoot down unidentified drones—and the more cautious, often contradictory posture of U.S. agencies underscores a fundamental disconnect. As drone incursions multiply and near-misses become more common, the window for preventative action is closing.

Without a clear, coordinated federal response that includes improved detection systems, better interagency coordination, and updated legal frameworks, the United States risks remaining vulnerable to the scenarios its pilots and security officials are warning about.

And if the FAA’s first-quarter data is any indication, the next close call might not end with just a report—it could end in tragedy.

“The FAA needs to get a hold on this, or we are going to have a catastrophic event happen to a commercial aircraft, not to mention the damage that would happen on the ground,“ a pilot wrote in an ASRS report following a near-miss with a large 4-foot drone during takeoff from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

“This worries me quite a bit,” the pilot said. “I don’t see any urgency by the FAA to mitigate this issue.”

Ross Coulthart: ‘Contact in the Desert’ gets us closer to answers

Updated: May 30, 2025 / 01:03 PM CDT

The meeting of the minds at the “Contact in the Desert” conference could push the needle on UFO and unidentified anomalous phenomena, aka UAP, disclosure from the United States government.

NewsNation special correspondent Ross Coulthart joined “Morning in America” to talk about the conference that focused on UFO and UAP research.

“A lot of people are asking, ‘What is the U.S. government doing to address these concerns?

Is Congress ever going to address this issue, or is it going to try and sweep it under the carpet?'” he said.

Coulthart also noted UFOs and UAPs are much bigger points of discussion now:

“I can’t walk through an airport now in America without being stalked by people who know ‘Reality Check’ and want to talk about the possibility that the government is hiding something about UFOs.”

The conference goes until June 2, and Coulthart said that over 200,000 people are in attendance: “A lot of them are highly professional people who want to talk in detail about experiences they’ve had and knowledge they’ve gained.”

The artifacts have engravings that could be an alien language. Victor visited the area where these enigmatic pieces were found and he’s seen the remains of an ancient settlement that seems to be from an advanced civilization.

He has spoken with the people who found these enigmatic pieces and met a collector who has more than 1,200 related artifacts.

In Teocaltiche, Jalisco he investigated reports of sightings of UFOs with strange flying characteristics that seemingly violate many of the laws of physics.

He has seen ancient clay pieces that show UFO-shaped craft and strange insectoid-type beings. Victor will show us exclusive footage of a winged being, or Mothman, taken near this town in the highlands of Jalisco.

“We faced in Mexico the discovery of strange artifacts belonging to an unknown culture that could have given origin to the rest of the pre-hispanic cultures we know.

These rocks tell the story of beings that inhabited this planet and left their knowledge in a stone library that could change the history of mankind as we know it.

The Grey-Human Hybrid Program

May 21, 2025

A viewer sent me an email with the following question:” Dr Salla posted on Rumble, a video called 'exposing the Grey alien hybrid agenda' in it, he calls out Courtney and Bashar, as working with the Essassani, who do the abductions for genetic material.

Sooo, I watched an old Farsight briefing on the Essassani, and this is a quote from Courtney in that video.

At 17.20 in video "Humanity's freedom and the freedom of the essassani are linked. There are no other paths for evolution, the ultimate goal for essassani and humanity must be to create NEW HUMANS.

A New population of humans who have the mental capabilities of the essassani combined with the human emotions that allow for the exercise of freewill…….

Eventually the humans will MERGE with the essassani. It is INEVITABLE and ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.” (Some misspelling corrected)

The above writer also cites various other sources in their question…

What follows is my reply:

Briefly, it is a worthwhile question, and I commend you for delving into this topic. The problem is that the sources you cite are all limited in their outreach and have various abilities to analyze this topic.

Because there are many Grey alien races, and for example, the Zetas are not fully positive, for example, towards humans, having been known to manipulate and deceive, according to reports going back decades.

They have also been wrong in predicting events in the past).

The question as you frame it assumes the Greys are the predominant race manipulating the genome of humans which is not true.

Many off-planet races have manipulated the human genome, not to mention that most, if not all, Greys are AI or run by AI and Reptilians.

For a lengthy but more accurate litany of all the various races or species that have genetically manipulated humans you need to refer to the Ashayana Deane VOYAGER books I and II.

Note: By far, the information found in these two books resonates with me as being closest to the truth. That info is downloaded by Ashayana Deane from a group of races that call themselves the Guardian Races.

I have spoken many times about the Grey-Human Hybrid program that was carried out predominantly south of the border of the United States after the military realized that the treaty supposedly limiting abductions and experiments was being broken on a regular basis with regard to abductions within the U.S.

A deal was made to basically give the Greys free rein south of the border in Latin and South America. This is why we have a huge onslaught of refugees coming from there.

What we call “illegal aliens”… Many or even most of the illegal aliens are Grey-Human hybrids. I often mention that the U.S. will be faced with an X-Men type scenario in the future (which is now) as a result of this…

where these illegal aliens can be easily manipulated to use their ’superpowers’ inherited from the Greys to get what they want… The X-Men movie called LOGAN is accurate to a degree with regard to this.

The information you cite does not seem to understand the way the already hybridized human race has been repeatedly genetically manipulated throughout its history by multiple off planet races. The Greys are only one (hybrid/AI) group or groups that have been involved.

The merging or manipulating of species is ongoing and has been at least on Earth since humans arrived. And that is another story….

I do not agree with the limited viewpoint that states that humans will merge with the Essessani being overly significant in the history of genetic manipulation of humans.

There is a very select group again that are centered mostly down in Latin and South America, where that may be closer to the truth, however.

One reason why they concentrated down there aside for the treaty with the US military is that this hybridization was more successful with the native indigenous races down there…

White races are already heavily hybridized and the Grey hybrid program required less hybridized blood from what I understand for the blending to be successful. Otherwise too much rejection from over-hybridized races such as the “white race”.

There is a tremendous misunderstanding about humans and what we really are… HU-MAN = Man of many hues (or colors)… Rainbow races…

We were hybridized by so many races, including the Anunnaki before the “Greys” came along….Covid was only the most recent genetic manipulation program by the way.”
