It's like some kind of paranoia that pointing out bad law enforcement is somehow a threat the good law enforcement.

Well, kinda weird how many claim to have taken some Oath (like under the eyes of God?), but yet feel some strange loyalty to criminals hiding truth from the public. The public kept in the dark is a greater risk to "National Security" than WHATEVER secret is being kept.
An unknown and hidden "threat" is vastly more dangerous and deadly than a threat that has a light shown upon it. Only psychos or criminals inside government make the excuse that the Public must be Protected from the truth of things.
if i had to make my final guess right now,
id have to go with socio-psychological collapse.
The general population can only take so much of lies and deception before a breaking point.
The brainwashing and manipulation can not be sustained indefinitely. THAT is what's coming that can't be stopped.
