LIVE: ICE press conference on immigration enforcement operation in Massachusetts
Patricia Hyde, Field Director, ICE Boston [press conference]: Our efforts resulted in the arrests of one thousand, four hundred and sixty-one criminal alien offenders. Two hundred and seventy-seven of those offenders have been ordered removed from the United States by a Justice Department immigration judge.
US Attorney Foley [press conference]: On May 7th, ICE took a man into custody who had been removed from the country five previous times. He had been arrested nine times on serious criminal charges, including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, indecent assault and battery on a person, kidnapping, unarmed robbery, threatening and intimidation, and he had a conviction for an OUI. Another man who was arrested in Worcester had been deported four previous times. He came back into this country, had three open OUI charges. Each time he was arrested for OUI, he was released without notifying ICE.
