It is run by doctors and nurses, many of whom did NOT graduate UCLA.

Here is how it works:
Whoever contributes the most money toward construction or general support of anything within the hospital gets name recognition. That's how big name celebs keep their names up there in LA.
I'm not totally discounting your suspicions, but just letting you know that I have some understanding of how UCLA medical works. I've done business with them. Have done 2-3 day walk-throughs.
