Unless "in" on the "Roberts' Rush," POTUS does not appear to have intentionally left his hand off the Bibles during the 47 swearing in. Rather Chief JusticeRoberts started the oath without the family, let alone the Bibles, in place around POTUS.

The pics at the linked post without context make it appear as if POTUS purposefully left his hand off the Bibles held by Melania during the #47 oath of office swearing-in ceremony.

The 'context is:

Chief Justice Roberts stepped up to POTUS and started swearing him in before his family, including Melania with the Bibles - had a chance to gather around him.

It was bizarre. POTUS had already starting repeating the first phrase of the oath, after Justice Roberts recited it, before the Bibles were even present.

Why did Justice Roberts rush the start of the 47 oath so awkwardly and bizarrely before the Bibles were even present?

Sauce:

"President Donald Trump broke a long-standing tradition during his inauguration when he didn't place his hand on the Bible, prompting some to blame Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, who was administering the oath of office.

What To Know

"Trump's not putting his hand on the Bible prompted some supporters to blame Roberts. They criticized the justice for not giving Trump['s family] more time to get settled before administering the oath.

"Chief Justice Roberts rushing the oath before Melania got to President Trump without his hand on the Bible is absolutely disgraceful. Shame on Roberts," Coleton Furlow, a Christian conservative podcast host, posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Pastor Carl Williams criticized Roberts for rushing the oath with Trump, meaning Trump didn't have a chance to put his hand on the Bible.

"With the incoming first family scrambling to get into place, Chief Justice Roberts began reciting the oath before President Donald Trump could even put his hand on the Bible," radio host Terry Meiners posted on X.

"Law professor Jonathan Turley, on X: Chief Justice John Roberts appears to have taken the view that 'Justice delayed is justice denied' by jumping forward to start the oath before Trump could put his hand on the Bible. The Internet is alive with speculation that it might not count…it is wishful thinking for some and angst for others that the Bible-lite oath might not satisfy the standard under Article II."

SEE video of POTUS' family still moving into place when POTUS' oath was started by Justice Roberts. Notably: contrast the Roberts' Rush with how much time Justice Kavenaugh patiently allowed for VP Vance's family to gather around him, before stepping up and starting the oath:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ0kuaqCeEM

(VP's oath announced at 6:00 and Justice Kavenaugh properly waits for his family to gather; POTUS' oath announced at 8:15 - well before VP's family had moved out of the way of POTUS' family's ability to step up andJustice Roberts improperly starts the issuance of the oath with NO ONE yet gathered around POTUS)

Why?

The two Bibles held by Melania, and expected to be utilized by POTUS during his 47 inauguration oath ceremony were described in advance as the one given to him by his mother and the Lincoln Bible - previously used by Presidents Lincoln, Trump (at his 45 ceremony) and Obama at both of his swearing-in ceremonies.

From Qresear.ch:

"Trump will use his Bible, given to him by his mother in 1955, to "mark his Sunday Church Primary School graduation at First Presbyterian Church, in Jamaica, New York," a press release from his inaugural committee states.

"The religious text is a 1953 revised standard version that was published by Thomas Nelson and Sons in New York. Trump's name is embossed on the lower portion of the front cover, and inside the cover are signatures of church officials, an inscription of the president's name and details of when it was presented to him.

In addition to the sentimental Bible, the Lincoln Bible, first used in 1861 to swear-in the 16th U.S. president, will be used.

"It has only been used three times since, by President Obama at each of his inaugurations and by President Trump at his first inauguration in 2017," Trump's team states. "The burgundy velvet-bound book is part of the collections of the Library of Congress."
