President Trump [Oval Office]: We spend billions and billions of dollars a year because people don't clean the forests. And were gonna clean the forests. We're gonna start cleaning them. We're gonna get rid of dead wood…we're gonna have a whole new system. It's called Forest Management.
Reporter: Will you invoke the Insurrection Act to deal with the situation in California?
President Trump: If there's an insurrection, I would certainly invoke it. We'll see. But I can tell you, last night was terrible, The night before that was terrible…people with big heavy hammers, pounding the concrete and pounding curbs; pounding, breaking off, and handing these big chunks of concrete to people. And they were taking that concrete, going up on bridges, and dropping it into the roof of a car. They were throwing it at our police. They were throwing it at our soldiers that are there, and we got it stopped, and we have them in custody right now.
President Trump: These are paid insurrectionists, or agitators, or troublemakers. You can call it whatever you want. And we ended it, and we have in custody some very bad people.
Reporter: Will the National Guard be in California indefinitely? How long will they be there?
President Trump: Until there's no danger.
Secretary Noem [Oval Office]: Claudia Sheinbaum [president of Mexico] came out and encouraged more protests in LA, and I condemn her for that. She should not be encouraging violent protests that are going on
President Trump: I can inform the rest of the country, that when they do it [riots], they're gonna be met with equal, or greater force, than we met right here [California]…we stopped a disaster. And it looks like a planned disaster. This didn't just happen. They had weapons, they had tools, they had everything you needed. They were throwing iced water in bottles, in glass bottles, at officers and at soldiers. These are, you could not use the word insurrection, but you could also use the word; these are very dangerous people. They're bad people. They were met with heavy force, and they folded.
President Trump: If there's any protest that wants to come out [during June 14th parade], they will be met with very big force, by the way.
Ted Lieu [press conference]: The National Guard troops are following unlawful orders. I ask every National Guard person who is under this order, to read the order, to see if it came from Governor Newsom, and then read the law, and then decide for themselves if they are following unlawful orders.

Mayor Bass [press conference]: At six o'clock tonight, there will be an innerfaith prayer vigil…calling for peace, calling for unifying our community, calling for supporting immigrant Angelenos.

Mayor Bass: I'm going to put out a call to him today [President Trump]. I want to tell him to stop the raids. I want to tell him that this is a city of immigrants. I want to tell him that if you want to devastate the economy of the city of Los Angeles, then attack the immigrant population.
That would be an attempt to force Marines to use lethal force, and then blame President Trump. I trust the Marines will take appropriate response, and their plan will fail.
