The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office is fully aware of the situation in Los Angeles and is monitoring it closely.
An adherence to law is an absolute requirement if we are to remain a civilized society. Standing on a corner holding signs is obviously an exercise of your constitutionally protected rights. You are no longer exercising your rights when you infringe on someone else’s constitutional rights or freedoms. Blocking roadways, damaging property, obstructing and/or assaulting law enforcement is criminal behavior.
While the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office will ensure every person’s constitutional right to protest, we will also exercise a zero-tolerance policy for any criminal activity associated with said protest. Any person breaking the law, encouraging or inciting this behavior, or assaulting or obstructing law enforcement will be arrested, jailed, and prosecuted.
We are committed to the safety and the security of our Riverside County residents and their property. Protesting will be protected; criminal activity will be dealt with swiftly and decisively.
