McGuire: Break the law, that's a crime. You come across our border illegally, you're a criminal.

Mayor Bass [press conference]: Madame Secretary, I do not recognize you anymore. I do not know Kristi Noem that I served with for ten years.

Mayor Bass: The immigrant community is vital to the economy of our city. There are entire sectors of our economy that will not function if the immigrant community is too afraid to go to work, and too afraid to go to school.

Mayor Bass: I was in a meeting with some of the immigrant rights leaders the other morning, and everybody's cell phones started going off. Why? Because they were being notified of raids taking place.

Mayor Bass: It's not normal for the military to be deployed on the streets of cities in the United States. The military is for foreign wars, not civil unrest that's not even happening.
