41 Israeli army personnel renounce military service, call Gaza carnage 'Netanyahu's survival war'

Forty-one Israeli soldiers announced they wouldn't continue their military service, saying the Gaza genocide was a war to protect Netanyahu's political survival.

The soldiers from Israel's intelligence and cyber warfare units sent a signed letter on Tuesday to Netanyahu, Defence Minister Israel Katz, Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, and other Cabinet members expressing their refusal, according to the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth.

The signatories wrote under the heading "Soldiers for the Hostages" that the renewed military offensive in Gaza is not a "security decision but a political one."

They criticised the decision to expand the carnage in the Palestinian territory, asserting that the aim is to "preserve the ruling coalition, not protect Israeli citizens."

The soldiers said they would not participate in "Netanyahu's survival war." Some pledged to make their refusal public, while others promised to use quieter, "grey area" forms of protest.

Zamir directed the military in early June to expand its ongoing carnage in Gaza to include additional areas in both the north and south, amid a worsening humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave.

Israel estimates that 56 hostages remain in Gaza, including 20 believed to be alive. Meanwhile, more than 10,100 Palestinians are held in Israeli prisons under harsh conditions, including reports of torture, starvation, and medical neglect, according to Palestinian and Israeli rights groups.

Hamas has repeatedly offered to release all Israeli captives in exchange for an end to the war, a full withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza, and the release of Palestinian prisoners. However, Netanyahu has rejected those terms, insisting on the disarmament of Palestinian resistance factions and pushing for renewed control over Gaza.

The Israeli opposition and families of the hostages have accused Netanyahu of prolonging the war to appease his far-right coalition partners and maintain power.

Israeli carnage

The Israeli army, rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, has pursued a brutal carnage against Gaza since October 2023, killing nearly 55,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children.

Over the course of the genocide, Israel reduced most of the blockaded enclave to ruins and practically displaced all of its population.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former Defence Minister, Yoav Gallant, for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war crimes against civilians in the enclave.

Judge Declares Mistrial on Remaining Rape Charge Against Weinstein Amid Drama with Jurors

A New York judge declared a mistrial on the remaining rape charge against disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein after the jury foreperson said he would no longer participate in deliberations.

The decision to end deliberations came on Thursday, just one day after the jury reached a partial verdict on other charges. According to the foreperson, tensions had escalated inside the jury room.

He told the court he felt bullied by another juror and refused to rejoin the discussions.

The judge’s declaration comes after Weinstein was convicted of one of the top charges but was acquitted of another. Both charges concerned accusations of forcing oral sex on women in 2006. Weinstein has denied all charges.

Trump Administration Launches Website For 'Gold Card' Visas

The Trump administration has launched a new website for people interested in so-called gold card visas, which the president has said would grant citizenship in exchange for millions of dollars.

The website, trumpcard.gov, says that “the Trump card is coming” and encourages people to enter their information to be notified when applications open.

A picture of the card shows the president’s face and a figure of $5 million.

People can enter their name, area of residence, and email.

“Thousands have been calling and asking how they can sign up to ride a beautiful road in gaining access to the Greatest Country and Market anywhere in the World,” President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social, his social media network, on June 11.

Trump said in February that his administration was going to start selling the “gold card” visas so that wealthy people could legally enter the United States.

“They’ll be wealthy, and they’ll be successful, and they’ll be spending a lot of money and paying a lot of taxes and employing a lot of people, and we think it’s going to be extremely successful, and never been done before anything like this,” he said at the time.

The visas are an updated version of the EB-5 investor visas, according to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.

Under the EB-5 program, investors can apply for a green card if they invest in a commercial enterprise in the United States.

Investors must invest an amount that creates at least 10 full-time positions and invest at least $1 million, or at least $800,000 in targeted employment areas. The minimum required investment amount depends on the type of project.

The annual limit of EB-5 visas is 7.1 percent of the worldwide employment limit.

The gold card program does not fit within the Immigration and Nationality Act, the primary U.S. immigration law, the Center for Immigration Studies, a nonprofit that studies immigration laws, said earlier this year.

“The EB-5 program is one of the specified immigrant [visa] categories – the gold card program is not. An alien could not lawfully be admitted as an immigrant on the basis of having received a gold card,” George Fishman, a senior legal fellow with the center, wrote in a blog post. “Further, an alien could not become a naturalized citizen on the basis of having received a gold card, as a gold card would not provide lawful permanent residence.”

He said it is unlikely the program would survive scrutiny by the Supreme Court if it were challenged with a lawsuit, although justices could ultimately rule in favor of the president.

Panic in Ohio as huge NITRIC ACID spill grounds flights, sparks mass evacuations and creates ominous dust cloud

A large chemical spill in Ohio has grounded all flights within 4,000 square miles and sparked mass evacuations.

Thousands of gallons of nitric acid, a hazardous chemical compound that can irritate eyes, throats and lungs, leaked from a tank at the Austin Powder Red Diamond plant in McArthur on Wednesday morning.

The company produces industrial explosives used for construction and mining purposes. It is unclear how the leak started - but thick orange plumes of smoke were seen billowing across the blue sky in the area.

An immediate evacuation order has been announced by the Vinton County Sheriff's Office, specifically for Zaleski - a small village in Ohio with a population of 750 locals.

The panic occurred 185 miles east of where the 2023 toxic chemical train derailment happened in East Palestine, which completely devastated the small town.

On Wednesday, the Federal Aviation Administration banned nearly all airlines from flying within 3,700 square miles of airspace and 30 nautical miles near the terrifying spill. Only 'relief flights' are allowed in the no-fly zone.

The urgent airspace ban spans across a land mass that is over double the size of Rhode Island.

Dispatchers are currently directing local residents to evacuate their homes and go to the Vinton County High School gym. It could be hours before the air is deemed safe.

The massive leak is coming from a storage tank that holds 5,000 gallons of nitric acid, according to Jackson County Emergency Management.

Robert Czechlewski, Jackson County Emergency Management Director, said 3,000 gallons leaked from the tank.

When nitric acid mixes with the air, it causes a chemical reaction that produces nitric oxide, which creates and orange, brown gas to release.

There are no reports of injuries from the chemical leak.

In addition to feeling irritation in the eyes and nose, people could also feel drowsy and possibly fall unconscious, Brad Price with the Vinton County Health Department said.

Price said anyone exposed to the dangerous chemical should immediately flush out their eyes and clean their skin.

If symptoms worsen, he has urged people to call their primary health care provider for further assistance.

Several local roads are also closed in the area, WBNS reported.

White House Fears Iranian Response To An Attack Could Overwhelm Israel's Air Defenses

Iran's military says it's ready for anything at a moment President Trump has reiterated that an Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear sites could be imminent. Such a strike "could very well happen," the president said Thursday.

But…"We are ready for any scenario and have a military strategy," commander-in-chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Hossein Salami responded in speech on state TV.

Also, White House envoy Steve Witkoff has privately warned top Senate Republicans that Iran's retaliation to an Israeli strike on its nuclear program "could overwhelm Israel's defenses and cause mass damage and casualties," Axios reports.

Trump has said that while something 'dangerous' could happen 'soon' in the Middle East, the US remains "fairly close to an agreement with Iran" - thus this latest messaging is somewhat contradictory.

Is all of the embassy drawdown reporting merely a ploy? CNN and others have been emphasizing all day that staff draw downs from American embassies in Iraq, Kuwait, and Bahrain are in preparation for something serious.

But it remains that this US State Dept 'order' could just be an extreme tactic to make Iran feel the pressure. According to more of the latest from Axios:

Witkoff told the Senators that military strikes by Israel are on the table if no agreement is reached.

He then brought up Iran's ballistic missile capabilities. The U.S. is concerned Israel's air defenses would not be able to handle an Iranian response involving hundreds of missiles, the sources said.

Such an attack, Witkoff told the group, could cause massive casualties and damage.

Witkoff also raised concerns about Iran's ballistic missile arsenal during a speech in New York on Wednesday, calling it "as big of an existential threat" for Israel as Iran's nuclear capabilities.

Among the worries is that Iran's defense ministry is currently touting the rollout of a new ballistic missile with a 4,000-lb. warhead.

Aside from the damage this could do to Israel, there's also the question of US military personnel stationed in the region. Has the Pentagon taken steps to protect these locations?
