This isn't really winning. Sheldon Silver was the plug that kept lots of "progressive" legislation from passing in NY. Now he's gone and the taps are open, as NY loses all the guards that were put in place in the law to keep it from going socialist. And Gov. Cuomo, whose life is this sort of stuff, knows just where to look.
No, there was real technology there. Starting a car company is incredibly hard. They had the best (Israeli, Mobileye) self-driving tech, then Mobileye ended their license and it got a bit worse, but it's still probably safer than human driver in control.
