Two Israeli officials claimed to Axios that U.S. President Trump and his aides were only pretending to oppose an Israeli attack on Iran in public — and didn't express opposition in private.
“We had a clear U.S. green light.” Aides for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are even said to have purposefully given false information to reporters, claiming that President Trump had tried to talk Israel down from an attack on Monday, when in reality the two leaders actually discussed coordination ahead of the attack against Iran.
