Hoffman voted against the repeal. The bill passed by a narrow 68-65 vote during an emotional session. Sen. Bonnie Westlin, DFL-Plymouth said the passage of the bill represented “a shameful day in this body.”
“And I am angry because my majority leader had a gun put to her head,” Westlin said. “And she’s gonna take a vote on this, knowing her caucus does not support this because she wants to make sure this budget is passed.”

A senior Iranian official said Friday that the Tehran regime will target the regional bases of any country that assists Israel.
"Iran reserves the right – under international law – to respond decisively to this regime," the official told CNN. "Any country that attempts to defend the regime against Iran's operations will, in turn, see its regional bases and positions become new targets."
Iran accused the U.S. of being complicit in the attacks, which the Trump administration denied, telling Tehran on Friday at the U.N. Security Council on Friday that it would "be wise" to negotiate over its nuclear program, The Jerusalem Post reported.
After Israel began Operation Rising Lion on Thursday night, targeting Iranian nuclear and military sites, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Israel acted unilaterally and that the U.S. was not involved.
"Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran," Rubio said in a statement released by the White House. "We are not involved in strikes against Iran and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region.
"Israel advised us that they believe this action was necessary for its self-defense. President Trump and the Administration have taken all necessary steps to protect our regional partners. Let me be clear: Iran should not target U.S. interests or personnel."
President Donald Trump reportedly said Friday that Israel used "great American equipment" in its attack.
U.S. and Israeli sources told CNN the U.S. military helped to intercept Iranian missiles launched against Israel. One Israeli source told CNN other countries in the region also supported Israeli air defenses.

Two Minnesota Democrats Killed in 'Targeted' Attack

A Minnesota State lawmaker and her husband were killed Friday night and others have been shot in what authorities are calling "multiple targeted attacks.”
Democrat-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark were shot and killed in Brooklyn Park in what police are calling a politically motivated attack. DFL Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette were also shot in their neighborhood of and Champlin, Minnesota. Police are searching for a suspect who may be impersonating a police officer. Brooklyn Park Police Department has issued a shelter in place for a 3-mile radius around the Edinburgh Golf Course.
"Police are looking for a suspect in multiple targeted shootings who is armed and dangerous. Suspect is white male, brown hair, wearing black body armor over blue shirt and blue pants and may misrepresent himself as law enforcement. Do not approach. Call 911,” Brooklyn Park PD advised Saturday morning.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz posted early Saturday morning that he had been briefed on the situation. “The Minnesota Department of Public Safety and local law enforcement are on the scene. We will share more information soon,” Walz said.
