Flying a drone is extremely dangerous and could endanger lives say Newcastle Airport chiefs after massive increase in incidents in airport's airspace

"Flying drone in our airspace is extremely dangerous and could endanger lives” - the words of Newcastle Airport's Director of Operations Paul Farmer after a worrying 512% increase in drones being flown illegally in the airport’s airspace in the last year.
The Airport recorded 98 unauthorised drone sightings within its Flight Restriction Zone (FRZ) between January and May this year - a significant rise from 16 incidents during the same period in 2024.
The FRZ covers a 5km radius around the Airport and encompasses areas such as Ponteland, Darras Hall, Callerton, Westerhope and Newcastle Great Park.
It is closely monitored by the Airport’s Air Traffic Control team and plays a vital role in safeguarding aircraft operations and keeping passengers, crew and the wider community safe.
Flying any drone within the FRZ without prior permission from the airport is a serious criminal offence, with offenders facing unlimited fines or up to five years in prison.
Paul Farmer, Director of Operations at Newcastle Airport, said: “We recognise that flying drones is a popular hobby and a valuable tool for businesses, however we are seeing a concerning rise in unauthorised drone activity in the vicinity of the Airport.
“The Flight Restriction Zone exists to keep everyone in our airspace safe, but flying a drone without prior permission from our Air Traffic Control team is extremely dangerous and could endanger lives.
“We have proactively reached out to local schools and businesses and are working closely with Northumbria Police to raise awareness of the issue.
“It is vital that all drone operators act responsibly and follow the rules so that the airspace around the airport remains safe for everyone.”
Inspector Claire Wood, of Northumbria Police, added: “We are aware of recent issues around illegal drone activity affecting Newcastle International Airport – and we remain committed to supporting our partners with this.
“Drones are hugely popular and, while most operators will use theirs sensibly and within the law, others continue to fly near to or within restricted airspace.
“Not only is this illegal, but it can be highly dangerous to fly a drone over a congested area, and especially when it is close to an airport or aircraft in restricted flying zones.
“This poses a number of safety concerns to the wider public and our partners – and could see the operator losing control or sight of the device, or lead to a collision with an aircraft in flight.
“We’d urge those who are looking to purchase or operate a drone to familiarise themselves with the latest legislation online.
“Drone operators are held legally responsible for every flight – and those who flout the law could face criminal action, including a prison sentence.”
To request permission to fly a drone within the FRZ, drone operators must complete a form on the airport’s website.
The form must be submitted at least 24 hours before the planned flight and requests will be reviewed by the airport’s Air Traffic Control team before approval is granted.
Between 1 January and 31 May this year, the airport has approved 197 requests from drone operators.

Two Russian explosives production-linked plants go up in flames after drone strikes

Ukrainian drones struck two Russian plants overnight on 14 June, damaging facilities connected to explosive production and petrochemical refining in southern Russia’s Stavropol Krai and the Volga region’s Samara Oblast.
Videos from the scene, shared by several Telegram channels, show drone flyovers, interceptions, fires at the facilities, and the aftermath of the strikes.
Ukrainian forces have repeatedly struck Russian military, defense industry, and energy infrastructure in both occupied territories and inside Russia.
The ongoing air campaign is aimed at crippling Russian military logistics and its capacity to continue the war.
Strikes on Nevinnomysk Azot in Stavropol
According to Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation (UCCD), the Nevinnomysk Azot plant in Stavropol Krai was one of the main targets.
The factory produces over a million tons of ammonia and ammonium nitrate annually—essential components in explosive manufacturing.
Additional footage from Nevinnomysk shows that Ukraine has likely used its legendary Liutyi long-range kamikaze drones.
The UCCD noted that the facility also synthesizes melamine, acetic acid, methanol, and potassium nitrate—dual-use chemicals often utilized in explosives and military charges.
Since 2024, the plant has also been producing water-soluble fertilizers tailored for military chemistry applications.
Footage shared by Telegram channels suggests the control room of Nevinnomysk Azot may have been destroyed.
Regional governor Vladimir Vladimirov claimed “debris” from a drone fell in the city’s industrial zone.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces stated that the strike aimed to degrade Russia’s capacity to produce explosives and munitions.
The General Staff described the Nevinnomysk facility as a key supplier for Russia’s war against Ukraine, reporting multiple explosions and fires at the site.
Azot is a typical Soviet-era name of a chemical factory, producing nitrogen-based chemicals such as ammonia. Recently, one of the other Azots was attacked in Russia’s Tula Oblast.
Drone attack on Samara Oblast industrial site
In a parallel operation, drones struck another major industrial site in Novokuybyshevsk, Samara Oblast.
The Ukrainian military identified the target as the Novokuybyshevsk Petrochemical Company (NNK), a top-tier supplier of components used in artillery explosives.
The company is among Russia’s five largest producers in gas-processing and petrochemical sectors and the country’s only maker of synthetic ethanol and para-tert-butylphenol (PTBF)—both linked to explosive compounds.

Local residents reported the attack and resulting fire, and some Ukrainian sources suggested that the Novokuybyshevsk Catalyst Plant might have been the target.
The facility focuses on regenerating catalysts for the oil processing and chemical industries and developing new types of catalysts and adsorbents through experimental production.
Samara Oblast governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev confirmed a UAV attack attempt on one of Novokuybyshevsk’s industrial facilities, stating there were no casualties or major damage.
According to the Militarnyi outlet, NNK supplies ingredients to the Kazan Powder Plant and the Sverdlov Plant, both engaged in manufacturing explosive materials including octogen and hexogen.
Public contracts show transactions worth hundreds of millions of rubles for explosive production materials, highlighting the plant’s direct ties to Russia’s defense sector.
The Ukrainian General Staff described the Novokuybyshevsk plant as directly involved in supplying components for Russia’s artillery shell production.
Ukrainian military confirms targeting of military-linked facilities
The Ukrainian Army General Staff reported that the attacks on Novokuybyshevsk and Nevinnomsk facilities were part of broader operations to weaken Russia’s ability to manufacture munitions and explosives.
It confirmed strikes on “key military-industrial complex facilities,” citing confirmed explosions and fires.
The military stressed that its drone strikes were conducted in coordination with other Ukrainian Defense Forces units and reiterated its commitment to undermining Russia’s war capacity.
Damage assessment is ongoing, according to the report.
Russian claims
Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed that its air defense downed 66 Ukrainian drones during the night, failing even to mention Samara Oblast.
The MoD claimed the interceptions included 30 in Voronezh Oblast, 10 in Belgorod Oblast, eight in Stavropol Krai, and six in occupied Crimea.

Haiti - FLASH : Kamikaze drone attacks reportedly kill at least 300 terrorists

At least 300 gang members have been killed and 400 others injured, some seriously, since Haitian authorities began using kamikaze drones, according to a June 12, 2025, report by the National Human Rights Defense Network (RNDDH).
These kamikaze drones were initially used by a special unit created by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé last March to combat growing insecurity.
"These operations, welcomed by the population, mark an important turning point in the fight against armed gangs," the RNDDH report emphasizes.
Sustainable kamikaze drone operations :
• From March 1st to 12, 2025, operations were conducted in the municipalities of Delmas and Pétion-ville;
• On April 19, 2025, an operation was conducted in Kenscoff; • On the afternoon of May 4th, 2025, an operation was conducted in Grand-Ravine;
• On May 20, 2025, several drones were launched into the stronghold of gang leader Renel Destina, alias "Ti Lapli";
• On May 22, 2025, several kamikaze drones were launched into the Torcel and Pernier neighborhoods;
• On the afternoon of May 25, 2025, several kamikaze drones were launched into the Village de Dieu neighborhood, led by gang leader "5 Segond," Johnson André, alias "Izo 5";
• On June 1st, 2025, an operation was conducted in the Village de Dieu and Grand-Ravine neighborhoods;
• On June 3rd, 2025, several kamikaze drones were launched into downtown Port-au-Prince;
• From June 9 to 11, 2025, several kamikaze drones crashed into the neighborhoods of Solino, downtown Port-au-Prince, and Grand-Ravine.

Breaking News : The kamikaze drone attacks of June 9 and 10 reportedly targeted the residence of Johnson André, alias "Izo," leader of the "5 Segond" gang, in the Village-de-Dieu neighborhood.
Although authorities have not yet officially confirmed "Izo's" condition, reports from Johnson André's relatives indicate that he was seriously injured in the attack.
"Izo" was reportedly rushed to a hospital in Carrefour, where, according to several sources, he is scheduled to undergo surgery, the outcome of which remains uncertain, and his life is in jeopardy.
Importantly, in the current context, it is impossible to confirm this information from independent sources, and it should be treated with caution.

The U.S. Army is 3D-printing drones and repairing them — will soon have the capability to make 'the vast majority' in-house

Threat Status, a podcast hosted by the Washington Times, recently interviewed Lieutenant General Chris Mohan, Deputy Commanding General and Acting Commander of US Army Materiel Command.
It was in this conversation that we got a neat inside look at how the US Army plans to implement both 3D printing and drones into its modernization strategies.
According to Mohan, the US Army is no stranger to producing its own drones in-house. The plug-and-play nature of modern 3D printing has brought the manufacturing process closer to what Mohan describes as the tactical edge.
With 3D printers deployed on the front lines, troops can now print a huge myriad of components whenever they need them most.
The files provided clarify the model of printer used to test the design and also include recommended settings to get the best results possible when printing.
3D printing a drone from scratch just requires the right file (or files). From there, it's just a matter of tweaking your g-code settings when slicing the file for printing and making sure your printer is good to go.
The implementation of 3D printing in the Army also makes it easy to replace components after a crash. Mohan suggested propellers and rotor blades as prime examples.
Of course, it goes without saying that this versatility extends to a wider variety of categories outside of drone support, as individuals can print anything they might need.
Mohan also mentions the ability to 3D print replacement parts nearby and deliver them to troops on the front lines using drones. This shows the strong relationship the two technologies share in the modern battlefront.
According to Mohan, the US government is hoping to expand its UAS factory plan with a new proposal. This is a centralized location in which the Army can 3D print drone bodies, etc.
However, Mohan suggests they want to expand the support to include electronic components, as well, like motors.
This would keep production as domestic as possible and reduce reliance on third-party suppliers for critical components.

‘I encounter aliens every day - there’s one reason they come to me’

During the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, a woman said she began experiencing daily encounters with extraterrestrial beings after spotting her first UFO.
Lily Nova, who started astrophotography to cope with boredom, said she made her initial sighting in November 2021, followed by another shortly after. Since then, her encounters have escalated to the point where she claims to see floating orbs, metallic ships, or aliens every day. Describing the beings, Lily from St. Louis, Missouri, mentioned one resembled a girl with light blue skin, no hair, and wearing a skin-tight grey suit, which she found "very beautiful".
She recounted her first encounter, stating: "My first encounter with aliens and UFOs was very intense. I went outside for some fresh air one night and I immediately locked eyes with bright light hovering over the neighborhood."
"I started investigating and realized it was a UFO. Seconds later I looked away briefly and when I looked back there was a second craft that was much closer."
"I could actually see the triangular shape of the craft. The UFOs did some impressive maneuvers to show me that it wasn't a regular aircraft before they disappeared above me," she added.
Lily admitted to being unsettled following her initial experience, but since then, such events have become routine.
She elaborated: "During my encounters, I have also been able to see what the beings look like. One of the first beings I saw was a girl with light blue skin.", reported the Mirror.
"She had no hair, but she was very beautiful. She was wearing a skin-tight grey suit and I saw her shipmates standing behind her in the same uniform."
"I have also seen another group of beings with light blonde hair, fair and glowing skin and bright blue eyes. I believe they send images of themselves to me through telepathy.
I think they are easing me into an introduction as it would be such a shocking experience for any human to have an alien walk up to you. "
According to Lily, the extraterrestrial beings were initially testing her reaction following her first startling encounter, as they seemed aware that she was recording them and made gestures in her direction.
She suspects that they subsequently gave her some space to process the experience before reappearing. Lily further stated: "My encounters have been very close from the start."
"I could not believe what I was seeing, it was groundbreaking and it piqued my interest in astrophotography even more. I needed to find out as much as possible," she continued.
"I abandoned my career as a nutritionist because it was overtaken by my passion for finding out more about UFOs and aliens."
Lily said she was spooked after her first encounter, but since then it's become a common occurrence.

Poughkeepsie Man Films Strange Lights In The Night Sky

Luigi Benigni captured video of possible ufo outside his city of Poughkeepsie residence Thursday night.
For over a century, the Hudson Valley has been a hotbed for UFO activity with residents reporting sightings along with strange paranormal experiences and even encounters with extraterrestrials.
Are UFOs real?
I remember for one, growing up in the Lake Carmel, NY area and traveling to the Jefferson Valley Mall in Yorktown Heights with the family on many occasions.
This was during the mid-1980s, and more often than not we would see UFOs as we were driving home from the mall back home at night.
Then there was that time living on Dingley Rd in Lake Carmel when the entire neighborhood was out in the street looking up at the sky at a giant UFO. The thing had to be the size of a football field!
UFO Sighting on Smith St in Poughkeepsie?
Luigi Benigni recounted what he saw on the evening of Thursday, June 12th at around 11:30pm.
He went outside to take the trash out at his Smith Street residence when he looked up at the sky and saw something flying with green and red flashing lights.
He took out is phone and captured what he believes may have been a UFO. He wasn't sure how high up the object was, but he said it was way higher than the tree line in the video.
We have obtained two videos that Luigi Benigni sent us and the videos are truly remarkable. Especially the second 18 second video that shows the green and red object appearing to change shape and giving off a strange sound.
We talked with Luigi again after viewing the videos and asked him if he definitely feels that its a UFO that he captured on video and he said, he doesn't know.
He said "It's probably a drone." With no other eyewitness reports from Thursday night's incident, this UFO sighting remains a mystery.
