Good to see Trump distancing himself from that war. However, his bluster sounds a lot like the shock and awe rhetoric from our last forays into the middle east (and subsequent retreats with nothing to show for it). Given the rather sloppy display of our military today in Washington, it would seem he is basing his assessment of US strength on the same estimate of technological superiority that lead to the long term failure of our last wars i.e. you can defeat an army but you can not defeat the inhabitants of the country if they refuse to come over to your side. The US has defeated many armies since 1945 but has yet to win a war.
